I don't know how you could have watched football in the late 70's/early 80's and not enjoyed the Air Coryell Chargers. A definite contributor to my love of the NFL.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

As and SDSU grad and a Charger's fan, I am truly sad to see him go.

It is an outrage that someone like Michael Irwin is in the HOF, and Coryell is still left on the sidelines.

I am bitter that he was not elected while still alive earlier this year....what a shame.

R.I.P. Coach Coryell!

RIP, the man changed the way the NFL is played today. He was way ahead of his time.

I agree brother. He should have been in the HOF years ago.

RIP

his teams were a wonderful introduction, to football.

Fouts, Muncie, Winslow, Jefferson, Joyner, Chandler. Wes Chandler also needs to be in the HOF. To this day, the most acrobatic NFL receiver have ever viewed.

RIP, Mr Coryell

He's especially missed in this era of smash mouth football and largely unimaginative passing games.

The spread shotgun formations now in vogue are gimmicky compared to the passing games of the '80s and early '90s.

I don't recall Fouts being in shotgun much if at all. Bill Walsh wasn't a fan of it either.

I used to tune in to their games despite a complete absence of any rooting interest, just because they were that entertaining to watch. I cannot believe this man is not in the Hall!
