ESPN College Hoops 2K5 Online

Post by GridIronGhost »

Got this game because many gamers on my friends list play this game. I played 2 games against random opponents and found the game to play very slow. Kinda like the players were in a sand court. It was not choppy or lag, but just slow. I played ESPN NBA 2K5 and it was fine, it felt like the players were on speed after playing college hoops game. Is this normal for the game to be this slow? Was it the connection? Both players showed good connections...TIA

I am one of the few here who absolutely despises the game...especially online. The connection problems are abundant (for me anyway) and the responsiveness is non-existent (like you mentioned). Put those two items together and you've got a game that is virtually unplayable online.

Thanks guys, just wanted to give the game another try since I stopped playing the game 2 weeks after it was released, due to franchise play and that scripted AI feeling I was getting playing the CPU. I thought that online would be better, but not with the game playing so slow, I thought it could have been due to a connection problem...guess not, bummer.

GIG - I've played about 12 games of Hoops online so take this for what it's worth, but they've all been fine save one. In that game the whole thing was played like it was in slow motion. I have no idea what caused it, but it wasn't normal and sounds like what you're describing. I don't think what your experiencing is normal. (But without knowing the cause I haven't a clue how you can fix it..)

the only times I have slowdown is during free throws in some games. I like playing online, so to each their own!

It has varied for me. Some games are fine, others are total lagfests, and others have that half-step-to-slow feeling.

I've played 20 or so games online and this has been my experience. I'd say:

10 have been fine
5 have been a step too slow, but very playable
3 very laggy
2 unplayable

Got to play 3 more games one was good the other two played slow, not to mention the coke sucker I was playing played run and gun the whole game and used turbo steals. This game seems to be a hit and miss online, I really wanted to like this game...but it's just as f***ed as the offline game. Oh...the game that played good, I was downloading at the same time...go figure.

Well, I finally saw the "call plays" bug last night online. Oh well.

Please explain "turbo steals." I played someone once that had about 2 or 3 times the normal amount of steals. Is there some cheat? I just thought he was good. I was afraid to even pass the basketball!

It's not a bug, but how one plays the game. Hold down the turbo and mash the steal button while running around the ball handler. It's not fun playing someone like this they are going to get a steal most of the time and it's worse when you have to deal with lag\slow play.

I played 3 more quick games, I hosted 2 games that played good and accepted a challange that played good too. I don't know, this game is a hit and miss. I quit games that have lag or slow play as my record indicates. I just can't play in slomo.
