Hanging with in-laws and their extended family out of town Thursday and Friday, which is a very good thing, as they're cool and fun as hell. Beers to ensue.

Hanging with my parents and extended family here in town Saturday, which is a very good thing, as they're cool and fun as hell. Beers to ensue.

Hopefully going out tomorrow night with a buddy of mine for a drink, and hopefully going out with a couple of high school friends Friday night who are in town for the weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Take care,
PK

Yo biaztch I forgot to hit the crop function, you dig? Kool U da man!

Now back to the regulary programmed BD.

Had to kill a few minutes left at work, was on a conference call while editing and got distracted yo. Now it is time to play some CH 2K6 which I am sure will dominate my Thanksgiving holiday.

Riding in the morning if the wife lets me and moving in the afternoon. We bought a new house a couple of months ago and between painting and being in Japan we haven't been able to move in.

I'm going to run a "turkey trot" 5k on Thursday morning with some friends. In the afternoon we'll head to my in-laws for dinner.

3 or 4 inches here last night west of Syracuse. Bring it on -- I want to ski!

Take care,

I've posted a version this story on SR before, but it's been a while. So hopefully the thread police will cut me some slack.

Thanksgiving always has a special meaning for my family. When my daughter Sophie was three, she started having intestinal problems. This was scary in itself but the news got worse with every round of tests. Her liver enzyme levels were elevated and her GI suspected primary sclerosing cholangitis--a serious condition of the bile ducts. PSC gained some notariety a few years later when it contributed to the early death of Walter Payton.

Well obviously we were freaking out. Not to the point of "Honey, does she look jaundiced to you?" but pretty damned close. Mrs Z was six months pregnant with a player to be named later, so she didn't need any extra stress. Soph had more tests scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving which might reveal whether it was PSC or a less serious liver condition. I can still remember how tiny she looked on the hospital gurney and the unbelievable feeling of relief when her GI gave us the diagnosis. Her autoimmune hepatitis has been manageable with medication. Thanksgiving was an afterthought that year. Our present came one day early.

It's hard to believe it's been ten Thanksgivings since then. Soph is now a "normal" 13 year old girl, which is a serious condition in itself. Our son is now 9 and routinely kicks my a*s in death matches and the DSP football pick em. I'm thankful for everything our family has been given, but especially today.

So what are we doing for Thanksgiving? My inlaws live about six miles from us, so I'll probably run over there in the AM, take a shower and help out with side dishes. We'll eat early because Grammy's a RN and has to work. We traditionally go see a movie on Thanksgiving night, avoid malls at all costs over the weekend, probably go to the SF Auto Show and maybe a USF basketball game.

I don't remember ever reading that story SF. It really is a good one...glad everything worked out for you and your family. The player to be named later comment was hilarious too.

He really was the PTBNL. He had no name for 48 hours after birth while we negotiated over circumcision. I relinquished primary naming rights but saved his foreskin. Sure hope Neil appreciates that.

Now I'm going to be sick. I never though foreskin would be a topic of conversation on the boards...oh well. There is a first time for everything I suppose.
