A better fight engine and physics engine...and a RPG Be-a-Pro mode?

The skating engine in 13 was such a welcomed improvement, I hope OTP doesn't turn into a goonery show from what they are advertising in 14.

Agreed!

Hopefully the fights are turned off in drop-in games.

Not particularly excited about these features. Worried that the hits and fighting will be overdone. I would have rather seen new puck physics. I might skip this years version and wait for next gen.

-Collision engine? Couldn't hurt I guess.

-Regarding the fighting engine, it was awfully stale. I avoided fighting all the time, and it needed to be pulled or overhauled, so I won't complain about overhaul.

-improved skating is welcome. It was way too easy for high rated forwards to go around the defense last year.

-"live the life" mode. Seriously, who freaking cares? I presume this if for the 13year old crowd.

-No mention of passing and AI improvements. Wouldn't make for a catchy announcement but by far the most crucial aspect to be addressed.

Don't turn cartwheels or spin pinwheels over the news the NHL 14 fighting engine is based on the engine from the EA "Fight Night" series. That is, unless you're a fan of mechanical, stilted punching animations that have delayed execution after the button presses.

Because you find all kinds of people playing different styles in online games particularly OTP games, my wish for EA would be to create different games styles that may just satisfy all parties. If you enjoy fighting, fine, have a OTP where only goons need apply. Those that love to ditsy-doodle all day long without passing the puck, have a competition for best moves, dekes, what not, to satisfy those kids and finally reward an online mode where some may just want to play a game of Hockey the way it's supposed to be played.

Interesting to see how the collision engines pans out.

New trailer with one touch dekes and also shows an improvement with adding defensive strafing giving the defender better vision on the puck carrier.

I still play NHL 13 a ton, even though sometimes I hate it.

I want to see some commentary on passing; one touch passing, quicker releases, teammates moving to open space, etc..

I'm tired of seeing so much deking and circling of the puck carrier.

I gotta agree with this, I see guys doing it because they just want to be a hotdog but after a move or two they get dispossessed of the puck or simply don't want to pass it. It's a show on its own for them.

I am much interested in seeing how your teammates play when they don't have the puck. That plus additional improvement on the skating engine would be nice.

I love NHL 13's gameplay. Realistic or not, I have fun. I don't really deke, as I only know one move, and it only works with a great skater, and even then I lose the puck too often. Someone may point out a bunch of stuff that is dumb, but the games feel strategic and fun to me.

What I'd like to see is an online league system that isn't a laggy POS. I was excited for GM Connected, but gave up on it when I realized it was such a mess.

I absolutely love this series...even though it drives me out of my fn mind sometimes. The organic feel of some games is untouched by other sports games. I'll be a day one buyer every year til I'm bored with it.

I think guys do it because its the most effective strategy in the game. Guys that are good don't get dispossessed in their endless circling.

As I have pulled off one juke in the entire Ice Dragon season this , to me, seems designed to help people in their upper forties pull off a juke.

My God I love EA.

I've played 13 more than any other hockey game and I'm starting to dig the improvements for 14.

This is by far the most I have played a hockey game.

I pretty much played an entire season with the Wings and secured the 5 seed. I am in the 1st round vs Nashville.

The different types of goals I have seen this year is amazing. Really keeps it fun. Defense needs to be worked on and teammate AI but other than that, I love this game.

EA has said they will no longer require the online pass for any of their games. Probably bombed and on some games like Battlefield, it prevented people from buying the lucrative DLCs.

Yet, it's kind of hard to get excited about games for the current generation when the long-overdue next gen is suppose to happen this year.

So after Microsoft's event next week and after E3, I would imagine we'll hear about the next gen versions of NHL and other games?

I think that will be the case. This is the earliest in the year I remember getting information about NHL before. Makes me wonder If they are just getting all this out of the way so they can focus on the next gen.

I really hope some improvements are made to presentation this year but I doubt it. I would love NHL to have commentary like nba or MLB 2 k. everytime I play games Of NHL and see the one to two minutes of dead air while the intro runs that would be a perfect place for commentary for example.

Again, IMO fighting in this game was awful and pointless, so at least it adds some interest.

I'd take a sim mode for fights. I don't mind the effect it has on energy and such, and it's part of the game. But I don't want to waste my time doing the fighting. Just sim it and give me results. As it is, I turn fighting off and just pretend hockey in my world has joined the rest of world in civilized sports.

I just hope that the fighting doesn't get out of hand online especially in the EASHL with players wanting to fight from the opening faceoff and every shift after that, maybe make it a rare event that can only happen at the end of games or in a blowout.

My concern indeed. I would assume that people will just do that in the beginning until the novelty wears off, don't really care for that stuff.
