And they will still finish in the bottom half of the division. Eventually they need to get a pitcher or two.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:Delgado to the Mets!

Top 10 Team ERA 2005
1. St. Louis 3.49
2. Houston 3.51
3. Cleveland 3.61
4. Chicago Sox 3.61
5. LA Angels 3.68
6. Oakland 3.69
7. Minnesota 3.71
8. NY Mets 3.76
9. Washington 3.87
10. Milwaukee 3.97
Picthing wasn't the problem buddy.
At least not starting pitching.
The bullpen(specially Looper) blew a ton of games this year, Beltran had a off year, they didn't have Cameron in the strecth run, and they got no production from 1st and 2nd base.
Still, they won 83 games on arguably the best division(or most competitive) in baseball last year and where among the top teams in run differencial.
Minaya was expecting to fill the holes this off-season, and 1st base is now done.
I can only imagine he will keep it going after making another splash with the Delgado trade.

You made it sound like pitching was the problem with this comment.dbdynsty25 wrote:And they will still finish in the bottom half of the division. Eventually they need to get a pitcher or two.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:Delgado to the Mets!

Yes, pitching was the problem...and it was mostly at the backend of their bullpen (same deal with the Braves). That's why I said they needed to get a pitcher or two. That statement would cover the entire pitching staff wouldn't it? Now, had I said they need to get a starting pitcher or two, you would have a beef. But since I didn't...your arguement is pointless.

Hey, they were .500 this year. If Sheets returns to 2004 form and the young players continue to develop, MKE might finish within ten games of the NL Central lead. A halfway decent 3B would be a nice Thanksgiving present though.matthewk wrote:No one to the Brewers!!
As for Delgado, didn't the Mets try to get him last year? If they had signed him then, they could have saved the prospects and avoided last season's 1B fiasco.

i think it was for the fact that they were one of only a handfull of teams that could actually take on his salary (i remember reading that from Foxsports.com).. the pitching prospect i have read that some "officals" were getting down on for some reason... but with the rash of pitchers exiting FLA, i can see why they needed him..
Because they think they can move their franchise to another city like Portland or Vegas? Highly unlikely of course for next season, but besides cutting salary, there's talk about moving the team out of Florida. And with no stadium deal yet, look for nore house cleaning.dbdynsty25 wrote:Yes, he turned down their offer and accepted the Marlins. Nothing like getting traded to the team you rejected the year before. Still trying to figure out why the Marlins would trade him within the division...usually teams try not to do that.
