Watchdogs 2
Anyone played this game? I really enjoyed the first one. From what I've read and a few videos I've seen, it looks like it really caters to teenagers now. Looks like they're trying way too hard to be edgy. Something about it just puts me off. I'd love to be wrong and hear it's a solid title, but it just appears to me to be a game for 15-21 year old kids.
Re: Watchdogs 2
Something I might pick up way down the road. Too many other titles to play at the moment.

Exactly. This is a sub-$20 Gamefly used purchase for me. My son LOVED the first one, played it through in about a week. I tried it after him, and something didn't click with me.AcemanPR wrote:Something I might pick up way down the road. Too many other titles to play at the moment.
He may buy it sooner than I want it. If so, maybe I'll try it in the spring. Far too many good games to play these days. An overflowing cornucopia -- a nice problem to enjoy.

Re: Watchdogs 2
Got it, played about an hour last night.
If you liked the first one, the second one is already better. More options to hack just about everything, better cover system, more fluid movement. The driving is much better.
The story of the first one was laughable, as well. Aiden Pierce was a caricature of a human being, gruff and brooding and insanely unlikeable.
The entire vibe of the new one is attempting to cater to that young edgy crowd, and like you said, it misses the mark. But there's an entire group of people (young nerds-who-don't-know-they're-nerds wannabe hipsters, probably) that might really like it. I have no idea, I'm too old and don't care that much.
As far as gameplay goes, it's definitely a step up from the first. Compare a "typical" interaction between the two. Let's say you need to get into a door to hack a terminal and there are 3 guards there.
WD1: You could hack one of the guards' communications so he can't call for backups. You shoot all 3 guards, or blow up one of them with their own grenade or wait for them to go near a transformer and hack that and blow it up. Hack the door, then go in and hack the terminal.
WD2: Hack a car, send it barreling forward into a gate. The guards go to investigate. You sneak past, and then hack one of the guards' phones so that they get a call and try to figure out what's going on. All 3 cluster around wondering what's up, ignoring you. You hack the door, go inside, and then hack it again to lock it and prevent access. Hack the terminal, then go back out, hack a phone again, and sneak away.
Or you could shoot them all, of course.
But every hack in WD2 seems to have like 4 "options". You could lock a door or open the door. You could blow up that transformer like in WD1, OR you could set it to fritz and just make noise to attract them. Or you could turn it into a proximity mine.
Or, my personal favorite--make it a proximity mine, and THEN make it fritz to call them over to it before it explodes.
Bottom line, the options are a lot more varied, and the game is a lot better. And I was a fan of WD1, despite the idiotic revenge story.
Granted, I've only played an hour so it could get roped into the same "Ubisoft" game mode with icons everywhere and everything sort of getting repetitive and watered down. But so far, it's impressive.

I got it and Im having a great time with it. It has a GTA vibe to it. Once you get an idea of how to do everything its rather entertaining. Searching the city (which is beautiful on the PS4 Pro) is fun. So far so good.

Yeah, actually I am quite happy with the story so far. It takes a bit to learn the controls but once you got the hang of them, I feel like Bond, James Bond, sometimes. Characters are pretty real life like and I don't even have a 4K tv yet. The hour went out pretty damn fast.Diablo25 wrote:I got it and Im having a great time with it. It has a GTA vibe to it. Definitely not a teeny game.

Picked it up. Not bad. I LOVE the ability to hack someone and send the police or gang members after them. Some of the funniest gameplay moments I have EVER had!

This is a game I can happily say is worth full price. I wish mafia iii was even half this in depth and exciting.
Re: Watchdogs 2
The game is incredible fun. Best time I've had single player in a LOOOOONG time. Plenty of stuff to do, solid story and characters. Fantastic game.

Re: Watchdogs 2
I just got to the first timed hacking puzzle last night. I failed it half a dozen times before I got it. I sure do hate timed puzzles ugh

This is maybe my favorite console game next to NHL and the only game I play except for NHL. I hit this lady with my motorcycle because I suck at driving, anyway a bystander calls an ambulance and they get out and say, nothing we can do for her she is DOA. Little things like that are all throughout this game and it's damn hard for me to boot! It's like GTA alive, I'm really digging it!Diablo25 wrote:Oh, dig you will.MizzouRah wrote:My copy arrives tomorrow.. will dig into it with the upcoming 4 day weekend I have.
