The 16th sure doesn't seem like this weekend. The only thing I could see is Best Buy holding these too have 3 solid weeks of resupply, I guess if no one else is selling them it is a good strategy.

This whole thing just gets more puzzeling by the day.

Sure, are you interested in a Core if I can find one?

Are you willing to pay what DB did?
Not really. Im only in it for the premium at this point. It's not worth it to get all the accesories for an extra 200$.

How much are you willing to pay for a premium if I find one?

My point is that someone would have to be the stupidest person on the forum to send you an X360 without a significant markup since you already made a nice profit on DB.

I am *not* saying that it is bad to make a profit on the X360 if someone is willing to buy. I'm not saying that people should give away extra 360's to forum members to be nice guys. Hell, I'm an Economics major and a CPA. I am saying that there should be consistency. I am selfish and would be really pissed if some benevolent forum member sent you an X360 at cost without asking me first because I never had one and I haven't sold one for profit.

Well, I'm back from my second run with nothing except for a little information. I talked to my old manager at Gamestop and he said that Gamestop did receive a shipment this week ... 1000 units for the entire chain!?! So he said they were shipping two (yes, two) units to the top 500 stores and that was it. 8O He did say that his store was expecting some units next week but he said with the 30 preorders left to fill he expected he wouldn't get enough to have over the counter sales until next year. So it looks like this "on store shelves by this weekend" business was marketing speak for "we've shipped out a handful of units and they'll be gone so fast that you'll probably never know they were there."

So that's it, I'm done with searching. I'll pick one up when I happen across one when doing my regular shopping or I see one online. I've spent way too much time trying to find one already. But hey, at least I've got the rest of the afternoon to play my old Xbox when I would have normally been at work.

Leebo,

From "God, please give me the strength to *not* buy one of these systems" to "I better get one of these things from a lucky forum member before the (@^$#($ idiot sells it to a guy making money off of this."

I love system launches.

Two? I can't figure out just two! Let's pretend there's 200!

I've only got 450$ left so it wouldn't be any more than that.

To start with, Db paid an undisclosed price that it had already sold for. That was his choice. I had put it up on eBay for a significantly higher price and someone bought it with Buy-It-Now. The guy ended up folding and never paid. Db asked how much it was, I told him, and he offered to pay that price instead of me re-listing it on eBay. I didn't go into the transaction with the intention of heightening the price for db, I was going to sell it for that much on eBay as it was and db offered to pay that price.

I had no intentions when I got in line last Tuesday night of getting a Core system and told myself that if that's what it came down to then I would buy it strictly to resell for a profit because I knew the demand would be there.

In addition to all this, im 17 and don't have a source of income as most of us do here on the board. I made the money for my 360 by selling off my Xbox, games and accesories.

I went to a few stores this morning... and nothing - I have yet to hear of a retail chain(walmart, target, ect) getting a new shipment in. I don't think I will be checking on the weekend either.

When calling around this morning I got the 15-16th from alot of stores. Systems arriving the night of the 15th to be sold on the 16th.

At this point that could be all speculation but that was the common response.

All I know is that I love you cats, but if I stumbled upon a 360, I would put it on eBay immediately for maximum profit. The market is too hot to ignore that kind of cash, and it would be strictly business, boys, strictly business.

I've happily purchased NTSC games that aren't available in the UK for DaveT and sent them to him at cost. But the market isn't exactly smoldering for NHL 2K6 for the Xbox here in the U.S.

If my scorched earth sales policy regarding the 360 makes me a bad guy, then I have no apologies. Call me Dr. Evil. :)

Take care,
PK

No s***. I probably would too. I thought I made that clear in my post. But I wouldn't come back asking for another one from someone for no markup.

I agree. I misunderstood. My reading comprehension is suffering today. :)

The rule regarding obtaining an Xbox 360 this month is pretty simple if you're not lucky and find one at retail: You've got to pay -- dearly -- if you want to play.

Granted, there are benevolent guys like Sport who are willing to hunt down 360s for guys and sell them at cost plus postage, but for people to expect that to be the norm around here when these items are so damn hot and profitable right now is a bit far-fetched.

Take care,
PK

That pretty much covers it.

I don't expect ANYONE to NOT sell an XBox 360 for profit. F*ck, sell the system for $2,000. Sell it to someone here for $1,999.

But I don't think it's good form to sell one for profiit and then ask for another one. I don't think that's being "hard" on someone.

Exactly. Who said that? I certainly didn't. In fact, I went out of my way to point that out.

I thought it was $520 or $550.

Regardless, I never said one bad or harsh thing about ATX. I'm sure he's a great kid.

You're right pk. I just put my 2nd one on ebay yesterday. There's just too much money to be made on these to be a "good guy" If it was a matter of $50, sure I'd pass it on to a DSPer, but with a possible profit upwards of $400, I just can't do it. I could pay for half of my kids' Christmas with this money.

No worries Leebo, I know what you were pointing out, im just really desperate to find a system and I don't have enough cash to pay an inflated price for one.

Back on topic. Im heading to Dallas in a few hours for a soccer tournament and plan to stop at various spots along the way to check and see if maybe I can strike gold.

If I find anything I will let everyone know.

Nobody that I am aware of has ever asked or expected anyone to part with an X360 just to be a "good guy."

That's cool. I don't blame you for *asking*.

I just pointed out that someone would be stupid to sell you one and the whole thing was misunderstood :D

If someone really wants to be "a good guy" they should sell the 360 and give the proceeds to charity.
