Yea yea yea but did you not even look at the file, save it and transfer it to your action replay? Only to THEN notice it was CH 2K5. :P

At least I managed to make an asss of myself without starting a new topic. Sorry about that. Next time I will read before i post.

The one that they are working on is about half done if anyone wants to mess around with a 1/2 done roster the roster is close to the bottom of page 17: http://forums.operationsports.com/vBull ... 15&page=17

Well BD was right, some stores have them but they don't check the boxes. They had it in the stack on the floor.

Anyway, I'm struggling to play this game. I like the college style of ball more so than the NBA. I love running the Princeton offense. I'm a little disappointment that coaches don't have their team specific plays. Maybe they do but they go to default for the human player.

I hope there's a way to sim the recruiting and training parts of the game. I don't care for those and wish I could at the least turn off the training/coaching aspect of the dynasty mode.

I blogged this tonight but since impressions are light, here's a my one take.

Another busy day for me so I wasn't able to get a game of CH in until this evening. First impression is a good one. Here's a few thoughts based on a game with East Carolina (me) and Utah State on All Conference level w/o any slider changes.

* I won 63-56! This game rules!
* Not one funky reverse layup animation! Thank god.
* The control feels a lot like NBA 2K6 although not quite as refined.
* Same FT system as NBA 2K6
* Gameplay has the same feel as CH 2K5. (A good thing)
* Much better animation from top to bottom. Still a tad on the stiff side but several new animations which look a lot better than last year. (being able to crossover and take it to the basket ...awesome)
* The play by play is very quiet on default settings. I had to lower the crowd and other sound settings just to hear the PbP.
* I don't miss the ESPN license at all (thus far).
* My biggie: 3 pointers. On default settings and 10 min halves, Utah State took 10 3's, which is a lot better than last year. That said, there is something that I need to keep an eye on: the Aggie SG (an 85 rated 3 shooter) took several shots where his feet were barely on the 3 point line. The set play seems to not take the SG out far enough. If the 18 footers were counted as 3's Utah State would have fited about 15 3's for the game.
* Of the 10 3 pointers, the 3 point stud took 6, and a 77 rated SF took 2 and the backup SG took 2. If the CPU will shoot 10-20 per game that will be much better than a team shootiong 1 or 2, which happened a lot last year. I'm gonna try a game with a team w/o a 3 point ace to see if anyone fires off a 3 next.

I'll go over some observations College Hoops 2K6 that hasn't been covered.

* CH 2K6 has options galore, from the addition of drills in Practice mode to making coaching adjustments on the fly even on ~30 second dead ball situations. The ability to make zone substitutions is perhaps the biggest addition in my eyes. This just adds so much strategy and flexibility as far as how you want to guard certain teams with very few good on-ball defenders. This game has so many options that are great to see.

* Along with a lot of plays that's been in the series for a while now, there are new offensive plays added that specifically designed to open gaps and seams in the 2-3 (which could also apply for 1-1-3) and 1-3-1 zones. You also have the ability to call the press or wave it off on the fly. And by the way, you can call up to 8 offensive plays on the fly now. The initial four are assigned with the normal up, down, left and right on the D-pad, plus another four can be assigned with L trigger + up/down/left/right. I've been craving for something like this to be added for years, and now it's been taken care of. Nice job, VC.

* There seems to be a few post moves added. I was messing around with Paul Davis -- who's a dominant post player in this game -- and did some moves I haven't seen before which ends up with him laying the ball in. It's more direct move than an up-and-under since he does no fakes prior to going up with the shot. I do them by pressing left/right on the Shot Stick with back to the basket, but I still don't know the criteria to pulling those moves off. I think it depends on how defender's guarding the post player that determines when move can be done (arm bar or no arm bar on the back?), along with distance (is the post player close enough to the basket?) and obviously low post skill rating. Anyway, once I find out I'll post what I know. Still have the standing hook shot and sweeping hook shot in the arsenal. Also, turnaround and fadeaway jumpers out of the post are easier to make provided the player gets a clear look at the basket over the defender. Seeing the different ways a post player can turn or fade back on his jumpers out of the post, it's not easy for the post defender to stay in front or stay close enough to bother the shot, let alone manage to do both.

* Dual Player Control is still mixed up. You have to press left to post up and right on the D-pad to come off screens, which is the opposite of what's explained in the training video.

CH 2K6 for the Xbox is a brilliant game. All that's missing is an eventual update the Triple Threat moves as well as some other polished gameplay mechanics that the X360 version of NBA 2K6 has which I'm sure will be included for X360 CH 2K6. And once that version drops, there may be a good chance I never touch X360 NBA 2K6 again.

A few clicks of the 3 point tend. slider and I had Bucknell fire off 10 3s in the first half of a 14 min half game.

Hell yes.

After playing NBA 2K6 on the 360, I cannot wait for CH. There's no way I'm going to buy CH for the Xbox after what I experienced on the 360! Seriously, if CH plays close to how NBA 2K6 plays on the 360, I will be in gaming heaven.

IMO, NBA 2K6 is a system seller and I'm not even a big NBA fan. In fact, it's the best sports game I've ever played. CH could very well succeed that.

I'm extremely happy to hear how well CH plays this year. That bodes well for when it releases for the 360 in January.

I only played one game, then bolted to a buddies house to gameo n his 360. Few questions:

1. I can't get the hang of the controls, are one of the alternates a duplicate of last years?

2. Is there a camera that is simlar to last years game?

Yep.

Yep. All the camera angles that were in CH 2K5 are also here.

Anyone having problems with getting (user controlled) players to jump for a rebound on offense? It seems like almost anytime I shoot, then switch to the player closest to the basket on a miss he will not jump. I use Control Option C if that matters.

Only played one game on whatever the default settings were. I was Indiana, played at Iowa, lost by around 7. I was not used to the controls at all, so it took a bit of learning to get going. But I was impressed with the CPU ball movement. They did a good job of going inside, then kicking it out if I collapsed my defense in the paint. Presentation seemed really good and overall the pace felt like a Big Ten college game. Can't wait to start a dynasty.

One minor annoyance: the game doesn't stretch all the way to the sides in 16:9 mode, which is a bit annoying when playing on a plasma. I may have to disable widescreen on the dashboard before playing so that the game fills the screen.

You know, I've noticed this in NHL2K6 as well. Seems to be a 2K hallmark!

One minor issue you will find in the Big Ten is they messed up the center court logo for Indiana. I have no idea why because they had it right last year? Anyway it is supposed to be the white state with IU inside. The game only has IU. I would not even mention this if we were talking about a mid-major but Indiana is a screweup worth mentioning.

Also some of the larger schools do not play the right school song. Stupid part is they have a create a team feature that is pretty much useless (since 300+ teams are in the game) where you can select and use any fight song available. Yet in the Edit an Existing Team mode they do not have the option to change the fight song. Which would have been the easy solution instead of replying on your Q&A guys to get it right.

Atmosphere is a big part of college hoops. If you are a fan of Indiana and they screw up your court, and have the wrong fight song I can see where you might get a little miffed.

Highly annoying. All 2k games are like that. It's widescreen alright, but it doesn't fill the screen completely. More like 14:9. I wouldn't disable widescreen on the dashboard though, 4:3 stretched is awful looking.

OT for this thread, but for anyone with 2k games for the 360 (and a HDTV), does NBA 2k6 and NHL 2k6 exhibit the same issue in 720p on the 360? I sure hope not.. I haven't picked up either game yet, waiting for some reviews.

Only 2 conferences left for those waiting for the 2K6 roster on Xbox.

Would any guru mind updating me on something. I like the coaches mode, but do not like being limited to the lower level schools. Is this still the same as last year. I would like to start a coaches dynast with Dayton, but do not think I will be able to.

Also last year Dynasty stats where a mess, esepcially the tracking of previois seasons awards and stats. Has anyone had a chance to sim a few to see how stats are looking?

Edit N/M I never played the Coach Mode last year (I did not even recall seeing it). ;) I only played Legacy mode where you could play with any team by changing it to open.
