My e-mail to Dick Fain and his response

Post by pk500 »

Boys:

I e-mailed the legendary Dick Fain of Rivals fame tonight after seeing his address in the Rivals thread from earlier today. He replied only a couple of hours later!

My e-mail:

>>>>>
Dick:

Hi. My friends and I still play Microsoft's NHL Rivals
2004 online regularly, and we wondered if you are the
same Dick Fain who does commentary between periods in
the game?

If so, you did a great job! We never hit the A button
between periods to skip your audio. You're a damn cult
hero with us.

Did you hook up with Microsoft since you're both in
the Seattle area?

You did a great job.

Take care,
Paul Kelly
Marcellus, N.Y.

Dick's reply:

>>>>>
That is me....thanks for the compliments! Microsoft is no longer in
the
sports games business cause EA Sports is so huge.

Dick
<<<<<<

That Dick Fain is a f*cking cult hero. Let's go down to DICK FAIN! Now all we need is Actionslacks answering our fan mail, and we will be complete.

:)

Take care,
PK

That's hilarious even though I don't know the whole story behind it.

Boy does that blow. Rivals with a new controller cofiguration would have been the shiznit. I knew MSN sports was done the minute Microsoft gave in and let EA on live. I liked the competition between Microsoft/2KSports vs. EA. It gave me a reason not to purchase EA titles.

That is great that he answered back so quickly.

What happened last night? We only got that one NHL game in and it was a very good game and I thought we were going to the pond and then everything fell apart.

LMAO! Sorry, but that really made me laugh. And all this time I thought people were mad at EA because they wouldn't make their games online compatible. It was like, just one more reason to hate EA.

No idea. I sat there, waiting for Trane's invite to the Pond game, and it never came. I thought maybe I was in one of those parallel universes where I couldn't get in, so I backed out and returned but still couldn't join you guys.

So then I just went to race some TOCA 2 online.

Shame, because our one NHL game was epic!

of course he answered right away......what the heck else does he have to do :D I dont hink he was even ever a hockey announcer! You should ask him how he got that gig on Rivals. Maybe you can do a telephone interview with him and put it in your podcast!

Just wanted to send a message, that I haven't quit on Rivals. My wireless router went nuts and I have not been able to properly set-up my new one. So I have no way to play online.

Any recommendations for a wireless router that easy to set-up?

Yeah, I was going to jump on tonight when I saw some of you, and I said wait a minute is it Friday already? Until my kid took over the TV to play 'Garden Warfare'.
