I think it's more perception than a real problem. I looked in Lindy's FF mag, which has 2005 point values based on standard scoring (including 1 pt for receptions). I looked at the top 1/3 producers at RB, WR, and TE. For TEs, the top 7 TEs were withing 2/3 of Antonio Gates' production. The top 8 RBs were within 2/3 of Shawn Alexander's production, and the top 15 WRs were within 2/3 of Steve Smith. Considering you only have to start 1 TE, the discrepancy between the RBs is a much bigger issue.RobVarak wrote:The problem is that every NFL team uses them differently. Too large a % of the production is concentrated in too few players, which screws up the market a lot. Lumping them in with WR's makes much more sense, as the good TE's are still useful, but nobody gets stuck starting one of the glorified tackles or FB's that pass for TE's in some systems.Brando70 wrote:
I like keeping the TE. Every NFL team uses them, so I think fantasy teams should too.
Now, if you get a bye week or injury, yes, you can be scraping for a TE, but so is everyone else at least once per season. Plus, to nab one of the top 3 TEs, you're going to sacrifice somewhere else.
Just my two cents. I like the extra strategery of having to draft them.
