Links 2004 Tour?

Post by James_E »

Hi guys. I was thinking of running a multiple tourney tour for Links 2004. Hell maybe I´ll even do mock prize money with a leaderboard and stuff.

Post here if you are interested. It would be one tournament per week. I´m not sure what kind of stats I´ll keep or where I´ll put them, but I´ll work on something.

Problem is I don´t really have PC access during the week for too much non-work stuff. (Other than quick checks of msg boards and XSN.) I only have it on weekends, and I travel Sunday nights back to Ottawa. Updates might be slow for that reason.

Let me know if you are interested. Post your gamertag here.

Beware: I´m still in the "feasibility" stages with this...

DSP owners: any chance it could be a "DSP Tour" and we could post stats/leaderboards here at DSP?

I´d be down for it. I finally shot a decent round last night, so my interest in Links is renewed.

I´ll speak to the brass about getting a DSP Tour column going for the site. Heck, I´d join the tour if I was smart enough to figure out how! There is no FAQ simplistic enough to accomplish this task, apparently! I have a gamertag, and I´m registered with XSN, yet I see diddly, other than "New Tournament" when I go to XSN on Multiplayer options.

I found the DSP Invitational tournament on XSN.com, but when I try to "join" the tournament there - it doesn´t show up in the search as a tournament to join.

Jonathan.... write down the name of the tournament, password and round settings for the DSP invitational.

Go to XSN, select "New tournament". Follow instructions.... (You´ll have to enter the name.)

Once you´ve done this once... it will be a tournament listed on your xbox when you go to XSN...

Thanks James... it let me in but it looks like my round of +4 isn´t going to count for anything. There are still 16 names on the leaderboard, and mine ain´t one of them. Wonder why it let me in, with the field full?

Jonathan, there are 2 pages to the leaderboard. 32 players total. Some dropped out before playing any rounds, so I guess it let you in.

FYI, I shot +31 in round #1. Had wicked case of the slices and could NOT shake it.
There are two pages? How do I get to the second one? "Next" is grayed out when I try to click on it. There are only scores for 6 players shown on the one page I´m able to access.
LOL... I can relate bro! I shot a 93 in intermediate last night against two other players - they shot 60 and 63 - guess they were tired of my act. Honestly, I don´t play that much better overall in Intermediate Vs Advanced. When I miss one in this game I flat shank it... and I mean bad - as in two fairways over bad!!

After playing the game a bit more; I´m now wondering of playing this game with maxed out characters is really in the best interest of the game, and Links 2004 Tours. I played back to back foursomes (Advanced) last night with guys whose characters had a minimum of 29 points, up to 40 points. Most of them were making a mockery of the courses... and outdriving me by 80 to 100 yards with my 2 power point drives. I´m reluctant to add any more power points to my player because I think he hits the ball far enough with 2.

I watched these guys carve the course up with all that power and control, and I wondered, can they really be enjoying this? Out of one foursome, we had two guys in the 50´s and the other a 62 at Oakmont and Championship Tees. I shot a 76 and didn´t feel like I belonged on the same course with them. Some of my bogies came as a result of missing "gimmie" putts (oh I how I hate two foot putts in this game!

I´m thinking about just leaving my character where he is at 9 points (2-3-2-2). Once I get my game down a bit better, I think this will yield a good challenge.

What do you guys think about attribute point limits for a Tour?

I agree with limitations at a reasonable level. Man, I suck. I shot another +14.

John, I got your invites just now on XBL but I declined because I don´t have Clone Wars.
