Watch Dogs
Seems like this is the game to get while you're waiting for GTA to make its debut on PS4/XB1.
Been watching people play it on Playstation Live.

Re: Watch Dogs
I can see myself totally immersed in this game. Wow, that couple of hours just flew by. Can't wait to get more points for the type of hacks that you can get away with, especially when running away from cops. Very much enjoyed my early stages of the game.
Re: Watch Dogs
Scrolling thru the cameras and going stealthy to scout enemies and cops is a must. Watch Dogs is a huge game in terms of setting and variety, and why I am saying I can spend hours with this game is because it doesn't seem to get old thanks to its core hacking and hopping action mechanic.

I've been so busy with coaching lately I didn't preorder the game. I'll wait a little while longer to make a decision.

I read that the game looks ordinary during daytime play but very good at night...especially when it rains. True?

Honestly, I expected more of a wow factor visually. Still it's a damn pretty game, yes especially at night. playing on a PS4.Diablo25 wrote:I read that the game looks ordinary during daytime play but very good at night...especially when it rains. True?
Re: Watch Dogs
Where did that 3 hours go?
Some wonky controls, but pretty damn cool so far. To me it's much more Urban Far Cry than GTA, particularly the set piece missions and the way the areas open up.

Re: Watch Dogs
I don't see how anyone wouldn't be wowed by the visuals...it looks fantastic on the PS4. The lighting specifically is so damn good.
As for the game itself...it's a little "busy" in terms of all of the on screen stuff, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty accessible. I wish I was awake enough last night to play longer, but after an hour I literally fell asleep in my recliner while playing. So maybe that's not a good thing. LOL.

f*** all those racing ones where you need to be at specific point by a specific time. Those are lame.

Re: Watch Dogs
Really digging it so far! Played for about 5-6 hours and still haven't unlocked the online hacking stuff yet. Think my next mission will unlock it, but I've been having a blast just doing all the side missions and working on my skill tree, getting the controls down, etc. I've enjoyed all the different side missions, even the timed ones Sudz doesn't care for.
I set the difficulty to realistic right from the beginning based on some suggestions over at OS, and am not seeing any cheesy AI things at that level. Once you figure out what all you can do, to escape the cops and take down bad guys, etc....it's just great. And I've been reading that the online hacking is a blast as well.
Unlocking new Ctos towers reminds me a lot of assassins creed when you open new sections of the map, except with watchdogs the whole map is already open, the Ctos towers allow the ability to hack in those sectors of the city. Very pleased with the visual on XB1 as well. Haven't noticed any dips in frame rate either.

Re: Watch Dogs
Gone are the days I buy every seemingly hot title. I watched enough of WD on Twitch last night that I know I'll shelve the game after a week. It's a rental at best unfortunately.
Re: Watch Dogs
I kind of feel the same way - but I went ahead and bought it. What I played last night I really enjoyed but I know my gaming style and I don't think this one will be something I'll play much after a couple weeks of limited play. Especially with Mario Kart 8 coming out Friday. Not saying that it's not a very good game, just the reality for me.sportdan30 wrote:Gone are the days I buy every seemingly hot title. I was ultimately suckered into purchasing because of the Chicago setting - which is REALY cool, however I think I expected more from the overall map. The downtown "Loop" area is spot on but I get really thrown off by the design of all the surrounding areas of the city. I was expecting there to be a Lake Shore Drive, a "north side" that included a version of Wrigley Field, a true Lake Michigan (not a body of water where you can see hills and trees on the other side, etc... I guess that's the issue of me knowing that city like the back of my hand and being thrown off by all the fake areas and roads surrounding the "Loop".

Totally driving me crazy. For every accurate recreation there are a dozen head-scratchers.Spooky wrote: I guess that's the issue of me knowing that city like the back of my hand and being thrown off by all the fake areas and roads surrounding the "Loop".
I'm loving it so far. My only complaints is that I wish the crime event hacking targets were color coded. I'm trying to hack my way to riches and end up triggering a dozen crime events that I don't want to really deal with.
Still don't have the knack for losing the cops. A bit easier now that I have the bridge controls, but I'm still ending up on too many long, long, long chases.

Re: Watch Dogs
I played a very limited amount late Tuesday night and Wednesday night on PC. I have a hell of a PC but I couldn't run it on Ultra settings without getting some frame rate issues. I don;t have a 3gb video card...yet. found the controls to be a little wonky. The analog sticks seem a little sensitive and I've yet to get used to the controls in general yet. How do you tackle someone when chasing them?
It feels like the game throws just throws you into the city pretty fast and you have all these things to explore right off the bat. Feels a little overwhelming although I'm sure it was start to make more sense quickly.
EDIT: Also, I noticed that the audio was way out of sync with the visuals in cutscenes. Specifically, people's mouth were moving slower than the audio. Anyone else seeing this?

Re: Watch Dogs
I feel the same way...I would probably hate that game within 30 mins. For now it's the Show and FIFA. Next PS4 games for me are Destiny, NHL 15, and Shadow of Mordor.sportdan30 wrote:Gone are the days I buy every seemingly hot title. Re: Watch Dogs
One thing you can do to avoid those lengthy cop chases which are tougher than GTA is to drop straight into the water if you don't have the skill to raise bridges yet. Cops won't chase you once you are under water but the helicopter will. They are easy to kill though.

A nice piece at Joystiq about the process of creating their version of Chicago: http://www.joystiq.com/2014/05/28/why-y ... atch-dogs/
Had my first Fixer invade. So cool chasing him down and blasting him. My first attempt at hacking in someone else's game ended the same way, unfortunately. It's hard to avoid detection, as you can't sit or really do much to blend in. Lots of fun, though.

Re: Watch Dogs
Cool article. One thing the designers did REALLY well was to reproduce the feel of a Chicago neighborhood even if they aren't exact replicas. The house types, yards, car dealerships with the flag streamers, store fronts, etc...all feel very, very authentic.RobVarak wrote:Username: RobVarakTheTruth wrote:What are you guy's uplay usernames? There's this mission called 'Caught in the Loop'. Took me forever to complete it.

OMG the online stuff is F-U-N!! I did one campaign mission and spent the next two hours just doing drop ins. What a riot and what a cool, seamless way to integrate it into the single-player world.
