SW:Battlefront Poll

Post by Spooky »

I am quite curious as to who is usiong what view in the game. I have been using the default 3rd person view. Tried the 1st person once but it felt stiff.

What is everyone else using and why?

I mapped the 'switch 1st/3rd' button to the controller so I can go between them -and I do somewhat- but I find myself much more on 3rd than 1st, largely because it feels a bit more responsive to me and seeing your body helps with the jumping jet pack guys.

I normally prefer 1st person for shooters but in SW:B I prefer 3rd because of the chaos. It really helps to be able to see blaster fire coming in from the back and the sides.

I set the switch to the click of the left stick, but mostly use 1st person. It's nice to be able to switch out to get my bearings once in a while, but I'm used to 1st person now.

For the entire first week, I was exclusively third person. Making the switch at first was disorienting, but once I got past the adjustment period, I am really loving 1st person. Often I will switch when in a vehicle, but not always. Although I pretty much always do when a co-pilot or gunner. Sometimes I switch by accident trying to dodge and throw a grenade at the same time, and I find it rather disorienting now to be in 3rd person! Go figure!

Somehow becoming comfortable in 1st person has coincided with the blossoming of this game for me, but I think that's just coincidence. It certainly has helped me appreciate the visuals more, since I'm looking at the sky and the granduer of the tall archicture (or the massive trees in Endor) rather than the ground. I suggest everyone try it!

I'm hearing claims of lag in this game and charges that it was rushed out to coincide with the DVD release of Star Wars.

I only use third person view, can't play shooters with the first person view and if Battlefront didn't have the choice of third person view then I wouldn't have picked it up.

Here's another question: what's y'alls' preferred type?

For whatever reason, i have slid into being a Pilot most of the time. I love feeling useful by building the turrets, repairing the ammo and health bots, and the R5's for vehicle repair, repairing vehicles themselves, and of course self-healing a vehicle I am piloting.

Surely some of you like the jump-troops? The Droidekas? The Marksmen? The Vangaurd? I'm curious. I think as we play more, folks will slip into different habits, and that's a neat element to the game. As we get better, we can start to find our niches (too bad Mix can't just be a Spy, huh?).

I've always been best in a vehicle of some sort....in BF1942, and when I hit a vehicle in my limited games of SW:BF, I always did the best. On foot I might get 10 kills and 10 deaths, but in a vehicle for some reason I'd end up racking up like 20 and 3. I dunno.

Either way, I sent it back to Gamefly but if it shows up on sale somewhere I might actually buy it.

I voted for 1st-person view but I do use both on occasion. I mapped the buttons so I could easily switch between the 2 on the fly. I usually only switch to third-person view in vehicles. I always use 1st-person while on foot.

Wow, I never knew/thought of mapping the buttons to switch views on the fly. I will definitely be taking advantage of that!

So far, I use only 3rd person view.

Also, I tend to use a mixture of types of layers. I rarely get into vehilces however.

I've found (as has mix, who told me about it) that placing the viewpoint change on the left analog button works very well. That way, you're not taking either thumb off of the sticks in the middle of a firefight. I'm sure you'll like it...

Yep, same here. Mapped it to the left stick click. Mostly use 1st person when I'm in hallways or tight spaces where the 3rd person camera gets hung up. Out in the open areas I go to 3rd and in most vehicals as well.
