Some Forza custom designs...

Post by tjung0831 »

Some people have way too much time on their hands. The southpark one is pretty cool though.

Wow, I suck at the custom paintjobs. I really want to make a cool one after seeing some of those. That's really impressive.

Am I missing something? How in the hell are these people doing this? I went into the custom paint job thing and only could paint my whole car, the hood, or the mirrors.

And what few decals I could find sucked? How are they doing this? Do you have to unlock this stuff or buy it?

You have to break anything down that you want to do as a series of polygons.

Like with this:

Image

I knew I wanted to make a Cingular guy. So I laid an orange box down, then placed 4 black circles on the sides, making the "X" shape. Then I dropped 4 orange circles on the edges to make it bulbous at the end, then added the head.

I used the kind of 'swoosh' shape, rotated and tilted for the other swipe.

This car was pretty easy. Doing a replica Jimmie Johnson Lowe's car last night was a bear, but it came out pretty nice. I just don't have a shot of that one yet.

You can build anything since almost anything you can think of can be created with a series of shapes placed on top of one another.[/img]

Dang, Terry can you make me a Hello Kitty car?

I bet somebody could make some money off of custom design cars...

Now if I only had the talent and patience...

Microsoft should have allowed users to 'name their price' while selling cars.

impressive, Terry. And proof God did not create us equally.

Terry,
Once you have all the layers for the Cingular logo can you then merge them into one layer like Photoshop?

NO! I wish you could...it would make cutting and pasting so much easier. Instead, you have to copy and paste/resize/rotate each layer individually.

And it's not as tough as you guys think...it's just a bunch of shapes. You just have to think backwards sometimes. Break a shape down into multiple simple polygons and then just start stacking them. It's not unlike using building blocks in kindergarten.

The Lowe's car is something I like even more than the Cingular one, but only because it was tough to make something look like a "real" car.

No but its a royal pain in the arse tho , how simple would it have been to add a reverse shape and a crop image or something.

I'm surprised they allow us to modify them at all...it has to be a first in a game of this magnitude. I suppose we should be thankful for what we've got.

True, true, i "adapted and overcame". (Clint Eastwood).

And i quite like my car now  I think ive spent as much time in the paint shop as on track .
My new paint job is gonna be ruined the next time i race, hell i may never race again just paint cars.

Ok, here's what I did tonight. It's not that great but it's not entirely bad either.

Wow, Scoop, that 34-Bears car is bad-ass!

You guys either are more talented artists or more clever to figure out the decals and colors. Probably both.

For now, I have sized a few Saab logos all over my jet-black Saab 9-3. Put a checkered flag logo on the roof under the Saab logo, too.

Take care,

Is there a free/easy place to post pictures so that you can link to them on this forum; I've got 2 designs I'd liek to share, but no website to put them on.

Thanks.

How about flickr? www.flickr.com ?

I haven't used it yet, but it looks fairly easy.

The "Official" DSP Mobile!

Post by Atxj »

I spent about an hour and a half earlier working on this, which I guess could be hailed the "Official" DSP Mobile.

It turned out really good IMO, what is the verdict from the mass of professional painters?
