OT: The Lone NBA 2008-2009 Thread...(4 people unite)
Well...maybe we can break 3 or 4 pages this year...doubt it. Was at the Nuggets/Suns outdoor game last night. Damn it was cold. 55 degrees by the 4th quarter. Makes sense why the Suns and Nuggets ended in the 70's.

Nice pic. I watched that game. I am going to watch the NBA this year. I am back on board. I am going with the Nuggets as my team of choice. Thanks for starting a thread.

Yeah, we had great seats (thanks Mom)...talked to Steve Kerr and David Griffin before the game since they were only sitting a few rows in front of us. It's nice to know the GM and the Assistant GM. LOL.
It was a great time...a nice 2 1/2 hour road trip though. The line to get in the place was ridiculous. I don't think they realized how NBA fans are...they don't go and hang out all day like Tennis fans at tournaments. They didn't plan for the huge line about a half hour before tipoff. That was pretty much the only issue I had with the venue and the experience. It was good times overall...even though the Suns lost. I couldn't believe how EASY it was to get out of the place after the game. After dealing with Dodger stadium for so long, it's ridiculous how bad the parking situation is at Chavez Ravine. Damn it was cold though...it's bad when the players are putting their arms in the shirts (like we all did when we were young and cold).

Steve Kerr always seemed like a pretty cool guy. I hope he was with you. How do you feel about the coaching change in Phoenix? You like Terry Porter? The Suns are a blast to watch.dbdynsty25 wrote:Yeah, we had great seats (thanks Mom)...talked to Steve Kerr and David Griffin before the game since they were only sitting a few rows in front of us. I'm not really happy about it. They should have allowed D'Antoni a full year with Shaq to see if he could make it work. Ultimately, Kerr just didn't mesh well with Mike and that's what happens when a GM comes in after a coach has been around for a while. He ends up wanting to bring in his own coach. It seemed like an ego thing more than anything. Oh well...we'll see how it works out. I can't hate on Kerr too bad...he and his wife bought Kelly and I a down comforter for our wedding. LOL.JackDog wrote:Steve Kerr always seemed like a pretty cool guy. I hope he was with you. How do you feel about the coaching change in Phoenix? You like Terry Porter? The Suns are a blast to watch.
Five pages on the NBA? Seriously? We're more likely to see a Clippers/Bucks finals:)
Speaking of the Clippers I'm curious to see what Marcus Camby and Baron Davis bring to the team this year and how Al Thorton does as a sophomore. The loss of Maggette might actually be a good thing (especially for Dunleavy). I really wish that OJ Majo had fallen down in the draft so that the Clippers could've snagged him but I can't be too upset with Gordon. On a side note does anyone know of any other NBA GM/Head coaches besides Dunleavy? It seems like a really bad idea to me. Anyway enough about the Clippers, nobody cares:)
Celtic wins the Championship again with KG leading the way.

That's cool man. I lived in Mesa and Chandler back in the days of the madhouse on McDowell. Carol and I loved going to Suns games. She has since become a huge Hockey fan but there is hope for her yet. She works directly across from the Target Ctr and said she would like to catch some Timberwolves games. I want to see the Suns and Nuggets as well as the Cavs and Bucks. We are looking forward to going to the games.dbdynsty25 wrote:Kind of...only because she's met all the players and she "loves" Raja Bell. She's really a Heat fan, being from Florida. We'll be in AZ over Thanksgiving visiting my mom...and ironically, the Heat will be there. Good times.JackDog wrote:Nice! I kep forgetting you got married man. Kelly a Suns fan?

The clock's ticking on LeBron's time here in Cleveland. The fact that the Cavs gave the Celtics their toughest challenge in the postseason last year and the addition of Mo Williams are reasons to be optimistic, but if the Cavs don't get a ring in the next two years, it's starting to look like alot of us forty-something die hard Cleveland fans may go to our graves without ever seeing a championship here in any sport. No pressure, LeBron.

Ahhh...the Madhouse on McDowell...those were good times. I went to numerous games with my dad when we used to live out there in the 80s.
As for Lebron and the Cavs...I absolutely LOVE the Mo Williams signing. I think he's going to be the sidekick that Larry Hughes never was. They still need a 3rd scorer in my mind...because the Big Z just doesn't have that in him anymore it seems. They will definitely do damage in the East this year.

The Hawks did well in picking up Flip Murray and Maurice Evans and they should be an upgrade over Childress who could not create on his own and relied on others to get him the ball. The Hawks are one big body away from being a serious contender. All the youngsters should continue to improve (Horford, M. Williams, J. Smith) and a healthy, more consistent Bibby would be great. I think they will be close to 50 wins this year.bdunn13 wrote:Wonder if my Hawks will see .500 this year. Like idiots, they did not resign J Childress and let him goto Europe.... Idiotic franchise... Horford should continue to improve.
p.s. B Dunn....if you ever want to catch a game, drop me a pm. I went to about 12 games last season including all 3 playoff games.
There is a good chance I am going to a game the first week of Dec as I am most likely going to be in Atlanta for the week on business.
When my travel plans are finalized, I will let you know.
heelfan from OS, theUsualgamer.NET and I think he is a member of DSP as well, is likely going as well.
I have been to alot of hawks games, but most of them were a while ago and in Charlotte.
I live a couple of hours from atlanta, so its a little more effort for me to go to a game.

Sounds good. I already have tix to the 1st 2 home games vs Philly & Toronto. First week in Dec they play Memphis & NY on Wed & Fri. Not the best teams, but I go no matter who they play.bdunn13 wrote:There is a good chance I am going to a game the first week of Dec as I am most likely going to be in Atlanta for the week on business.

Watched the Celtic/Cavs game last night. Pierce looked good, Ray looked old. Rajon looked great but needs to learn how to finish and hit free throws. LeBron is just so fun to watch, the guy is amazing. Cavs have a nice team. Not sure if good enough to win an improved East.
Started to watch the Lakers/Blazers game. Oden looks fragile. I will be surprised if he plays 60 games. Hope it works out for him as he seems like a good guy. A lot of pundits picking the Lakers to win it all. I just don't see that happening, but I am an Eastern Conference guy. Maybe I need to watch them more.
East looks good this year. Celtics and Pistons will be tough, along with an improved Orlando and Philly. Looking forward to the Celtic/Philly games again.

I watched the Bucks/Bulls game, and two things jumped out:
1) Coach Skiles has very few guys in Milwaukee that can play the style he prefers. Charlie V was riding the pine (9 minutes of run or something even though he started) because Tyrus Thomas was killing him. If Skiles can get some defensive effort from his guys they do have some talent; however, last night was not a good start.
2) The Bulls starting lineup can't hit a shot past 18'. I expect teams to pack in to stop penetration - Rose, Sefalosha (sp?) and Deng all look to drive, which is fine against the Bucks porous perimeter but not against anyone better. The spacing was horrible until Gordon and Heinrich warmed up in the second half.

Here we go again! Oden sprained his right foot last night and never returned after halftime. Bet Portland would like a redo on that draft pick!Pete wrote: Started to watch the Lakers/Blazers game.
