Anyone still playing ESPN NHL 2k5 franchise/season ?

Post by GROGtheNailer »

Just trying to guage some interest, will post my final sliders for all-star which have been going strong (no changes) for last 10 days... if anyone is interested. Best hockey i've played for any hockey game bar none. Not sure if anyone still playing it in franchise/season mode so let me know if you care to check them out.

Shots, PP's, scores, win/losses, hits, save %,player stats and gameplay seem to be damn good.

Yes, still using your second sliders revisions (the first All-Star ones). Please post your latest settings!

I'm still playing my franchise. Unfortunately, my virtual Wild's offense has taken to be all-too realistic.

I've enjoyed using your sliders as my starting point, so definitely let us in on the next version!

I'm about halfway through a season playing as the Maple Leafs on Pro. PK posted some Pro sliders a while back, I've been using them and they work great. Too bad I suck. My record's something like 8-20-5-1, last place in the conference on Pro, so I'm not really ready for All-Star sliders yet. But I do have a question for you (or anybody): Is there any benefit to giving your starting goalie some games off?

Grog:

I'm very interested. Your All-Star sliders are superb. I'm still using 8 as the offensive value for my team, and I've hiked the CPU offense slider to 4 from 0.

I'm about ready to start an Oilers' season, and I'm in the midst of a Playoffs right now playing as Toronto.

ESPN NHL 2K5 is the best hockey game I've played, especially with the All-Star sliders you posted a few weeks ago.

Take care,
PK

I only play online in our league...which doesn't say very much for the diehards that lose to me...(cough, Grog and Mo). LOL.

Skins:

Hopefully Lex can provide them. Sorry. I sort of outgrew them and started using Grog's All-Star sliders, which are superb.

Take care,
PK

I did some digging, here's the thread:

http://digitalsportspage.com/modules.ph ... sc&start=0

The thread starts off with PK giving his Pro sliders, but it also includes a version of Grog's All-Star sliders, but I doubt it's the latest.

Lex:

Thanks. You're a more enterprising dude than I.

Those are the Grog All-Star sliders that I've been using, with the only change a hike in CPU offense to 4 from 0.

Maybe Grog has new ones, but his All-Star sliders in that thread really kick ass for me.

Take care,
PK

No problem PK, thanks for your Pro sliders. Maybe some day I'll be able to take off the training wheels and try the All-Star sliders.

Thanks. I will give them a shot. I think that this is the sports game of the year. If there was a baseball and football game this good, I would be very happy!

Question for you, Grog. Does the CPU have a speed advantage due to the all-star difficulty? If so, does the slight advantage you give the human Offense help offset this?

The cpu has a few advantages i'd say. One is the ability to pick up loose pucks better than you and a very slight speed advantage. Some slight advantages are there for sure. I've tried to tweak sliders to equal out everything so neither I nor cpu has advantage....all things being equal.

Grog, I *love* these sliders. Moving up to All-Star really makes a difference as I was winning too much with the Penguins.

I am ready to start my franchise now. What should I choose for franchise difficulty and injuries? I don't mind having injuries, but in the past the game seemed to have too many severe injuries. Is that fixed this year?

Best rosters for the XBOX? I just got Action Replay (and started a useless thread forgetting about this one :)) and was wondering which ones are the best.

Holy smokes Grog, I just started a franchise with your settings and some new rosters I got at ESPNHockey.net. The are properpads rosters and they have all the goalie tweaks and are updated. Super game of hockey! I've been playing ESPN 2K series since it came out and these settings/rosters gave me the best game ever. Montreal wooped me 5-2. I wasn't ready for the brand of hockey I was "fed". Woot!

Glad to hear that they are working out for you guys, they play a pretty good game eh :)

This is what I have done to stop a franchise stoppage. I keep injuries at default, after every game I go into edit lines and let the cpu adjust for me ( can always re-edit again if you like). I also shut off injuries in franchise once I have 2 serious injuries and then turn back on when one is healed, or both...up to you.
