BTW, Web, I should have asked God to give me the strength to not post here because that's pretty much the only reason I really want one. I feel like I just got kicked out of the fraternity
That and the frustration knowing that I could buy a truckload of the f*cking things even at ebay prices but can't pull the trigger because of fiscal discipline. You don't know how frustrating it can be to have your wife ask you every night..."why don't you just buy one on ebay and get it over with" but not have the ability to do so...LOL. I keep telling myself if I don't overpay for the 360, HDTV, etc. I can retire at 50!

You've found four f***in systems and I can't even find one for myself. Considering how many other people are probably out trying to find them to sell on ebay I might as well forget about owning one until next march. If I was looking for one to sell for profit I probably would have found it the first day. Sorry, just a little bitter ... not at the people selling them for profit, just that I can't find one to actually keep and play the PGR3 and PDZ I have staring at me from my game shelf.

Be strong! This too, shall pass! Remember the PSP! Look at the posts about it now!
Oh wait, you bought one of those.
The system's not worth the crazy ebay prices, IMO. The prices really do make selling the system tempting. But Hexic has proven invaluable in keeping me and the new baby entertained during late night feedings. That might already be worth the couple of bills I'd make by selling.
I'm actually surprised that somebody would be willing to sell a 360 to somebody else at cost right now. You are basically throwing away $300-$500 dollars if you do that, money that could be used to buy something for your wife or kids this Christmas, or donated to charity if you are feeling generous. It's not like we are talking about hording medication or something, not having a 360 in the next few months isn't going to kill anybody. Considering you could preorder one a few months ago with no problems, if somebody really wanted a 360 they would have had one last week.
And if it makes you guys waiting for one any better, the Xbox 360 isn't some life changing entertainment device, even if all of us 360 owners make it out to be one. The system is very cool, the games look great and and are fun to play, but it really isn't all that much different than the PS2 or original Xbox. I know now that I have a 360, I'm never going to end up playing any of the great games that I missed or haven't been released yet for the PS2 and Xbox. Considering the lack of games coming out for the 360 in the next few months, us current owners are still going to be stuck playing the launch titles when the 360 is readily available on store shelves. You late adopters will have the benefit of having played all the great current generation games, plus getting to buy the 360 games at a cheaper price, and you won't even be behind since we'll all still be playing the same games as you when you get one.
I have not found any since launch. The ones I sold, all 5, are all from preorders from back in May. I just plan ahead very well when $$$ is at stake.
Preordering during E3 was not a risk since if there was no demand I could easily get my 50 smackers back by canceling the preorder. In fact, between my GF and I, we had 6 preordered but they EBs near where I live got together, compared lists and cut us back.

Let me ask you something. Is there any reason to do more than a one day sale on anything anymore? I put my 360 on a 3 day auction, mainly so it would end on Saturday night and with a little over a day left, I have had one bid and just one watcher.
I'm thinking with all the announcements that there won't be any for a few more weeks that desperation may set in and the prices will go back up this weekend. Fair assumption or has the initial fever passed?

There's just too much money to be made on these to be a "good guy" If it was a matter of $50, sure I'd pass it on to a DSPer, but with a possible profit upwards of $400, I just can't do it. I could pay for half of my kids' Christmas with this money.
Nobody that I am aware of has ever asked or expected anyone to part with an X360 just to be a "good guy."
I know that Leebo and I wasn't implying that anyone had, I was just saying that if the profit margin was much smaller, say in the $25-$50 range, I'd be glad to sell mine to a DSPer at cost plus shipping.

I've felt 99.9 percent OK with the fact that I don't have an Xbox 360 at launch. It's not like someone ripped open my entertainment center and took my Xbox on 360 launch day, leaving me with nothing. And HipE's post has erased the .1 of a percent pangs of longing that I've had for Billy G's new wonderbox.
Well said, Hip! That said, I'm still sincerely happy for all of the cats who are enjoying their new 360s.
Take care,

For what you're selling, one-days are fine. Use multi-day auctions only when the item that you are selling needs exposure, like a rare vase or some other crap like that. Otherwise what you surmised is exactly correct, people only bid on stuff at the last minute because of the snipers.
As a tip, try ending auctions Sunday at 8PM eastern for maximum sniping.

Amen to that.
I would love to have a 360 right now, but this whole situation is f***in crazy. I'm not going to run around from store to store like a rat looking for cheese. (Not that I'm criticizing those of you that are, because I certainly feel the temptation.)
I do hope that by January, you might at least know when you could buy one!
Just put them up there and try to space them at least 15 minutes apart. People will buy them. Don't worry about no bidding yet. The majority of the bidding will occur right before the auction is over - espec now since there are so many up there.
Great post by HipE, I think most of his points are dead on. I'm worried now too that I suddenly have a big chunk of games I might not play anymore. For me, though, this launch *is* a good bit better than either the PS2 or first Xbox launches, and that's because I really embrace what the 360 is offering:
-A refinement and advancement of the Live interface, integrating it with the marketplace and PC connectivity.
-Commitment to bringing the gaming experience to HD. (I know I sound like I swallowed their marketing hook, line, and sinker, but it's true.)
Since I love Live, and I just bought a HDTV, this launch stands out as being far more remarkable in my mind....but much of that feeling is caused by the HD leap.
If you don't have a HDTV and are not much of an online gamer, add those to HipE's reasons why you're not missing much as well.
HipE's tone would be much different if two things happened:
1. He kept his original Xbox and was still allowed to play the new releases that will no doubt be released on the old Xbox.
2. Didn't find, or pre-ordered and was shut out anyway, his Xbox 360.
The system is truely revolutionary and it was the best $xxx I have ever spent on a system. I don't regret paying a marked up price one bit...
Sure, there will be a lull in the next two months for releases, but that's exactly why I kept the original Xbox around. Now I can at least Gamerang all of the new ones so I have some new and fresh content, while still enjoying the hell out of the 360 and the current crop of games.
Yeah, no HDTV for me yet. Hell, I just hooked up the S-Video cable on my 10-year-old 32-inch Sony Trinitron to the S-Video jack on my cable DVR, and the picture improved quite a bit. I was stoked! Poor man's quality TV!
I know, I know: I'm such an A/V Luddite.

PK

To be Jane Curtin to your Dan Akroyd in true Saturday Night Live "Point-Counterpoint" style, you have to admit that your opinion also is influenced by your love of all things electronic gadget. And there's no doubt that the 360 is one of the coolest electronic gadgets of the year.
Jane, you ignorant slut ... (Now, I realize I'm probably dating myself because that famous line was uttered on SNL before you were born, man!)

You don't have to be a gadget guy to love the 360, though. I'm not, (I hate cell phones, go CD instead of mp3, avoided the PSP, etc...)
and I really like the 360 for what it does, not just what it is.
What I am really curious about at this point (and forgive me if it has been mentioned somewhere in all of these 360 threads), but for those that do not have a 360 yet and desperately want one, did you not try and pre-order one?
I am curious at why the people here that want 360's so badly were not able to get one on launch. Did you pre-order and get pushed back because of the shortage?
If you never pre-ordered at all, why not? I know no one would have really anticipated this type of shortage (especially after the recent PSP launch when they supposedly were going to be short so many but you could walk into a Target or BB and get one that day/week), but why not be safe rather than sorry at launch?
Did you folks without one not think that you'd be interested and now are finding yourselves regretting it? If that is the case, then I am surprised. As much of video game fans and online gaming fans as we here at DSP are, I am really shocked that there would be anyone who truly thought they wouldn't want one after launch. (again, this is aimed at those who now want one, of course there are those few that were not and are still not planning on getting one for a while and have stuck to that).
So for folks like Leebo and all others in here desperately searching, what's your story?
My story has been told but it is simple. Had one pre-order, Boss came to me in August said he was buying the for Xmas what should he do. Told him what to do, canceld mine because I am not into selling them. Boss procede to order from the worst place in the world. Now we are left to find them on our own and me compenssated.
