Zep:
That seven-lap joust between you and I before the pit stop last night at Michigan had to be one of the most enjoyable online racing experiences I've ever had.
I don't think we were more than 2 feet apart the whole time, wheel to wheel and nose to gearbox. I laughed my balls off when you said, "Hey, GET AWAY FROM ME!" jokingly after I clung about 2 inches from your gearbox for an entire lap.
It's that kind of stuff that will keep me heading back to ICS 2005 online for a long time, bugs or not. And it seemed like our connection and game experience was pretty stable last night.
Good racing with Jared for the first time, too! Glad you're digging ICS 2005.
Let's do it again soon!
Take care,
PK

Yeah I was cracking up when you were yelling "you bastard!" when I took away that inside line on you there! (Just call me Choppy!) That was fun stuff. I really didn't mean to screw up the pit stop like that, I was goin too fast, locked it up trying to slow down, and barely avoided the black flag in the pit lane. Still, I'm amazed at the gap that appeared on the exit. That was a bummer. A yellow on that race would've been great.pk500 wrote:Zep:

My setup for that track is a bit tweaked out. I raced with some guys who were running crazy-fast laps, and the host insisted on sharing his setup. Well, it's all about an imbalanced ride-height (front end high w/ softer springs, rear end low w/ really stiff springs; from there some wing adjustments and gear box adjustments. Oh, and toe-in to zero on both sides, which I didn't do originally and had major trouble getting the thing to turn until I did). It seems to crank that top speed, and that's how I was able to fly by you on the straights early in the race. But with the drafting, you were able to stick with me and the back-and-forth was awesome. And of course when jockeying around, I would mess up a turn-in or two, which didn't help me pull away. But once that gap showed up from the pit stop, I was free and clear.
That was really fun stuff. I wish we had a bigger room, but still it was fun!

No worries on the pit entry, man. You really didn't screw me up that badly. But your pit crew was way faster than mine, which gave you a comfortable margin I never could erase.
Props to you for smooth driving over the second half of the race to extend your margin.
Take care,
PK

I thought there was no variance on the time it takes in the pits online, regardless of damage, fuel intake, # of tires taken, wing adjustments, etc. Do they really vary based on these factors? I thought I had read in Codies forums that they just made it all the same, which really bummed me out because it basically negates any pit strategy whatsoever. That and the pits closed/yellow bug are the reasons I had not been playing ICS in awhile.pk500 wrote:But your pit crew was way faster than mine, which gave you a comfortable margin I never could erase.
PS - That sounds like an awesome race.

I think that's bullsh*t from Codemasters, honestly.
Zep and I entered the pits together, with no damage. I added just enough fuel to get to the finish on full-rich fuel settings -- not a full tank -- and I bet Zep did the same. I made a small front-wing adjustment, but that doesn't add that much time.
Anyways, Zep exited the pits a good second or two before I did, which gave him a nice margin that he extended on track with smart, smooth driving.
Our joust was awesome. Simply awesome, especially considering I would have been a DWI in real life.
Take care,
PK

ICS 2005 seems to be more stable and smoother online despite the indifference shown to the game by the Codies. Maybe the servers have been ironed, or maybe fewer people are playing the game now that football games are on the market.
Either way, it seems better.
But the lack of communication from Codemasters is p*ssing me off to no end.
