wow, web, your times are so much better than the rest of us! Care to share some pointers :D Do you just stay in a tuck all the way down?
Are you using a wax mixer or doing it yourslef? You think the wax makes that much difference? I guess that gives us someone to shoot for. if u prefer, you all can pm me your times and I wont post them untill they are all in for each event.

not sure what happened with "red", he hasn't posted here in a couple days. since the rest of us are done with 1-3, lets move on and he can catch up if he wants to. lets now do 4-6. dont forget to pm me your times.

p.s. I updated the results/standings on the previous thread.

No secrets here, Jack! :) I know the courses pretty well because I practiced a lot on them moving my created skiier up through career mode. You're correct that I'm tucked just about the whole time, though, especially in the DH and SG. I also keep carving to bare minimum, not touching the button at all in the DH, once in the SG, and about 3 times in the GS. Keeping away from that saves time.

I thought I was going to try doing my own mix for this, as I figured all of you guys were and it didn't seem to be all that hard from the way it is represented in the manual. However, I was running a little late with the events this weekend, and since I wanted to get them done pre-Sopranos, I just hired a mixer. (The Scottish guy) My mixes for these runs weren't that great, actually, all of them being in mid to high 60%s.

I still might try doing it myself for later runs.

I am tucked almost all the time in the DH and SG, but in the slalom, I almost never tuck....I build up too much speed and will miss the gates.
I always do great in practice, but when it counts, I choke and my thumbs freeze up :D

the #4 course is a slalom and it's tough! you really have to watch your speed or you'll miss a gate.

I can usually tuck for very short periods on slaloms, but yeah, not much at all.

How good are you guys at nailing your starts? I'm generally in the 70s to 90s, but I still feel like I should be more consistant.

My starts are pretty good usually between 70 and 95%. My problem has been after playing so much SR 2006, going back to Bode, has really thrown me off. I am sure after a few races, I will get back in to the swing of it though.

I do hate the slalom events. I really enjoy the GS.

I think the starts only matter a lot on the DH and SG courses.
You dont really WANT a lot of initial spped on the slalom courses.

I know Jack is playing Bode on the PC...and I am too. Not sure if the rest of you guys are playing the PS2 version or the PC version.

Anyway...I'm not a HUGE fan of Bode quite yet because of the floatiness I feel. It's like my guys isn't connected to the snow...and it's also hard to tell when you've messed up because it always seems like you're going the same speed. The graphics are a touch better from a texture standpoint...but I like that SR offers 1920x1200 support whereas Bode only does 1600x1200.

It just seems like SR is a better simulation of the sport because when you mess up, you know it and your times reflect that. The practice runs I made in Bode all seem to end up at about the same time no matter how good/bad I ran (assuming I didn't miss any gates)...where as in SR, my times varied quite a bit depending on how much I screwed up. There is a much smaller margin for error in SR, that's for damn sure.

Anyway...it's fun to be able to run with you guys and compare times though, so I'll live with Bode as long as you guys are doing this. When it's over, I will go back to SR though...it's just a better game. I keep wanting to go back and play it instead of Bode...but then again, I can't compete with you guys if I'm playing a different game.

I like both. SR is an excellent game Web, if you like Bode, I highly reccomend it.

I prefer the gameplay of SR slightly over Bode (although I still like the Bode Gameplay), but I perefer the career mode of Bode over SR.

I think both games have a lot to offer, and it's nice to have 2 good ski games to play.

I wasn't going to trouble myself with the bother of hunting down a copy of SR because I'm more a console gamer and I liked Bode a lot already. I also figured an import would be relatively expensive, but DB's link features a pretty nice price (Thanks!) Both games have gotten a good amount of praise here, so I figure I'll go for it.

DB, I don't know how much Bode you played, but the courses definitely get more challenging than these first few.

Jack, I also wouldn't object to reworking the points to get DB in here if it's okay with the rest of you guys. I think we're still early enough to accomodate that.

I'm DLing the SR demo now.

Db, I will redo the points as you post your scores and get you into the mix :) And yes, dont judge Bode by the first course. That first downhill course is rediculously easy compared to the ones you will do soon. The #4 slalom course it real tough. Funny thing is, that floatiness you talk about never really bothered me. It just feels "smoother" to control. It does feel a little more like you are skiing on ice and SR2006 makes you feel more like you are digging in the snow. I like the closer camera better in Bodie's game and I think the skier looks to stiff in SR2006 and doesn't animate as well as he turns. Actually, I would be happy playing either game, they are both qualilty games and simulate the sport quite well.

By the way, if anyone wants SR2006 (the PC version), just send me a pm. I can hook you up. But lets concentrate on Alpine 2006 for now and maybe do a season of SR06 after that. It messes you up a little switching back and forth between the 2 games.

Would you guys say that the SR2006 demo is a good representation of the full game?

How does career mode work? Do you have attributes that you can improve like in Bode?

Never played the demo, but yeah, the attributes can be improved in SR, kinda like Bode.

The career mode in SR2006 starts you off with a skier with limited attributes. I don't think there's a way to run the World Cup circuit with one of the real-life pros, but I could be wrong.
