Gretzky 2005 - Goalie Problem

It seems there is a problem with my goalie in my Franchise. He is sometimes out of the net and they score easy goals? I play as Devils and tried every difficulty level.

Has anyone seen this problem. I like the game except for this major problem.

Out of the net as in on the bench or just way out of position?

Are you holding down the X button for more than 1 sec and inadvertantly controlling the goalie?

Have not seen this problem, but will keep an eye out.

Way out of position. He ends up behind the net sometimes. Can the goalie be set to "Auto"?
