MVP rated at 9.1 8O ...........give me a friggin' break. I guess that should come as no surprise from an ass-slap operation like GameSpot.

I bet they didn't mention the awful AI like pitchers batting for themselves in obvious pinch hitting situations, the cpu almost always going to second when you try and bunt a runner over, and the first baseman running every ball to the bag regardless of how far away he is.

MVP is a fun game, but I've never seen a game get such a huge free pass with so many glaring AI flaws.

Bad I think you answered your own question when you said "MVP is a fun game". When a gaming mag or site reviews a sports game they are reviewing it for the whole gaming population not just the sports fanatics. Their job is to write reviews that will appeal to the average gamer who likes baseball but isn't a hardcore baseball gamer. That's why sports videogame websites are around. Their specialty is sports games and they attract readers who are sports game fans. MVP is a fun game and is definitely a good game for the average baseball gamer to pick up who really doesn't care as much about little details like drawing walks, cpu stealing, or pitchers batting for themselves in pinch-hit situations. The last place I look for advice on sports games are print mags or websites like IGN or Gamespot.
