Yeah.
I've been looking at the prices, at least in my area, in hopes of finding one not too high and avoiding any shipping costs. Over the weekend they have dropped just a tad but they are still going for I would say an average of 600$, for the Premiums.
The reports of the stores getting a few consoles are a little suspect if you ask me. How can no one on Op Sports and DSP not find one? I don't know when we'll see the 360, but I'm getting tired of looking.

states that roughly 400,000 consoles were available for launch, with a target of 1,000,000 in the US before the end of the year. If that were to hold true, then the bubble on the 360 should be about to burst at any moment. Essentially, for the forecast to hold, 600,000 units would need to hit retail in the next 3 weeks; a full 50% more than were available at launch. If true, the systems should appear on shelves this week. Of course, in all likelihood, the article mistakes the end of the year for the end of Microsoft's fiscal 'year' on the XBox clock in March...
Here's hoping there's still a chance of a 'white' Christmas (360 white) for the DSP folks still searching.

I agree, Sport. If they do hit a million by end of year, it probably will be pretty easy to get one by January at the latest. So even parents that can't get them for their kids by Christmas will hopefully be able to get them soon after -- and put the extra money they would have wasted on Ebay toward actual games. If nothing else, it's a good lesson in patience versus foolish impulse buying.
With all the "blame" being thrown around in this thread, I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the upcoming event that plays a major role in driving up the price: Christmas!!! (or your religious gift-exchanging holiday of choice)
It's bad enough that you have an overwhelming demand trying to procure a limited supply of goods...when you throw in a DEADLINE to purchase these goods into the mix, then all heck breaks loose. What you end up with is alot of gamers (like us) and people truly interested in the 360 competing with holiday shoppers who are so intent with checking off the block on their gift giving list, that spending logic flies out the window (and there are alot more of them then us).
There's no doubt in my mind that the ebay bubble will burst, starting on the 26th of December...it's really up to people to decide if 3 weeks is worth 2-3 times the cost over retail. Because unless you can be at the store when the "box hits the shelf", then all this resupply talk is just gonna drive everyone crazy.
Thanks, Todd. I really do appreciate it. That's what I'm looking for, but is about $240 more than I would pay if I can find a premium system at retail even if you add in the cost of the games.
I think Toper is right about the Christmas deadline and the Ebay bubble bursting. I just hope my original Xbox holds up until the new year. It's almost dead. I can play, but if I pause a game for longer than 30 seconds I get a DDE

It would be funny if someone won the auction from the same area and then told the guy, I'll just come by and pick it up.
Local pickup would have to be specifically offered in the auction. There are plenty of things on eBay like that where the shipping cost is pretty much the cost of the item, and not the bid price. This just keeps auction fees lower for the seller, that's all.

Toper- Great post. That is exactly what I have been thinking the whole time. Having a deadline with a hot hard to find item sends everything into a tizzy.

I would have gone $500 as well.
Anyway, if anyone is interested in:
Xbox 360 core unit
Wireless controller
DVD remote
HD cables
20G HD
Madden 360
COD 2
A friend of mine bought this from a guy at OS for $740. So he's selling it for $740 + whatever shipping you would like. He has all receipts as well.
If interested, PM me and I'll hook you up with him. I do know the guy, and don't blame him for wanting to break even. He's putting it up on ebay after today.
i don't even want one that bad but i keep saying i should have bought 2 and sold one on ebay and that would have paid for my own. It's crazy that ebay is what it is.

Yeah me either really.
Xbox 360 core unit
Wireless controller
DVD remote
HD cables
20G HD
Madden 360
COD 2
That's what happens when you get a core unit.. and why a premium unit is a much better deal.
Anyhow, not sure he'll even get $740 on ebay, but he might. He did tell me if he doesn't, I'll be the first to know a reduced price and I'll pass it on to you all.
I think a good bet is to snag a bundle online. Outside of Ebgames and Gamestop, I'm sure places like CC, Target will have a few online. They will go quickly.

Oh man, what a maroon. If I sued over every product I bought that didn't work correctly I'd... well I'd be a maroon like this guy!
As I said in another post, I had my 360 in an enclosed space, where it got VERY hot, and had not one lock up. Now that I've opened the space up more it's has cooled significantly.
So good luck with a recall pal, 'cause they ain't takin mine!

That's exactly what I did. Basically now mine is free and I've only spent money on the games. I'm not going to beat the pavement looking for another one, but if I walk into a store that has one, I will most certainly buy it and put it on Ebay.
