RIP Harold Ramis

Post by LAking »

Well, since no one else has done it yet a might as well get the ball rolling.

Harold Ramis, dead at 69. One of the all-time great comedic writer/directors. While I find Cadyshack to be horribly overrated I would list Groundhog Day and Ghostbusters as two of the best comedies ever.

I am a big fan. So many classic movies. Chicago is sad.

"Stripes," too. Hilarious film. And Ramis was one of the lead writers for "Animal House."

Hard to believe he was 69. Even in his old age he had this youthful charm about him. RIP.

I mentioned on twitter that John Hughes was supposed to be the filmmaker who's passing resonated with my generation, but for me this is much more personal. When I was a kid we used to worship SCTV and SNL. SCTV tapes would be passed around and copies-from-copies made. Do It Yourself Dentistry makes me lose my mind to this day.

Animal House, Caddyshack, Stripes, Vacation, Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day. Any one of those makes a career. Groundhog Day alone would put him in the pantheon.

Well put, Rob. It is very sad. He was such a comic genius and seems like he was a genuinely great guy.

Will always remember him for his role in Stripes, along with Bill Murray.

Also, cant believe how old he was. I didn't realize.
