MVP tune file...

Post by GROGtheNailer »

Apparently they have found a tune file or something similar in MVP and are currently trying to figure out what does what...here's a thread:

I tried the "steal fix" and it works great (a little TOO good, at times).

Anyways, I'm looking forward to seeing what these guys come up with in the future.

This is great news and the results certainly look promising. Good to see that they are also close to a solution on the walks issue.

Now if they can fix the progression, 10-man batter rosters, wind issues, and most of all the VERY REAL lefty issues, we have a worthy successor to High Heat.

Still, it's pretty pathetic that the modding community has to muck around in the code, guessing all the while, just to fix things that EA should have taken care of before this ever saw the light of day. Even worse, at the same time EA is silent or denies that there is a problem.

And now with the PS2 and Xbox versions (thanks Leebo), I'm really, really ticked that there is no way to fix these unless they do a 180 and institute a disc exchange program or if I mod my Xbox.

Is that any different to having to manipulate 800 sliders to get a decent game (ESPN football/hockey) ? I've not played it myself, but I also understand that even the legendary HH 2004 needs some significant work to make it the Holy Grail baseball experience that it seems to be, and it certainly isn't that way out of the box.
"The players come from all over the world, the money from deep underneath the Persian Gulf, but, as another, older City poster campaign put it, this is their city. They may now exist in the global spotlight, but they intend to keep it that way."

Dave, your point is well taken. However I do think it is different in this case since these are things that are just plain broken. Plus, I'd gladly tweak 8,000 sliders if I could fix these things on my console versions.

That's great news for the PC owners, but those of us with the PS2 or Xbox versions are still f**ked.

ESPN really had 5-6 sliders that need adjustment to effect gameplay, the issues are with the game itself, things the sliders will not fix. People have fixed things with major roster adjustments but that game ended up being a disappointment and the same with MVP so far.

HH comes with a tune file specifically for that reason, tuning. There was no lefty issue or steal and walk issue. Things are looking good for MVP if they can actually do a lot of things with that file, I hope they can.

Bill....I tried that SMTunepack and it helped a lot. I get lots of 3-2 counts now and get at least 2-3 walks per game. The CPU also attempts 1-3 steaks per game on me. Things are looking up!

that's funny.....actually they do attempt a few STEALS per game.

I also heard that the PC patched fixes some issues including MORE WALKS!!!

Yup, the patches out there do essentially fix the steals problem and the player progression issues, and greatly improve the "no walks" problem. Now all that's left is the 15-pitcher rosters and the lefty bug, both of which are being worked on by various modders.

Guys,

What exact patches is everyone refering to? I found one link to the 'MVPMods' site but cannot find any walks or steal patches there.

You guys aren't refering to the official EA patch are you !?!?!

If not, could some one please point me in the direction of the steals and walks patches?

Thanks in advance!

Spooky,

Some of the guys over at the highheat site are saying that the patch from EA is making a difference. Some of them are using EA's patch and then just using snepps with the steal fix.

Here is the webpage for the snepps steal fix

thats what I'm doing and it's working out pretty good so far.

CPU tries 1-3 steals per game and I now can walk 2-4 times per game.
Lots of 2-2 and 3-2 counts now also :)

-now if only the CPU could strike me out once in a while :)

Spooky...you need to get the official patch from EA and also get the "steals" mod they refer to in the above replies. Much improved!

I don't have the link here, but I've been using a combo patch that fixes steals and also addresses the walks. Maybe someone has a link for that. Also there is an excellent camera mod available, but best I can tell nobody has combined all three.

My frames have not been affected by the patch at all.

I have seen less spectacular catches by the cpu also after the patch. Coincidence or not, i do not know, but hey I noticed it.

Here is a link to snepps datafile webpage : http://sio.midco.net/mvpbaseball/

Chuck, the guy that did the espn style camera angles also has a new pitcher control fix that he is working on and is going to put all three (steal fix, espn camera angles, and pithcer control mod) in the same datafile.txt file. Get updates over at mvpmods.com
