NBA 2K6 360 Impressons

Post by Boom »

Well, finally pulled away from Madden and PGR to really take this for a spin.

If NBA Live looks better than this, then just WOW because IMO NBA 2K6 looks friggin INCREDIBLE. Way more so than any of the HD vids I saw online.

The controls are tightened up quite a bit it seems. Just seems to play a tigher, more controlled game. Right now I really think I have fallen in love with this thing.

Gameplay for all intents and purposes is untouched, but just the much improved graphics and tighter controls, IMO, was worth the upgrade (from Xbox 2K6 to 360 2K6). I'm glad I didn't just keep the XBOX version and then pick up Live for the 360... i'd be kicking myself.

Abso-friggin-lutely :) I couldn't agree more. Dont worry about Live. I DL the demo and its pretty but not near as impressive as 2K6. I can't wait to REALLY get into it :) Enjoy!

Boom,

Your early impressions echo the ones over at OS. This game sounds like an early front runner for game of the year. I honestly haven't read a negative comment about this game yet!

After playing NHL2k6 and NBA2k6 on the 360, I don't see how anyone could go back to the regular Xbox. The new animations really stand out, the controls are tighter, and the games are much more polished overall. I'm extremely pleased.

NBA2K6 really is sick. Again, I'm flustered with excitement right now

Just a fantastic game. If you've played the Xbox version, you know what you are getting, but the gameplay is much smoother, particularly when you are using Isomotion. The combination of the controls upgrade and the graphics upgrade make the overall experience much more enjoyable (and it was pretty enjoyable to begin with).

I don't see any way that Live can be better than this.

Will someone please tell me if they fixed the matchup bug where the center guards the point guard for a few quarters and if they fixed the CPU sub logic and foul sub logic? Graphics aside, it's a no sale for me if they didnt address this.

Bill,
I won't lie to you and say that they have. I don't know. I played a couple gams earlier today, and didn't notice any of those things.

I do recall playing the XBOX version online and bitching about that happening. I haven't seen one thing in this game to make me upset.

My sub patterns were pretty good on default. I didn't pay too much attention, but nothing made me thing "what the hell?" or "when am I gonna get some subs in". Well, maybe the fact that I was getting Earl Watson in instead of Earl Boykins... but I can't stand "nutsack", so I was happy about that.

Hell, I see the match-up bug sometimes on the Xbox version. Not as much as Bill though. What I can't stand is that on auto-subs the AI will keep in my bench for rediculous amounts of time.

The developer at OS said all those problems would be fixed in the 360 version.

I've yet to see any of the problems that I had on the XBOX version show up here.

I think this is as close to perfection we've ever seen. It very well could surpass NCAA Football 2004 on my list.

Just played another game of NBA and I can't get over this game. So much more smooth than the XBOX version. Responsive controls. Im so glad to see the defensive crouch button. I just love how the graphics stay consistent throughout. I was expecting some poppoing etc. but nothing. Animations have definately been cleaned up. I had Iverson doing the jumpstep, the step back three...broke the defenders ankles - awesome. This is my favorite title so far. COD2 is very nice but I only had it in for like 10 minutes just to see it. From what I saw its gonna be an awesome game.

GET NBA 2K6!

Man, you guys are killing me. Every little bit of praise is like a little knife...cutting away at my 360-less soul.

This game right here just goes to show that most sports reviewers don't know s*** abouta great game when it slaps them right in the face.

I've played several games now and have not complained or moaned about one damn thing. That's never happened.

I'm looking to find something to complain about, and I can't find it.

Come on Scoop. No way that's a screenshot for NBA 2K6 on the 360. That's gotta be the XBOX version.. or hell.. .maybe even PS2. It definitely doesn't look good enough to be 360. :)

So for the guys that have it, how about some more impressions. NBA 2k 360 is rental for me. I hate pro bball, but if the 360 is this good that gets me excited for College Hoops.

I think it says a lot about the game when we're all struggling to come up with something critical to say!

Looks really good on my conventional TV. Can't wait to see this in HD glory when my back-ordered TV comes in.
