Looking for a good quality media player

Post by fletcher21 »

I've been using my old android phone with spotify premium for music for a while now. I have an 128 GB card filled with a lot of music to use offline. It's all good, but I want something better.

I'm a complete noob when it comes to this. I don't own a PC, so anything I get will have to work with spotify. Can anyone explain to me how this works? Is there anything out there that will fit my needs for $2-$400?

Thanks

I love Fiio players and I love my X5iii...they sound great and run Android so you can run all of the music apps...

Thanks man. I was considering a v30 JUST for the hifi dac. There are a few for $510 new on swappa.

I'll check out what you suggested. $500 for a v30 is damn tempting, though. If it had apple watch support I'd have already ordered it.

$350 for that player you linked is nice! So I can just download spotify or tidal onto it and add my 128gb memory card?

The V30 is good...damn good, but not in the same league as the X5iii...dedicated media players with higher quality components are always going to win if you just want to listen to music.

I'm going to give it a shot. Do you have anything else like a portable amp for even more power? I also need to upgrade from my m50x. Considering monolith m1060.

You don't need a portable amp if you go w/ the Fiio X5. That said, if you want to just use your current phone there are a lot of great amps, I prefer the Oppo H2SE for connecting to either apple or android phones/tablets. It has both connections so you can use it with virtually any device. That might be a more cost effective way to go at around 300 bucks.

I ordered the fiio yesterday and today I also ordered a brand new 64gb v20 for $229 on ebay. Going to see which works best and return one. No doubt the v30 is a step up in every way as a phone, but audio sounds very similar. Removable battery ftw.

Now I need some real headphones lol.
