MVP - A big problem I have that nobody seems to talk about..

Post by JackB1 »

Is the fact that I almost NEVER strike out. I can make contact with the
ball with almost every batter. I never have the fear that O will strike out, like I do with MLB. Doesn't this bother anyone else? Is there any possible solution? Has anyone tried raising the pitch speeds combined with lowering the contact slider? I would love the AI to fan me more that 5 times a game.

One tends to strike out a lot if you suck, like me!

I strike out a lot. My problem is that I check-swing all the time without wanting to. Reason is I push the X real quick and the stupid thing check swings.

I just can't get the timing of this game down (could use a lot more practice and play time too). It seems you have to swing early rather than stay back on the ball and react to the location.

I've given up trying to move the stick to meet the location of the ball. I may have to look at MLB since it doesn't check swing.

I strike out a lot, because my timing is pathetic. So you've probably just got mad skillz, that's all.

Wco, I just struck out 14 times against Denny Freakin' Naegle in MLB...it happens a lot. Chipper went 0-4 w/ 4 k's in the 2-4 loss.

yes, it happens in MLB....not MVP. I rarely strike out more than 5 times per game, even with the speed bumped up and the contact turned down.

I never struck out more than 4 times in a game. This is with the speed at default. I didn't crank it up, because the speeds were still too fast, even at the default.

Someone else mention how the timing in MVP works. No matter the pitch speed, this game almost forces you to jump on pitches before you can really gauge what they are. You can't sit and wait. Still, if I want don't want to strike out, I can almost always make contact, it's just that the hits are usually weak and to the opposite field.

the hitting system in MVP really is flawed. You almost feel like too much is riding on the batter's stats, then whether or not you made solid contact. And since you can make contact with any ball in the strike zone if your timing is right....how is that "real hitting". To me, when I guess the correct pitch and location and time my swing right in MLB, I feel like I derserve what I get and usually it works out that way. Much more seems left to chance in MVP.

yeas Jack, MLB is incredible when it comes to batting....I love it...even though I still....after 65 games....average around 10 K's.

when I get runners on....man o man....I can have my 3-4-5 hitters up with runners on 2nd and 3rd....and I strike out 3 times in a row...not because of some super AI...but because I get way over-anxious and I neglect to sit back and wait for my pitch....similar to my real life game as well.

Kudos to 989...because they have delivered an excellent baseball game.

All-Star

you really have to place the left stick in the correct zone to do well.

again, this is the best batting interface I have ever played with.

If they could only shrink the strike zones a tad.
