I'm with you JRod. I haven't played NBA 2k6, but if it plays as good as everyone says it does, CH is going to be pure bliss.

Just wanted to add my thanks and agreement with the posts here. I downloaded the NBA Live demo and was actually really digging it, but I'd already sent my wife out to pick me up NBA2k6, so I was really hoping it would be better and that I hadn't made a mistake.

While I miss the 'freestyle' controls of Live (I like being able to easily control crossovers etc.), 2k6 is the better game, and quite possibly the best game on the 360 right now...

As most of you know, you can control crossovers etc. but it will take my time to learn the more complicated controls.

The game is STUNNING to look at, and blew away my neighbor who stopped by for a quick game or two last night. I think it's gotten a bad wrap with reviewers, because the player models and textures are often frighteningly realistic. I replayed one of Shaq's dunks for my neighbor, and both of us agreed that it looked 'real' - not sort of, kind of, squint your eyes real - REAL REAL. He beat me (Heat vs. Celtics) and he does not game often, so the game is easy on rookies but rewards solid play.

I bought 5 launch titles: Madden, COD2, PGR3, NBA 2K6 and NHL 2K6 and all but one scream 'next-gen' experience. The only one that fails is NHL 2k6; not that it's a bad game, but it is virtually identical to the XBox release; you can barely notice the graphics upgrade from gameplay OR (auto) replay cameras. Plays solid, but doesn't hit you with anything to make you feel like it's next-gen.

I'm loving Madden & NBA 2K6, PGR3 is a nice diversion but I haven't played online yet which is where I expect it to shine - same goes for COD2.

As I stated many times, this system is just VERY IMPRESSIVE. NBA 2k6 would probably be the title I recommend EVERYONE (that plays sports games) gets, it is the most complete overall package or gameplay and graphics available on the system today.

My only concern will be the player model faces. Because there are so many NCAA teams, you'd think there'd be a lot of duplicates. That's minor I know.

Ok, you goofs have convinced me to buy this despite the fact that I haven't bought an NBA game since about 99, and despite the fact that I really don't like the NBA. Now THAT'S a forum effect!!

Impressions to follow.

To anyone that has the game...has VC gotten rid of that herky jerky, pop into position animation problem that they've always had with their basketball game in particular? Or at least toned it down? Thanks.

This game is out of this world! This game screams next gen! Wow. I'm floored. Seriously, this is such a joy to play that it's hard to put in to words. Not only does it look gorgeous, but the A.I. is the best I think I've ever seen out of a sports game. I'm amazed.

I should preface by saying graphically, the fans and coaches do not look much different from the Xbox version, but the players......and the courts....wow wow wow! Beautiful only begins to describe it.

The game plays silky smooth and the animations just seem that much more fluid and realistic. Hard to describe but it truly has the feeling that you're watching a real NBA game. The clarity and crispness of the picture is spot on and precise.

IMO, this game is easily worth the $60 upgrade. To take from the NBA, I love this game!

I don't mean to sound like I'm going overboard beacause of the awe of a new system but this game is simply fabulous. Yes the graphics are undeniably sweet but it plays the smoothest game of hoops ever. Yes, its a port of the XBOX version but its obvious that VC took advantage of the available power of the 360. Too many things are done right on this game for it to be a flash in the pan. I'm enjoying it immensely. I really don't know what Gamespot ( 8.3 ) and IGN ( 7.8 ) were thinking. If NBA2K6 is a 7.8 I'm Pete Maravich.

I picked this game up today based on all of the positive impressions here and at OS. I'm not an NBA fan or even a fan of basketball games in general, yet I had to see what all the fuss is about. I've really been enjoying COD2 and didn't want to spend much time with NBA2K6 yet, but I wanted to at least put it on for a few minutes just to see how the game looked. That few minutes turned into six straight exhibition games played from start to finish, even when I was getting blown out. In that time, I don't think I ever once skipped over a replay, and quite a few times I actually went into replay mode manually to check things out. This game really does live up to the hype, if it can hook a non NBA fan like me, I can't imagine the heaven you big hoops fans are in. Amazing, just amazing, from the presentation and graphics to the gameplay. It really does feel like you are playing god and controlling real NBA players on a HD television broadcast.

I picked this game up today and played a couple games. In HD the graphics when the action is happening is great. If you happen to walk by and glance at the TV while the play is happening it looks like a real game is going on. I might be in the minority but I wasn't that impressed with the graphics during cut scenes and replay close ups of the players and coaches. They aren't too bad but it's extremely obvious they are animations and not super realistic looking faces. The muscle definition and sweat beads on the skin are done extremely well though.

The gameplay is very good although after only 2 games it's a little too early to know how great it really will be long term. I'm just getting use to it but so far it's a very good game. Out of the box the substitutions are a little curious but I haven't looked into tweaking it so that may not be a problem long term.

So, it's time to talk sliders. I'm playing on All-Star default and am getting beat by a good 15 to 20 points a game.

Moving down to Pro seems too easy, so I'm wondering if anyone has made any adjustements to the All-Star sliders?

I thought I remember having some good sliders on the Xbox version. Just can't remember whose they were and whether or not they would transition over to the 360 version.

I input Jistic's from OS xbox sliders, and they seem to have translated fairly well. I started my Association with the Bulls. fouls are called for both human and cpu, but the cpu calls seem to be a little excessive (I normally get the crib points for 16 FT by the middle of the 2nd quarter) but the games are pretty competitive, what may start as a blowout, normally evens itself out by the 4th quarter. I'm playing at the superstar level with 9minute quarters slow speed. averaging about 95-105 pts per game.

Same exact thing here. Although i made a run against the Heat (with the Celts) and lost on a Dwayne Wade three at the buzzer. The the Magic beat me by nearly 20. Help.

Here you go, remember they are for the xbox version.. where ever there is a discrepancy in the amout of ticks between the systems, I just counted back or up from the 360 default.

"Ok I got my priorities straight and have the full update. I counted every slider and even listed the default for convenience. I am very happy with these, although I have two minor issues.

1. The foul settings are cranked. The goal is to get about 20-30 FT attemps per team. Sometimes the CPU doesn't get there that much, other times they do. However there are games when the human will get there 40+. That does happen on occaision on the NBA. If that bothers you then turn down shooting fouls. I am looking for as much realism as possible.

2. Some games the CPU just doesn't wanna shoot the three too much. Others they go nuts. If you have a game when the CPU doesn't fire it much, don't crank up that slider too much. Because then they start getting crazy and firing it at will. The teams/players do matter. I found game to game this setting works best. I've seen anywhere from 6 to 30 3pt attempts at this setting.

**Note. I haven't noticed any differences with adjusting Human tendencies. Feel free to mess as you'd like, but I don't see a reason to. Also remember to play a few games when testing. If you run an uptempo game, of course the CPU will have more FG attempts, etc. Let me know how these work for you. I am very happy how from game to game they work. Especially like how teams go hot and cold. You may see a team shoot as high at 65% in a half, but tank in the other half and end up at 44%. All my per game averages are right on Par with the NBA per game high/lows. You should see that as well. Enjoy!

OK, this is weird.

How do you do the defensive crouch? I thought I heard someone here say you use the left trigger, but in my manual, it says that the left trigger has no function.

I really cannot believe how bad NBA Live is compared to 2k6 from a gameplay point of view. It really is night and day.

Now, the graphics on Live are better...but come on, can we please get rid of the skating across the court? And who decided on those fonts...they are so tiny, you can barely read what's going on. And this is on a 46" TV...

Anyway...it just goes to show that most of us really aren't graphic whores when it comes to the underlying game. NBA 2k6 may not be as pretty as Live but it completely dominates it when it comes to on the court action. Plus it still looks pretty damn good anyway...

Agree with you 100% db. Downloaded the NBA Live demo, and me no likey at all. 2K plays like a dream, and Live has such an awkward feel to it.

It's funny to read all the mainstream reviews give Live such kudos for "taking chances", when the game is such ass.

Yeah I rented Live just because I wanted to see what all the fuss is about...I'm definitely glad I purchased 2k6. It was a known commodity though since I loved the Xbox version of it.

Which reminds me...the big deal to everyone was the next gen interface in Live. I think it's garbage. It's much too complicated and like I said before, the font selection was horrible. I definitely had a better time with the tried and true 2k6 interface. I don't really care how the menus look...I just want the game to play well. Seems like Live ONLY cared about the interface and graphics. Oh well.

2K6 just demolishes Live. The animation transitions in 2K6 are incredible. The isomotion seems to be better/smoother. The unbelievable graphics make the animations THAT much better. The CPU has been nailing 3s left and right on me so I'm anxious to try these sliders.

I still can't get over the fact that the Live cameras can't keep up with the action on all the side/broadcast/press box views.
