Xbox Title Recommendations

Post by RobVarak »

We're hosting my 8 year old nephew tomorrow night, and he's excited because he knows I have Xbox and the widescreen TV. I'm more than happy to oblige him with some gaming, but most of my stuff is obviously not to his taste and I'll be hitting Blockbuster for some rentals.

Anyone have any suggestions for some good multiplayer that the two of us can play? Popping in WE8 or ESPN football is a little complex for him, so I'm trying to find something that will work for both of us. Thanks.

FIFA Street. A crummy single-player game that is pretty damn fun, over the top and good for many laughs in multiplayer. Easy to play, too.

Take care,

Good stuff, guys. Thanks. I hadn't thought of Burnout...at least I have that one already.

Burnout is a good idea...My nephew is 6 and he loves to play NFS: hot pursuit on his cube...

He also likes the old Namco games...Galaga and Pac Man...oh yeah and Simpsons Hit and Run...

It's funny that Burnout 3 has been mentioned, I just played it for the first time yesterday. I didn't like Forza at all, so I thought I'd try an arcade racer to see how I enjoyed it. Considering I didn't stop playing until three hours later, I guess I liked it quite a bit. I'm guessing it would be great fun to play with a kid, the simple controls and wild wrecks should be a lot of fun for you both.

BD's suggestion, Lego Star Wars, also seems like it would be fun. I have that at the top of my rental list right now, it looks like a very well designed game. From what I have read, it is supposed to be simple and easy enough for kids to enjoy, without strictly being a kiddie game.

Phantom Dust. Best xbox game I have played in the last 3 months. It is so awesome, it is like a real time card battle collecting game and Dragon Ball Z type antics (where you fly around and throw fireballs at people). There are an almost infinite way to build your deck/arsenal of skills, thus every battle can be exciting and the destructible environment is an icing on the cake. What an insane game, if you have Live, it is 10x better as well. But I personally love the single player campaign to build your deck and collect most of the skills.

And it is only $20. Best $20 game ever and I don't say that lightly.

MokeyBall was a big hit with the kids at my last party.

By the way, Burnout 3 is only $20 now at Target for both Xbox and PS2.

Don't underestimate the young'uns...unlike us they were weaned on this stuff. My three year old nephew knows more about the family pc than his parents, and handles the mouse like a freaking pro. I bet an eight-year old could handle any game you throw at him!

I think PK would like you to start training kids on Forza to get more online players.

If you have a gamecube I heard good things about Disney soccer and Sega Soccer slam. I can't remember which one is better.
