Leebo, the words "guarantee" and "Bears victory" do not belong in the same sentence. It is like playing Russian roulette with a two-shot derringer. However, that sounds like an ideal game to bet the under.Leebo33 wrote:Brando, the real question is "can you guarantee me a Bears victory this weekend vs. SF?" I am *this* close to putting them in as my pick in an elimination pool and $250 may be on the line.
As for the TO situation, he's a giant c*ck who got what he deserved. I'm am not one of those typical outraged middle class white guys. I'm fine with athletes being arrogant and self-centered, even unfriendly. I'd prefer they weren't, but I won't crucify them for it. I only ask that they do two things:
1) Play as hard as they can.
2) Respect their teammates and put the team ahead of themselves.
TO has always done #1, and that's why his antics have never really bothered me that much. But he stepped WAY over the line on #2, and anyone defending him is simply enabling the type of behavior that undermines our enjoyment of sports.
Like Leebo said, I am all for athletes attempting to get what they can. It is a free market, after all. The offseason stuff with him, while annoying, was not terrible. Had he even said he wouldn't play, that would have been his right. But once he agreed to put the pads on, he needed to STFU about his contract. He did not get a "bad" deal, just a somewhat average contract for a player of his caliber. The money he's getting does not remotely justify his behavior.
