I'd imagine it would be to prevent some spacey actor from slipping on some critical spoiler. Or, that the writers are really making it up as they go along and there is nothing to say to the actors more than a few days ahead of time.rayray00 wrote:Fox was also on Letterman the other night - he was quite giggly on there as well...He did mention that the writers kinda keep them in dark about what is going on - says it helps the actors to be more spontanious or something.
I'd like to believe the rumors that they have a 4 or 5 season story arc all mapped out. Just seems a little too hard to believe.
Wow a whole ep where everything takes place on the island!
There were flashbacks but actually the flashbacks filled in a lot of details about the main plot.
So another Dharma installation, this one with operating rooms and locker rooms with fake beards and theatrical glue. Mr. Friendly (the Others leader who made Jack give up the guns) without the hillbilly makeup. Hmm, why would they have to be incognito to strangers unless some of the survivors knew him from a previous life?
And maybe this is all some elaborate experiment to see what people would do in stressful situations like being stranded on some island with a mysterious hostile group of Others? Or a mother being forced to choose between staying with her baby or leaving the baby with other people who have just enough vaccine for the baby?
Of course Kate and Claire probably won't bother to mention to Jack and the others about their little escapade for several months, just as Hurley probably hasn't told anyone about the coincidence of his lotto numbers and the bunker. The lotto numbers appeared on the label of the bottle of vaccine Ethan injected into Claire.
Oh and how about Henry Gale f***in with Locke about who's the alpha male of the survivors?

I thought last night was really good. The layers are getting thicker. The relationships among the characters are becoming more dynamic, more interesting. It was nice to see the crazy French chick again (of course, I;'m and old Babylon 5 fan, so . . . ). Now there are several threads of 'truth' from different points of view, lots of stuff going on to individuals that the rest of the crew doesn't know about, understandings or beliefs about what is going on that only certain people share due to different experiences. We learned more about the Others, creppy! I think the beard makeup and the ratty clothes are meant to make the castaways believe the Others have been roughing it for a long time, or at least that's my thinking. Now we know they have just as nice if not better facilities as the hatch, and just look ragged for effect. Who is the 'He' the fake-beard guy was referring to with Ethan? One wonders. Creepy.
Good ep.
Good ep.
The disguise aspect was a great twist, totally didn't see that coming. Overall a good episode, I like the way they handled the flashbacks.
Javi, I think Kate is probably the only person Sawyer would give a gun too. I know I couldn't say no to her
I agree with Web, I didn't like the way Locke immediately reacted to Gale's otherwise interesting attempt to play head games. But all in all a very good episode.

I didn't mind that so much. It's been brewing for quite some time, and clearly that's why Gale started pushing those buttons. The reaction was a little quick and a little big, but this is a TV show and they needed to make the point efficiently.Brando70 wrote: I agree with Web, I didn't like the way Locke immediately reacted to Gale's otherwise interesting attempt to play head games. They have been weaving many threads of discontent and distrust for a while now. There will be lots for them to work with in the coming seasons. I await the great schism that will separate the group into two warring factions.

Well, I don't know why I didn't start watching this show when it started but I didn't. I did, however, spend the last month-and-a-half watching every episode and I've finally caught up to everybody. All I can say is I love this show.
Javi,
If you were shipwrecked on an island and had that kind of power wouldn't you give a gun to the woman you wanted to bang more than anything? Makes total sense to me.
As far as the Locke thing, they've been building up to this power struggle between Jack and Locke for quite a while now and you could see how it's been bothering him. It did seem out of character for him to snap about it almost instantly. I would have thought they'd let it build up a little after the seed was planted.
Can't wait til next week.

Red Hering on the Locke thing, personally I think he is just making Henry Gale think he is upset.
Also anyone catch the Henry Gale reference....we're off to see the Wizard. I think you'll find Mr Gale also crashed in a ballon in dorothy's land as well.
Great episode, still can't stand that no one mentions things to anyone else. Like Hey we found another bunker etc.
I was thinking Invasion has turned into the smarter show, but after last night Lost is tops again in my book.

I've turned into wco81 on this show. All I saw was more questions stretching into infinity and characters who act very oddly for no easily understood reasons.
Wake me when they around to Walt and Michael again or when something definitive happens.

Hurley told Jack about playing the numbers and winning in the lottery. Hurley doesn't like telling anybody that kind of stuff because he thinks that they will think that he's crazy.wco81 wrote: Of course Kate and Claire probably won't bother to mention to Jack and the others about their little escapade for several months, just as Hurley probably hasn't told anyone about the coincidence of his lotto numbers and the bunker. Oh, and the "numbers" appear just about anywhere there's a need for numbers, including Desmond's "vaccine" that he took just before leaving the hatch:

I believe this is when Hurley is in the airport:

Another in the airport (gate 23):

The video the CIA agent showed Sayid of his hometown being gassed:

Another interesting instance of the numbers is when Jack's future wife arrives at the ER and the other male driver also gets wheeled in and dies, the time of death is announced as 8:15.

This is something that I read a lot, and I don't quite understand. Nearly everything that gets found ends up getting told to everybody else, or at least Jack and/or Locke.Danimal wrote:Great episode, still can't stand that no one mentions things to anyone else. Like Hey we found another bunker etc.
It seems that people want a campfire episode, where everybody sits in a circle and tells each other what they found out that day. I don't want to waste a couple minutes an episode watching Kate, for example, going to Jack and saying: "They were dressing up." The response is pretty much going to be the same as ours: "Why the hell are they dressing up?"
I'm pretty confident that just about everything that they found out this episode will make its way down the chain of Lost command, it's just that we won't be seeing it happen (thankfully, I think).

Jack and Locke do keep info from the rest. Like the fact that they have Henry Gale locked up in the hatch.
They don't need a campfire episode.
But they should be all over the other Dharma installation. Kate only looked in one locker.
I'm sure they will mention it casually: "BTW, we found out where they took Claire and she was able to recall all these details about Ethan and the Others."
Then maybe Jack could say "Oh yeah? Well we have the world-renowned balloon-explorer Henry Gale locked up."

We only saw her look in one locker. I assume they didn't want to spend extra moments showing her searching them all. After all, this isn't Resident Evilwco81 wrote:Jack and Locke do keep info from the rest. Like the fact that they have Henry Gale locked up in the hatch.

Why would he give a gun to ANYONE? He found a way to get control of all the guns and then just gives one to Kate?
Makes no sense IMO.
I know that.
But 2 episodes ago, he looked like he didn't even care about Kate when he got control of the guns. He may want to f*** her(who doesn't), but the guy went to all the trouble to get all the guns and then gives one up? He knows Kate can turn on him on a dime and try to get the guns back. Why risk it? That's my point.

Perhaps Sawyer had one of his nice moments. Perhaps he will use it against her in the future?jLp vAkEr0 wrote: But 2 episodes ago, he looked like he didn't even care about Kate when he got control of the guns. I'm guessing he just didn't want to risk her going out in the jungle and getting killed by God knows what because he does essentially care about her, and he knows that they were going out into the jungle no matter what.
