Lindner doesn't charge for his either. Man it's funny how serious these "roster" wars get. Who really cares?
He may not charge, but he steals and that has been proven. I think you would be pissed if you took the time to edit all those teams and then someone steals your work and passes it off as their own. Dude accepts donations from people for work THAT HE DOESN'T DO. I know each one of us had taken the time to edit a few teams. It's tedious. I'd be pissed too if someone did that to me. The guys don't ask for any money, all the want is the recognition for their work. I'm glad that we have a couple guys in the gaming community that are willing to take the time to do this for US.
All these guys do a great service to the college football gaming community, but it's like a friggin soap opra when NCAA comes out and all the roster makers fight for the "first release" of their roster set.

If Lindner did steal a roster set, he's sure gone a long way claiming his fame of roster creation - for all other sports games as well. He's even the one recognized by EA. That would be one hellacious set of balls.

Well, hell, recognition from EA doesn't mean crap. Don't they steal ideas from other developers and claim them as their own?

Roster squabblers:

Either get a room or start launching rockets at each other like Hezbollah and Israel.

This is a thread about the NCAA 07 demo, not about who is the Grand Poobah of College Football rosters. Knock it off.

Take care,

I thought that Madden on the field last year played a good game. Not really excellent but decent. NCAA seems from the demo seems to have all the nuts and bolts in place. Screens work. Quick passes work. It has a nice touch system. Overall I'm happy with that demo. Heck I'm more sure I'll spend 60 on the 360 version - before it was a must buy.

One thing that is bothersome with the 360 EA Sports titles is that the controls feel sluggish. I don't know if that's because of the controller or the game. Madden had a horrible feel. I felt disconnected with the controls. NCAA has a similar feel.

I'm a little worried about the other features in the game, however.
I just downloaded the demo and got through a few playings (well, a few partial playings, as my Xbox was crashing constantly). I agree with you that the nuts and bolts appear to be largely in place, but also that the control leaves something to be desired. It's a shame, as it was the incredibly fluid control in NCAA '06 that made that game such a blast to play. Part of me thinks that the problem is the level of detail that EA is putting into the player models, and that at some level it ultimately detracts from the sensation of fluid movement. (But then both NBA2K6 and FIFA:WC ended up feeling tremendously fluid while still sporting a very high level of detail.)

I am the 'original' roster maker! See the badge Atari gave me when I released Atari football rosters?

Agreed.. it's time to move on. I've been reading some posititves about the 360 version besides the camera issue. Hopefully the ps2 version plays better than '06.

According to Fairdale Kings, player names do not show up online.Unless it can be patched you'll be playing with QB#7 all season.Something else left out of next-gen football?

It is there. If you go to the Games and Downloads and select new, it should show up. I saw it there last night.

I did but my plan was always to pick one up for the 2007 sports games starting with NCAA. Now I'll wait and maybe pick one up to get Madden or NHL. I was hoping that NCAA would sell me on the system again but after playing the demo, that's not going to be the case.
After playing this demo I am selling My 360 :P

I know its just a demo but wow does the framerate chop and the graphics are which generation???...Im going to keep playing...I obviously cant tell after a few games but I sure hope the game play is better than the aesthetics..

So let me see if i have this straight. The 360 version of NCAA has one playable camera angle, the inability to edit equipment, the inability to create prospects in dynasty, the inability to use edited rosters online, players that get to the line of scrimmage in 2 seconds flat and playbooks that are less robust as the current-gen version?
Wow,what a let down for 60 bucks.

I don't understand the let down. It is the exact same situation that happened with Madden last year. It's not like it's a surprise.

I thought with more development time than Madden, it would be a bit more complete.

Hope springs eternal....Every first generation we hope that EA will make an honest effort...Ofcourse we are always let down....Kind of like every spring Cub fans think they might win something.

The playbooks are supposedly bigger. Next gen version only missing the team specific plays.

they are building from the ground up and with more development time, i'm sure it's leaps and bounds better than Madden 2006 on 360.

I'm enjoying the demo and went ahead and pre-ordered tonight at EB. I'm not particularly happy with the progress they've made as far as innovation (the only real new thing I saw on first glance was the "jump snap" option) and the graphics don't even seem as good as Madden 360, but it looks like they've cleaned up much of what plagued Madden in gameplay. I thought the last two NCAA's on Xbox were pretty much unplayable/unfun messes. It's good to see the CPU QB have more realistic stats with default sliders than the 8/24 258 yards stat lines I kept seeing last year in NCAA.

I managed to get my hands on the xbox copy. Its a solid experience. I have only played one game to date but I can say if I did not have a 360 or the 360 game sucked, I would be content with the xbox version.

After further review...Spending over a hour with the demo...The gameplay seems to be good. I will be buying it.

I apologize if I get this wrong, but I think you were one of the few that actually enjoyed 360 gameplay? With that said, I think they cleaned up a lot of the mistakes from Madden.

You are right there's little to know innovative features but then again what features SHOULD be in the game? Maybe getting the basics of football down should be a feature in the game.

Here's my frustration with the NCAA series. Because the basics were never right simple plays would turn into plays of frustration. Try running Air Forces Wishbone offense and 50% of the running plays were failures.

After extended time with the demo, the demo was the closest thing to real football I've played on any console. I'm not saying that its the best football game ever made but running simple plays should not be an exercise in controller throwing. I like how run plays aren't like in old NCAA games, where you'd try to suck everyone to one side, switch the run direction and go for the outside. That was the only way to get big yardage. I like that passing game has more options. NCAA (Xbox) was more about finding which plays worked. It had nothing to with the right play called or matchups. Because the xbox version had wonky AI, some passing routes were duds because of the jetpacking LBs, terrible ball trajectory and 3rd eye defenders. I've seen little of that in the demo.

If the game plays similar or better than the demo, this might be a classic.

I think the game is pretty darn good for a demo. Of course, things like AI, run/pass playcalling, late-game AI, trick plays getting called often, could be in the game. But

My son is getting a free copy of the 360...I certainly wouldn't pay money for it. After playing the demo and reading the 100+ page thread at OS, I'll be picking up the Xbox version.
