It's Tuesday, does that mean GR:IT?

Post by Zeppo »

Anyone else up for some GR:IT tonight? I can't host more than 2 for co-op, so I am at the mercy of a good host.

You know I'm diggin' the co-op action, but if there is enough of a group, some siege mode could be fun, too.

If not, who wants to join me for some FSW co-op?

Zeppo:

Yes to both! I miss XBL with the DSP boys, as I'm effectively locking myself out of the TOCA racing due to my busy travel schedule in May and June.

I'm more than willing to play host to GRIT or FSW.

Take care,
PK

I have some packing to do, but I'll certainly play some GRIT or FSW for a bit tonight.

I sold some stuff on eBay... and was thinking about getting this. Should I? I'm having fun with FSW and TOCA2, but wouldn't mind trying this out now that it is cheaper.

Is it going to have XBL legs for a bit? If I hop online tonight can I get some basic training?

James:

We've been playing GR or GRIT for more than a year now on XBL. I think it has greater legs than any other online game among the DSP crew.

Join us tonight! It's a pretty accessible game for newbies, especially in co-op or team play.

Take care,
PK

Alright, I am SO looking forward to this tonight!!!! As long as nothing major prevents me from signing in, I am there!
What time again???

Also,

Zepp or PK,

I would LOVE to get in some FSW afterwards!!! I need to get up to speed on my missions and would really enjoy doing it Co-Op style. I think I am still on the first part of level 2 so it would be cool to play with you guys to advance a little (I picked you guys since I know you are further than me in the missions and could run through the earlier ones with me)

Either one of you guys up for it!?!?

9:30 p.m. (EDT) for an hour or so of GR:IT, followed by pairing off for FSW?

That cool?

Thanks,
PK

Can I put in a tentative "yes." Busy packing up the house, but I'd like to put in some XBL time before the move next week. But if I'm not around at game time, some more diligent soul is welcome to the spot.

What time is a good question. Usually we get the GR:IT action started at 10:30EDT, but i am usually ready to game at 9 or 9:30.

I guess you shouuld host PK. I don't know how many we have. Co-op can only hold 6, but is best for an odd number of folks. PK can only hold 8 in team play, but we all know 3 on 4 (if there are 7 of us) is not too much fun.

(BTW in co-op, Mix and I usually play with AI backup on unless we have a full group, in which case we go with 5 spawns total for the team. This formula works great for the co-op missions.)

I am up for any and all FSW co-op, as long as it is in the tougher, Sgt. Maj. difficulty level. I found my first co-op session with Mix too easy on the Sgt. difficulty, and when we switched to Sgt. Maj. for the next session, it was much more engrossing.

Of course, I am now stuck in the solo campaign at the end of mission 5 in Sgt. Maj. difficulty. Well, that's why I love co-op; bouncing ideas and thinking out solutions together is such a huge help.

Anyway, my personal prefernce would be to play through the game in co-op first, and then go through it solo, rather than the other way around.

I believe I'm into Mission 3 on Master Sergeant level in FSW, so we might be a good match. FSW just comes alive on Master Sergeant level.

Guys,

Can you switch the difficulty in FSW in the middle of a mission (or at least between missions) or do I have to start a whole new game?

Sppoky:

As far as I can tell, the difficulty level is tied to the profile. The only way I could figure out how to switch to the Sgt. Maj. difficulty was to create a 2nd profile.

This is something I don't like much in the multiplayer. If I were to join an Optimatch, I would not know what difficulty level it is. Strange. Also, besides not being able to switch difficulty levels in the midst, once you start a co-op game, you are stuck going from mission to mission; yu choose the start point when you create the game, but then you are stuck. So, if for example I want to run through the first mission to get the save-points, and then jump to mission 4 or something, i would have to quit out and start a new session. Again, it's a bit odd.

I don't much care at this point what level I play online. I am not yet bored enough of any stage of the game to be picky. I just really enjoyed the co-op time I spent with Mix a LOT, so it doesn't matter to me what level we start at.

Most likely, I would prefer to start at the beginning with whoever it is, and try to keep track myself of where in the campaign I am with whoever. So, if i were to play with Mix, we would start at the sit-rep before the damn parking lot outside the hotel. With anyone else, I would love to just start at the beginning and work through that way.

I guess what I am saying is, I just want to play together

If I host, i will be Alpha team, if I am the guest, I will be Bravo. I have no preference, I like them both!

Arghhh!!!! Damn that was frustrating. No matter what cover I chose one of the two groups of enemies had a shot at me. :( I assume you've had a chance to figure it out.

I would like in on this fun too! I am going to pick up the game on the way home from work. Maybe we can have 2 games going if we have too many? How many possible players for GRIT do we now have?

Jack:

You're the first alternate for team play, as my server can handle eight. If RobVarak can't make it, you're in.

Looking forward to seeing you boys at 9:30 p.m. (EDT). I'll be the host and toastmaster. :)

Take care,

Not trying to stomp on PK's toes...

Should I host? Maybe I can handle more than 8?

Whooooaaaahh, 9:30 EDT ??? What happened to 10:30 or 11:00 EDT ??? Ouch, 9:30 is too early for me. Guess I am out for tonight... (I'll send an invite to you PK if I make it on earlier)

Well, I guess I will have to coordinate the FSW session for afterwards right now. Zepp/PK/James/Jack/Mix, any of you guys up for the Co-Op after GR?

Spooky:

I changed it to 9:30 p.m. because there was such an interest to play FSW afterward. And as anyone who has played FSW online knows, there's no such thing as a 30-minute session of FSW on XBL.

Sorry, dude.

James, if Spooky isn't shooting, I can handle all eight of us.

Thanks,
PK
