College Football Discussion (Week 8) The eyes of Texas

Post by bdoughty »

The big game

#10 Texas Tech at #2 Texas

The rest

#3 Virginia Tech at Maryland (Thursday)
Georgia Tech at #6 Miami
#16 Auburn at #7 LSU
Washington State at #25 California
Oregon State at #8 UCLA
#12 Penn State at Illinois
#15 Oregon at Arizona
#20 West Virginia at South Florida
#24 Fresno State at Idaho
#1 USC at Washington
#17 Tennessee at #5 Alabama
#11 Florida State at Duke
#21 TCU at Air Force
BYU at #9 Notre Dame
Arkansas at #4 Georgia
#23 Virginia at North Carolina
Purdue at #19 Wisconsin
Michigan at Iowa
Nebraska at Missouri

Alabama loses to Tennesse ending their unbeaten streak. This thread won't get many replies because Boston College has a bye week.

I refuse to make any predictions on the Tech/Texas game. I want to Red Radiers to win so bad I prefer not to jinx them by picking them. On a side note to that. The highest Tech has ever been ranked in any poll is #5 by the AP in 1976.

Oh it will...because BC is going to OWN VT on October 27th in Blacksburg....BELIEVE IT!

Errr...maybe they'll just end up losing and their fanbase will finally SHUT THE F*CK UP.

Tech/Texas shoudl be a good game. I just don't think Tech's defense can stop Texas' offense. It should be a fun game. Is this game on national TV?

Well just like the Tech/KSU game it will be shown on ABC. Where you live depends on if you get it or not.

How could it suck? It will be a titanic showdown, just like every game in the greatest, deepest conference in the nation, right?

Meanwhile, I'm trying to find 30 watts of enthusiasm for the Syracuse-Pitt game this weekend. Basketball season is underway already in Syracuse in many people's minds, mine included.

This SU football season shares the same title as the most popular ABC show on Wednesday nights: LOST.

No suprises in the first BCS.

SEC teams are at 4-6.. and ND comes in at 16.

The distance between 1 and 2 is huge as is the distance between 2 and 3.

The only thing close in the top 5 is 3 - 4.

for those that have not seen it.

1 USC 9923
2 UT 9591
3 VT 9067
4 UGA 8933
5 Bama 8220

16 ND 3985

You know when the ACC becomes the top conference in college football? When FSU loses a conference game to someone other than Miami and the other team does not take down the goal posts and the game doesn't become an instant classic on ESPN Classic.

As for the comments that all of the Big East teams that joined the ACC are at the top - well, why the hell do you think they were asked to join the conference? Academics? Miami, Virginia Tech and Boston College joining the conference and winning football games is part of the master plan to bring unholy amounts of money to the conference. Do you think the presidents of Wake, Clemson or Duke feels bad about losing to the newcomers? Hell no, they are too busy spending the money the conference made from raiding the Big East. The ACC championship game is a sellout no matter who is playing and the TV contract is signed and sealed.

If the ACC was convinced that it was a good football conference, It would have created a North and a South Division, and not felt compelled to separate Miami and FSU into separate (and nonsensical) divisions. It would actually be kind of funny if neither made it to the ACC championship game this year.

As for BC, hey great comeback. But you were losing by 9 points at home to Wake Forest with 4 minutes left in the game. The national championship is not right around the corner.

Thanks, Parker. You'll be banned again, and your post will be deleted.

Pathetic. Simply pathetic.

From now on, I'm not even going to have Jared check the IP address. If I see a post about BC coming from someone with five posts or less, that post will be deleted and that poster will be banned.

This is getting ridiculous. My 4-year-old is more mature than this jackass.

Sudanese proxy this time. I'll be gathering up more lists of open proxy servers and adding them to the ban list....Parker will still find places to post from, but at least it will take him more time.

Also, Parker, you really need to find some help. Seriously...you really must have some sort of mental problem to put this much importance into a sports gaming board. Really, get some help man.

They might want to capture the moment because they have not faced anyone like UT yet....especially UT's defense. I am not a UT fan whatsoever, but I don't see Tt having much fun this weekend....

LOL. Notre Dame is unranked in 2 computer polls and no higher than 21st in the others.

Last week I believe South Florida was ranked #12 in one of the computer polls.

Well it is their first time to be in the top 10 since 1977 so I am sure they will enjoy it, even if it lasts for only a week. I see Tech stopping Vince Young and the Texas offense as the bigger task at hand. Tech put 40 on them 2 years ago in Austin and lost at the very end of the game to a pretty good Texas Defense. It's not like Texas has faced a passing game anywhere close to what Tech can do.

If I were Texas, I would do just what ND tried to do to USC...keep the ball and run the clock. Texas has the hosses to do this and pass when need be. I agree with most of what you say, but Texas' defense has seen offenses FAR better than anything Tech's defense has. I think this game will be close if Texas tries to play Tech's game. If Texas runs the ball as they should, then they should not have too much trouble winning.

Now see we can discuss things in a cvil manner that we do not agree on. :D

That would be the best bet for Texas, keeping the ball on the ground and the clock running. The key will be how well Saldi and LB's can handle Young when he runs out of passing situations. That defense of Texas has never faced a threat like Henderson catching the ball out of the backfield and 3-4 QUALITY receivers running routes at the same time. To me the key is can the Tech O-Line handle the Longhorn D-Line. If they can keep pressure off Hodges it could make for a very exciting game.

No clue, just saw where it was postponed. Allowing for more national exposure for Tech. People are pretty giddy around here. I just hope they play up to the ranking.

I just need someone to beat Texas so I can get rid of this avatar. ;)
