Best Buy and bestbuy.com are selling All-Star Baseball 2003 for the Xbox for $19.99 new.

<BR>ASB 2003 received media and gamer reviews all over the spectrum -- some said the game was the best baseball title available while others hated various aspects, such as the warp pitch speeds, small outfields and cursor-based hitting with a tilting cursor.
<BR>
<BR>I rented ASB, and it´s not a bad game. At $19.99, I might give this a whirl. If it really sucks, I know I can sell it for close to $30 on buy.com to someone who has no idea about the Best Buy deal and still thinks it retails for $50 new. <IMG SRC="images/forum/icons/icon_smile.gif">

Agreed...that is one sweet deal. I don´t have an X-Box, but I´d be tempted to pick it up (just to resell it). Every now and then Best Buy has great short-term deals like that. For example, Madden 2003 was selling for $24.99 a week after it came out. Too bad that deal isn´t kickin´ anymore.

That is a great deal, but with the basketball games and NHL2K3 on the horizon, I need to save my money.

<BR>As for ASB, I didn´t care for it. For one thing, each game seemed to take "forever" and I didn´t ever feel like I was "in it." Also the batting physics are all wrong in the game. I read this a while back on a post on the OS board, and found it to be true. For example, a guy who gets around early on the ball should pull it, and those who get around late should hit it to the opposite field. Unfortunately, the opposite happens in ASB. I can´t play a game like that. Many can, but not me. I´m not going to turn this into an anti-ASB post, but just wanted to point that out.

<BR>Neither ASB or WSB were great baseball games for the Xbox. Both had semi-crippling flaws, in my opinion. ASB had the bad hitting model, as you mentioned, as WSB had the humongous strike zone.
