360's Are Coming!

Post by Atxj »

For all the 360-less I thought this might help a bit.

I had a friend that works at a different Target than mine tell me he thought they might get some on Friday so this makes me feel even better about it.

you know..

i don't know how people expected them to meet demand at launch. though, they should have though planned a 2nd launch date. would be a good marketing move in my opinion.

Sudz,
I think we all expected them to wave their magic wand.

I know I'm in the camp that said I was going to wait until Xmas. Look how that turned out.

Ok, not one store I talked to today had any idea they are getting systems for the weekend.

Do you think people will camp out again on thursday night, with the hopes a place might get them friday??

I called a bunch of places too and can honestly say that unless you talk to someone who works specifically electronics and knows a thing or two about the stores shipping they probably have no clue what they are talking about. For instance at the Target im working at right now we just throw anyone behind the electronics boat and have them work it. I talked to one guy yesterday asking him when we might get some and he told me today he really doesn't know sh*t about it he just follows suit with the rumors he hears.

Im willing to bet most stores won't even know they're getting them.

As far as camping, who knows. I doubt it just because the word won't be as widespread as say a launch.

Your best bet when going to Target, Walmart ect is not camping out. If you do that, all you are going to get is what was left over from the night before. Try hitting the stores around 10:30 to 12:00 in the morning. This is when they are going to be putting out new electronics.

I doubt it.

If a store gets any 360's I can't imagine them not being on the shelves at open, especially considering most stores stock overnight.

No necessarily. The electronics guy in my local Target told me that they get Video game shipments in around 2 PM. I checked it out the other day and 2 things were clear -

* He was telling the truth. There were 2 people opening boxes and checking in games and other video game stuff.

* I wasn't the only person he told this information to - there were about 15 young guys lingering around looking at the boxes (none of which contained 360's).

Most electronics stuff is stocked in the afternoon. Also, if you want to look at boxes, know that they come in 2 to a box. IE, there will be 2 pretty xbox boxes in 1 ugly brown box.

Well, not most electronics stuff period, but most electronics stuff that is sent directly from publishers and manufacturers without going to the warehouse first is received in the afternoon. This pretty much means that any product that gets couriered in (FedEx, UPS, etc.).

This includes systems (although Playstation 2's and XBox [first gen] now get sent from warehouse to my store [Nintendo's stuff gets couriered in always], but 360s won't hit the warehouse for awhile), games, music, movies, etc. .

If that's the case (that they're selling them as their receiving them, instead of receiving them and then selling them the next morning [which would probably be a much easier way of doing things, from an organizational standpoint]) I would check between 10AM-3PM at your local stores. Since it is a Friday, management will probably try to push them out as they're getting them, because department managers don't usually work on the weekends and prefer to be there when things like this are going down. Also, I'm sure that they feel like they're getting more credit from upper management if they're there when it goes down.

Remember, just because the 360s have come in, it doesn't neccessarily mean that the workers on the floor know that they're in. When asking if they've gotten it in, ask if they've checked their afternoon shippings. Where I work, games can sit in the back for days unless somebody who gives a damn is working and checks. Hell, I would catch hell when I would work days and grab the shipments on my way back from lunch. Manager: "Rob, we've got other stuff to work on right now." Rob: "Gamers are very impulsive - if we don't put [insert game here] then they'll just go somewhere else and get it instead. They won't wait until we put it out."

This is where people get the misconception that Wal-mart doesn't get games at the same time that everybody else does - most often they do, the workers just don't put them out and the evening workers don't have access to the lockup which houses them. Morning workers = full time people, which most often = older people who less often give a damn about gaming. Evening/weekend workers = part-time people, which most often = younger people who more often give a damn about gaming.

LOL - don't ask me, I am just stating things from what I have observed in "hunts" over the past few years. I have looked in an average of 5 stores a day all week. I leave my house around 11:15 or so and I just got home. So thats what I do, but then again I have not been too lucky.

I did see 12 360s today in toys r us - but they said, "those are just boxes"

BDunn,
Hell I would ask to check out the boxes. :)

This has gotten to the level of trying to get madden early or something stupid like that. I'm tired of going to the brick and mortar strores. And as I think about getting the system honestly the games are well good but not great. If I end up playing geometry wars and watching DVDs until the next sports games come out that's FANTASTIC. :x

What I don't get is you have stories in USA Today and elsewhere saying systems will be restocked this week, but no one I call hs any idea when they are getting them. I got the MS recall story today from 2 different stores, nice to see that rumor is spreading.

Online is worse, EB Games says not until March if you order one..March are you f***in kidding me. That is 4 months away, how is that even remotely possible.

I officially lost all hope, I mean nobody should have to spend this much time to buy something.

I told the lady at Toys R Us I wanted three of them until she told me they were boxes. I would have asked to check them out but they were way up high.

I might hit target again in a few minutes. Its either that, play WOW, wash my car or cut my grass.

I really hope those of you who are still wanting one gets one this week. At first I felt a little proud of myself for getting one, but now it's turned out to be a chaotic mess for those still searching. I'll enjoy the 360 more and more once everyone who wants one has one.

Every gaming website I check, whether it be OS or gamefaqs all the conversation is about these shortages. With good reason of course. Still, it's unfortunate that some of the more serious gamers on here do not have one as of yet. Can't wait to read everyones impressions about the system and the games.

Good luck.

BTW - I did go back to target near my house. By 1:45, they were all cleaned up from the stocking I saw them doing in the morning.
