Not necessarily. The island has different things for different people. For Locke, it holds the ability to heal. He can even help heal people around him (Benjamin said this when he was able to get up and walk around him after surgery). So while other people may not recover from certain things, Locke certain can. Perhaps Jacob is behind it and sees Locke as his saviour so he repeatedly heals him. Perhaps even made the plane crash to get Locke on the island to save him? Okay...too deep, I know.Sudz wrote: but...if the island can heal gunshots....anna lucia..shannon and the other slutty chick would be alive and well.

The show vascillates between the real and the supernatural (pseudo science).
The monster went away for a long time. From mythical to pseudo science (the smoke could be a bunch of nanobots).
Then you had people having visions, Jack seeing his dead father and now, Ben seeing his dead mother.
Then you had the voices in the jungle, freaking people out. Which one was it who was first captured by Rousseau but then after escaping, hears these voices?
Of course the voices also caused Shannon to be shot. Then we didn't have voices for a long time.
Now Ben hears the voices as a child.
There was an assumption that The Others had these supernatural powers (Ethan being real strong, them burning some big black column of smoke before attacking -- but now, they're camping out when they're not having little book clubs or throwing football around).
So Ben comes to the island as part of the Dharma Initiative (and his father was demanding $30k more for being a work man? That was a lot of money back in those days) but there are natives or hostiles already on the island and it's a fight to the death.
Ben the sociopath kills his father and conspires to kill off the Dhama followers.
Now they introduce this mythical Jacob who's apparently not visible. More like something out of Amityville Horror.
It'll be interesting how they wrap up all this "pseudo science."
With shows like Heroes doing well and the popularity of comic superhero movies, it wouldn't be surprising if they play that supernatural card, you know, some people being "special" and having powers.
Speaking of "special" what happened to Walt, he's going to be a teen if they bring him back. The Aussie chick's baby is also suppose to be special too.

I have a theory, people see dead people on the island. Shanon saw Walt an wasn't he covered with water?wco81 wrote:Speaking of "special" what happened to Walt.
I think Walt and his daddy died leaving the island, drowned.
Aftter thinking about this last episode, I just don't get it. Locke and Ben were excellent together. But an invisble man? I just don't get it.

Yeah...I am still not sure how I feel about the invisible man stuff. Love the show and loved that episode, but even when it was happening, I just did not know how to react to the invisible guy thing. I go back and fourth from feeling it was creepy, to dumb, to really cool, to creepy and cool, to creepy and dumb, to just plain dumb and then back to cool and excited to see what comes of it.Danimal wrote: Aftter thinking about this last episode, I just don't get it. It did not make me lose faith in the show at all though. Just anohter weird, different turn in the continious plot craziness. If I can handle a smoke monster, I can handle an invisilbe man.

Well, Ben did seem surprised that Locke couldn't see Jacob and Jacob looked a lot like Locke with a wig in the brief snippet we saw of him.
I think they're on some sort of parallel universe and Jacob is a different version of Locke. That's why he has special abilities or powers on this island, because he's close to his doppelganger (for lack of a better word).
They've definitely hinted at parallel universes with Desmond's story line and the fact that there's so many parallels between everybody's flashbacks.

Speaking of dead people, Locke's dad was presumably dead. So now that he's dead dead, where will he go?
Parrallel universe sounds plausible. There is just a small connection between the two. The "hatch" device apparently disrupts that barrier and lets things in and out easier.
Seems like it's easier to come in than to leave though with the array of vehicles to have come in.

So the Looking Glass, eh? I wonder if that station is the means by which you can get to the island. That explains the sub docking station. Sub from island to LG, then by whatever means you go back "through the looking glass."
Loved the inclusion of yet another white rabbit as well.
So who are the women with the guns? Others sepratists hiding from Ben and his fatal fertility experiments? Refugees from the Dharma folks that Ben and his people exterminated? Is Naomi one of them planted on the island to try and enlist the Losties help in fighting the others?

I have a hunch one of them is Ben's little friend, the girl who gave him the doll.RobVarak wrote:So who are the women with the guns? Unless the previews of next week are totally misleading, it seems that the survivors plans to ambush the others fails pretty miserably.
Assuming that is correct, my guess would be the people in the station are Ben's cronies, and Charlie spills the beans about the ambush plans. How else would the others be one step ahead again?

I think Ben intentionally let the Losties know that Juliette was casing the pregnant women (by letting Locke overhear the tape and carelessly leaving it where Lock could get it) AND he made a show of launching the attack early expressly to get Alex to warn them. He knows that she's helped them before. His big speech about killing the men was done right in front of her. He knows that the Losties will be ready for them and is prepared for their ambush.Naples39 wrote:Unless the previews of next week are totally misleading, it seems that the survivors plans to ambush the others fails pretty miserably.

Just my thoughts.

Yeah, great to see Bernard and Rose again, strangely. Between them and the cable getting explained, it was like "things you think we forgot about" night. Wondering when/if they'll address the whole island virus plotline... though from memory it seems like there were already hints that the virus was a hoax? For whose benefit?

I watched 20 minutes or so, nothing that interesting, just re-hashing things that have been revealed. I caught the section where they talk about the smoke monster, and how it seems to 'download' information from people and about those flashes when it was chasing Juliet. They seemed to explicitly link smokey to the apparitions on the island, and talked about how it seems to judge people, so that was cool, I guess. All I know is Carlton and Cuse are a lot funnier and more interesting in their podcast.

Not really, just scan through it.RallyMonkey wrote:Did anyone watch the Lost special last night titled "Answers" or something like that? It's Tivo'd but just wondering if it's worth watching.

Amazing! I had a glimmer of an idea that it may be a flash forward when Jack went to the funeral. But damn!!
But what was the deal with Jack's dad still being around? Was that just the drugs talking, because Jack's dad should be dead? Or did everyone who ended up on the island die but come back?
Oh, and put me down for a fan of Jack in his bearded Jim Morrison phase.
Bernard is forever on my pay-no-mind list for cracking like a b*tch on the beach.
And the Charlie death sequence was wonderfully done. That conversation with Penny...the terminator-like resiliance of the Russian.
And the hell with all the critics who didn't like the van episode. That s*** paid off in the end with Hurley racking up his first kill

But it seems that he had a legit prescription. He might've been trying to snow the pharmacist, but they have DEA numbers etc, so I doubt it.Slumberland wrote:

At first I was thinking that Ben's warning about the "real bad guys" was about Widmore industries. The Hanso Corp's rivals could be seen as having nefarious plans for the Dharma project. But then I figured that what really terrifies Ben is the prospect of Hanso and the Dharma people realizing that Ben and his peeps had offed their employees and continued to milk Dharma for supplies.
Walt's appearance was cool. For some reason I was expecting a Mr. Eko siting, but Walt did just fine...

LOL. I agree on all counts. I have never been a huge Charlie fan but he got it done this episode. Bernard is a b*tch. His wife has a bigger set than he does. Great episode.RobVarak wrote:Amazing! I had a glimmer of an idea that it may be a flash forward when Jack went to the funeral. But damn!!
