Hmm lets see, I have stated in all the past threads i have not been excited, I said in this one that the animations and graphics looked good and that is what I liked but I was waiting for actual game play video of a finished product. I also just anwsered his question about getting a launch Xbox.
As for the clockwork thing, you really need to look in the mirror.
Take Care
Nobody pissed in my cornflakes, at least I hope not. I just did not see why you concern yourself that a "select group" might see faults or not be happy. You could have simply left you thoughts and left off the last part. On some forums that would have been considered trolling/baiting.
Simple stuff really. Not everyone is going to love Madden 360. Some people hate anything EA puts out. That is par for the course with pretty much anything sold on the market. It should not in any way deter/distract your enjoyment of the game if you so choose to purchase it.
I could have sworn that goal line dives were in previous versions of Madden. In any event, in every one of those dives the player went completely untouched, even when they didn't go over the pile. Tell me the last time anyone saw that in a real game.
I had just come from the OS thread regarding this video before my comment, which is probably why I made it. If you see what they complain about over there yeesh! Personally I don't care what other people play, hell I don't even have time to concenr myself with what I play anymore.
But you're right I could have left that off.

Well I'm less enthused about Madden as we get nearer to launch.
First is the downright lie that this is all new from the ground up. Would that stand-up in a court of law? Maybe all the videos we've seen are from early builds.
I think graphics will be a strong selling point but that's not the only reason. Madden familarity with a graphical upgrade is the reason for buying it. Like Madden? Like better graphics that we didn't offer because we cater to the PS2 crowd? Buy Madden 360!
But in terms of the gameplay, all the videos scream same game with a few new animations. Madden is solid, I give it that but not solid enough to shell out over $400 bones for it.
Lastly in terms of graphical appeal, the reason for the lack of hype is everyone knows this is the same game with better graphics. There will be few surprises. Atleast with the first NFL 2k, you didn't know what game you were getting. We could have had a real stinker that looked bad. Or a gem of a game that looked good and played well. Plus we didn't know what to expect with NFL 2k, that was a huge draw. The risk of Madden being terrible is very slim but by taking no risks, there's very little chance it will ever out do itself.
I really hope we get a WE type football game. I not talking gameplay so much as I am about fake players and teams that caters to users custimizing the game. Worry about the AI and the features and we'll worry about the uniforms, players, stadiums etc. I don't know why more companies haven't taken a risk on the WE model of games.

Well there is the problem. I see the same things at forums like GAF, IGN, TXB, etc, etc when I browse. There are some people who truly do have a vendetta against EA and anything they release. A poster like TRI is a perfect example but he is a rarity here at DSP. Fortunately he seems to enjoy large audiences and rarely posts here. That is what makes DSP such a great place and why I prefer to only post here. We are allowed to disagree from time to time but we respect each other (for the most part) and that on an internet forum is rare.

I haven't been able to figure out the whole "built from the ground up" comment either. Looks to me like they are using pretty much the same engine, albeit with a fresh coat of paint. Then again, this is the same company that once tried selling us on "liquid AI", so I take anything their marketing dept. says with a grain of salt.
This video impressed me more than the others I've seen. I wouldn't, to paraphrase JRod, spend $400 for a 360 to buy Madden, but Madden is not driving my interest in the 360. There was still some stiffness in the animations, but they didn't look as jerky as earlier videos. The surrounding visuals look good and very immersive. I think overall, it looks good, not eye-popping, but good.
While some of these videos may be in high resolution, that's still not the same as seeing them on a big HD set. I have a feeling the wow factor will still be there.
I also would be happy having Madden 360 play like Madden 2006, because Madden 2006 plays better than any other version of Madden. It just has bland atmosphere and presentation that everyone is sick of.

I will never understand people that criticize EA for "catering" to the PS2 crowd. Why would it make any sense for them to do anything but that? The PS2 blew away the XBox in terms of market penetration. Does it make sense for them to do anything other than develop the game for the PS2 and then port it over to the XBox, even if the XBox has the ability to do greater things with the game?

No it does not, at least on my end. I should have left my reply limited to Danimal and Boom. That much I take fault for. I apprecaite their understanding of my reasoning for replying to their comments.
Just to show where I stand I think Live actually looks pretty good. I have serious doubts about the gameplay but live actually looks impressive to me in screens and video....
Madden on the other hand looks like a slightly souped up Xbox game to me. Everytime I see another video or screen it only confirms that impression. Very odd to me considering the amount of resources that are pumped into that game. Doesn't seen logical but that's certainly the way my eyes see it. So it has very little to do with EA hate and more to do with actual eye-balling.

---Lend a ***** a pencil--- Context?
1. This game has been worked on by some for at least two years
2. It is definitely an entirely new game engine
3. There is hope that a realtime physics engine will be implemented in the future (yeah, maybe for PS3 )
4. They spent several months for each stadium to render them properly (clearly a wise use of time and resources)
5. The playbooks will most likely be exactly the same as the current gen (so much for team specific defensive playbooks)
6. The AI was completely rewritten (so I'm expecting a step backwards)
7. The vision cone is ON by default for the CPU and there was no mention of being able to turn it off
