OT: LOST Season 3 Discussion **** SPOILERS ****

You may be right but that would be lame. I am just tired of watching the same rehashed storylines just using different characters.matthewk wrote:Anyone else sense that maybe we're being played here? Shannon got shot at the end, but is she dead? The whole "one of these survivors will be lost forever" could refer to the one that disappeared right after they climed up the cliff.
My bad, it is Michelle.wco81 wrote:It's Michelle Rodriguez. Some are calling her Butch Cassidy.
That brunette in Invasion is hot. But not enough to make me want to tune in to an obvious Lost-wannabe which is going to tease with the mystery.
Invasion is nothing close to a Lost wannabe. It's more of a broken family drama mixed with X-flies like mystery. I guess, like Lost, there is a continuous progression from episode to episode, rather than the encapsulated type of stories that used to be the norm. But unlike Lost, the plot actually moves in a forward direction from week to week. They seem to have a good handle on the pacing. And I really like the family drama aspect of the show put against the background of this ubiquitous threat. The thing with the HS kid and the doctor/Sherriff's wife, the way that ended, was pretty cool.
Whatever, I'm liking it.

I don't think so, only because the actress was on some talk show saying how she is on 3 other shows right now after finishing Lost. I guess she could be lying though.matthewk wrote:Anyone else sense that maybe we're being played here? Shannon got shot at the end, but is she dead? This show made a tremednous comeback last night. I haven't hated the last few episodes like some others, but this was very well done. Perfect way to take us through the first 48 days with the other half of the survivors and a very cool way to bring the "others" more into the story.
And i'm sorry, but i like Ana-Lucia. I think she's got moxie.........and Rally dig's chicks with MOXIE!!!!

Yeah but they showed she was a girl after all, as she snuck out to cry about having to be so tough.
If Nathan was innocent, she may have gotten him killed by throwing him down the hole.
Then again, he said he was from Canada, like Ethan claimed to be.
If she had suspicions about Goodwin, the supposed Peace Corps volunteer, why didn't she throw him down the hole as well?
Goodwin seemed to be surprised by the Dharma facility.

I think she had a feeling, and i tend to agree, that they were both involved and used the hole as a way to seperate the two of them. If that weren't the case, why would Goodwin have snapped his neck? To me that was a move to protect himself. He really would have had no reason to kill Nathan unless they were part of the same team would he have?If she had suspicions about Goodwin, the supposed Peace Corps volunteer, why didn't she throw him down the hole as well?
And she can cry all she wants. She still does something for me in that Angelina Jolie, sweet lips, "hit this hard", sort of way................hmmm, looks like it's time to see my therapist again.Yeah but they showed she was a girl after all, as she snuck out to cry about having to be so tough.

Yeah I fell for the obvious dupe last night. Nathan = Ethan, from Canada. I don't usually fall for such ploys. Of course if I was paying attention last week I would have know it was the other guy.

I thought the same thing. It was like, "whoa, I've been stuck on this island for how many years now and haven't found this bunker yet, and these idiots stumble onto it in the first week?"wco81 wrote: Goodwin seemed to be surprised by the Dharma facility.

They could both have been moles and Goodwin killed him to protect his cover.Danimal wrote:Yeah I fell for the obvious dupe last night. Nathan = Ethan, from Canada. I don't usually fall for such ploys. Of course if I was paying attention last week I would have know it was the other guy.
Then again, Nathan wanted to go to the beach instead of go into the jungle.
Or the producers know fans are dissecting every detail and playing around with anagrams of names, words, etc.
OK, I love the show. I enjoy it a lot. Still . . .
Weren't there some 37 originally with that second group? What happened to them? All those folks running around on the beach, and like 5 days later there's the 4 new characters and their hangers on.
No way the poor guy she originally threw down the hole was a mole. Only Goodwin. Why would Goodwin kill that guy if they were both 'others?' He would just let him go back to wherever they come from. Not only that, when he rescued him from the hole, their conversation would have revealed that they were 'others,' or at least conspiring together, but it didn't at all. What I don't get is why he gave Nathan all that BS about 'you have to get away, here's some food,' and then right away killed him. I mean, wouldn't he just kill him as soon as he got him up out of the hole? That is, if no one was watching. . .
The bit about the knife was interesting. A US Army knife, from 20 years ago. Hmm. And yes, Goodwin did seem surprised about the facility, which was odd if he's been there all that time.
I guess I was a bit relieved that we only had to deal with 4 new characters. I was worried they would get all crazy with the back of the plane, but the bulk of them conveniently vanished, along with the children and the 9. Now to get back to the original group. Some of those people I haven't seen in so long, I can't remember their names. They were showing faces in the 'scenes from next week' that I recognized, but couldn't remember where I'd seen them!

It sounds like the Others were waiting for the plane to crash and have specific survivors. They were after children and all the "good" ones.
Then there's the whole mystery about how maybe it wasn't so random that these particular passengers ended up on the plane (like Hurley with the numbers mojo, the unknown ties between some of the passengers, Locke's belief that he was destined to end up on the island with his miraculous recovery from paralysis, Walt's specialness, Claire's baby's specialness as ordained by the psychic, etc.), which ended up crashing on an island thousands of miles off-course from the Sydney to LA plane route.
I liked the handheld camera of the survivors clawing their way on shore all disoriented, maybe in shock. Good contrast from the steady shots depicting similar chaos and confusion from the pilot.
Buy why no monster/security system where the tail-end survivors landed? What did they do for potable water?
Could be that the tail end section wasn't fully sketched out, if at all and they add it now to pad out the arc of the season/series. Anything to avoid full exposition.

My question is the exact opposite, why would he kill him if he wasn't?? If he were one of the nine then he should have just taken him, why kill him unless he feared him revealing information. Why would Goodwin kill that guy if they were both 'others?'
I don't disagree that it could be nothing, i just saw it another way. One of the great things about this show. So many ways to analyze things.
He killed him because he's a bad guy, evil and sinister. Bad guys kill people, especially with the old neck-snap. That's how you know they're bad! If they were working together, I just don't understand why he would kill him. "Hey, buddy, out plan is working perfectly! Now, I am gonna kill you!" If he let him go, he might go back to the group and be all, "Goodwin let me out," leading to a whole confrontation etc., the last thing Goodwin would want. Or if he goes to the beach, there's still a chance they run into him again. This way, he makes it look like Nathan was the mole and was rescued by the 'others,' removing suspicion from himself.
My guess is not at all. They can use it now, not only to pad out the plot arc, but also to give them excuse to add new blood into the cast in the person of Rodriguez and the big black guy.wco81 wrote:Could be that the tail end section wasn't fully sketched out, if at all and they add it now to pad out the arc of the season/series. Just to clarify, there were 23 survivors from the Tail section. It was specifically mentioned two episodes ago.Zeppo wrote:OK, I love the show. I enjoy it a lot. Still . . .

C'Mon Zep, 37 isn't even in the number sequence.

Yes, it was a very good episode albeit a little predictable.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:Solid show last wednesday.
Another great ending.
Dad?
My theory, which isn't that tough to figure out:
The 'others' took out that film splice so that people that end up in the hatch will eventually contact people from outside of the island, thus continually populating it. Also, it gives the others confirmation of where they are.
I'm not quite sure what 'the incident' is yet, but I've thought of a few things.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Eko's back-story (for me he's the most interesting character at this point), which seems to be the theme for next episode. Also, that monster thing makes a return. Should be interesting.

Yeah, Eko makes Locke look predictable. Eko is a very mysterious dude.
The whole quoting of the 23rd Psalm by Eko in the preview for next week's show, in addition to his talk with Locke about the Old Testament, has me wondering if Eko will turn into some sort of character who claims he's a prophet or the second coming of Christ.
Seriously.
Take care,
PK
