Kind of in the same boat.dbdynsty25 wrote:Demo = ehhhh
I don't know...this thing is just same old same old. It certainly looks better than Live but I think I may just be sick of playing the 2k game. I don't know...I'm gonna buy both of course, but from the demos...after a horrible first impression, Live seems to be inching ahead. I mean, I'm sure that 2k will probably be a better game that plays more realistic, but at some point, playing the same game gets a bit tired. I play the sh*t out of the NBA games, so I may just need a year off from the 2k formula. That said, 2k will probably win in the head to head when I get em.
2k is legit...Live is just as good tho. And it's different. I'm pretty sure that's why quite a few people are migrating. If you haven't played the sh*t out of 2k for the past 5 years, then 2k is the way to go from an overall standpoint. I just am bored and wishing that I was playing Live when I'm playing 2k. Plus, some dude just paid me 55 bucks on eBay for the thing. LOL.Rodster wrote:Damn I hope I didn't make a mistake buying Live 10 for the 360 this year. 2K10 is utter magic for me. I've been playing the PC version, may have to add the 360 version as well as my PC has a hard time running it.
I just bought a new copy from Half.com for $41.49 shipped. I got the PC version but it stutters a little on my aged 2 year old hardware LOL.dbdynsty25 wrote:2k is legit...Live is just as good tho. I'd say 2K for balls out realism but db and others have been praising the hell out of Live 10 so I bought it yesterday at TRU, part of the B2G1. For me the 2K demo was very impressive and after playing the Live 10 demo I though meh, as I still have Live 09 and thought it was a lot of fun last year.MUTTS wrote:I still sit here with both unopened. Ive played the snot out of both demos. Ive become addicted to reading impressions about the two on the internet which is living dangerously Ill admit.
I think I may go the 2k route. Then hopefully EAs college game will be up to snuff like the NBA and I'll grab that. Then with one of each Ill have a little variety....unless of course EA does hoops like Madden/NCAA so they are genetic opposites.

What exactly makes 2K more "serious" bball? Why does a game have to be "serious" or "fun"? Can't it be both? Everyone keeps saying 2K is better if you are "serious" about your bball, but what about Live isn't "serious"?Rodster wrote:Had a chance to play the demo and all I can say is wow. It maybe the same 'ol same 'ol but damn this game is refined and plays like real BB. NBA Live while pretty fun is still just that, fun. It has the smooth natural commentary and fun gameplay but if you are serious about Bball get 2K10.
The one thing 2K 10 needs to dump next year is the stupid interface. They did it with NHL 2K10 and now NBA 2K10.
Gee it would have never crossed my mind. Yeah i'll need some links please.fsquid wrote:the nba live series forum. do a google search. I will wait until the game is installed before I start searching. I'll post a link if you still haven't found it though because I love you.Rodster wrote:Squidly don't forget to post your mod links.
Both games have their flaws...and in fact, after playing more and more Live, I'm convinced that both are fantastic sims. The main issue in both games is that it's WAY too easy to get in the lane, which in turn, makes it both games rely heavily on points in the paint. You'll get a lot more dunks and shots with contact in Live and you'll get a lot more post moves with 2k...so its pick your poison really. Both games are flawed in that department.JackB1 wrote:What exactly makes 2K more "serious" bball? Why does a game have to be "serious" or "fun"? Can't it be both? I agree. I watched that "shooting" tutorial and it's brillaint how you can change your shot so easily by just a subtle move of the left stick. My only wish is that Live would implement the shotstick like 2K has. The shooting mechanic in hoops could be just like the shooting in NHL games. Not sure why they have stuck to button presses for shooting?dbdynsty25 wrote:
There is just something so sweet about the shooting in Live. It's the first game to just NAIL the momentum, the step backs, the euro steps, etc. There are so many options to how you get the shot off it's insane. In 2k, you really have your pull up jumpers, and driving the lane for a layup whatever. In Live, there are multiple ways to get your shot off...manual bank shots to get the ball up high in case of a big man trying to block it, step backs when you're facing someone up, step backs when you're on the move right or left, floaters, tear drops, shots while jumping side ways like when your'e running across the lane, etc.
I hope they NEVER implement that - having the right stick be freestyle controls is so much better, especially with how easy they've made it to modify the shots with the left stick. I like that the dribbling controls are as intuitive and accessible as they are in live; in the 2K series, I always feel like I'm trying to pull off a combo from a fighting game when I want to do a hesitation crossover (disclaimer, I haven't played this years version except for the combine demo - I'll check out the changes if/when the demo ever hits the PS3).JackB1 wrote:My only wish is that Live would implement the shotstick like 2K has.
