Biggest Voids still on the 360?

Post by JackB1 »

My thoughts on what's still needed for the 360:

-platform game (like Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, etc)
-good baseball title (this spring hopefully)
-flying/combat game (like Ace Combat)
-more "serious" racing games (Like TOCA)
-better voice chat!!!
-an alternative to TW Golf

oh yeah.....and PK :D :(

"JAAAAACKK! WHAT THE F*CK ARE YOU DOINGGGGGGG?" (The all-time classic from multi-multiplayer on NHL Rivals 2004) :)

Good thread, Jack. What's missing on the 360, in order:

1. A 360 version of EA's Rugby series.

2. A licensed racing game based on a real series. TOCA, GTR, Colin McRae, NASCAR. GTR and Colin are coming, which is a big plus.

3. A 360 version of Winning Eleven.

4. A proper flight sim.

5. Operation Flashpoint. This would be the end-all of tactical online shooters if it was developed for the 360, with a big graphical upgrade. This was the ultimate "big sandbox" shooter for the Xbox on XBL. Hell, Pigpen almost had an orgasm every time we played!

6. Destruction Derby or Road Rash. How cool would it be to have online demolition derbies or motorcycle chain gang wars?

7. Discretionary income for me to buy a 360. :)

The first two items and No. 7 are my priorities.

Take care,
PK

Hey pk, I'm glad to see you still have interest in the 360. Those Rivals nights still remain as the best times I've had on live. Maybe the 08 games will begin to have multi multiplayer where we all can get in and trump those Rivals nights. :D

Agreed on many points with Jack and PK. My personal wish list to fill the 360's current voids are:

1. A solid, playable next-gen baseball title. When the best baseball game on the 360 is the back compatible WSB 2k3, that's a pretty big void

2. Expanded backward compatiblity, while they're at it. NCAA MVP Baseball and Rugby 06, in particular, would be nice additions to the list.

3. Dead Rising 2 *NOW WITH BETTER SAVE SYSTEM* and a full-fledged expansion for Oblivion.

4. An enjoyable alternative to Madden football - be it an improved NCAA 08 or NFL2k Legends, or something along those lines.

and let's not forget these other classics:

These are my two biggest cateogories. As much as I enjoy Test Drive, I am longing for a racing game with real race cars and circuits like TOCA or GTR. When is GTR on the way?

Rugby would be awesome, but I'm not holding my breath.

A few more:

They need to make NCAA baseball backwards compatible. Why have we gotten no more backwards compatible games since August?

Not interested in a platformer, but I suppose they should have a signature one.

Don't care about racing, so I don't miss that.

I'm the biggest baseball fan there is, but videogaming baseball just does not ever do it for me.

XXIV, what's your problem with Tiger? I'm loving it and the online play is super smooth.

That said, what I would like to see:

That the WE coming out in Feb. is lag-free.

An updated ninja-type game with the classic Tenchu-style gameplay. This would be absurdly fun on XBL.

A football game with full XBL and web integration for online leagues.

A Civ 4 port.

WoW. I don't even know if I want to wish for this, as it would effectively end my life outside the couch. :)

More GoW multiplayer maps. Ok, it's not a void, but my life needs more GoW!

The biggest void on the 360 is, without a doubt, roleplaying games. Man cannot live on Oblivion alone.

It's all but killed the machine's chances in Japan. Whether one likes or hates RPG's, they are an essential ingredient to the long term health of a console. You can't just have a few RPG's (even good ones) and compete with the likes of Sony and Nintendo.

My sister-in-law is an action-RPG fan who has played Oblivion to death and regularly is upset about the dearth of quality RPG's for the system.

Other than that, I agree XBox needs an answer to Sony having the F1 title. It's the only thing on the PS3 right now that I have any interest in (read: covet).

Pretty much every genre outside of the "run around and shoot people online" genre could stand to be much better represented on the 360. Once Winning Eleven arrives and if they ever get baseball right again, sports will be pretty good too. Everything else is pretty spotty. The good news is that there is at least one playable (usually good) game in most of the important categories, whether it be kiddie (Lego), kooky (Viva Pinata), strategy (LOTR) or RPG (Oblivion). But the variety could use a lot of work... it's basically no different than the original Xbox. It's pretty sad that once the blitz of Clancy games and GOW released (all shooters), all 360 games had to look forward to for the rest of the year was fast food games. Apparently the shooter fans don't ever get tired of blasting each other, but I would like to see some good old solo action games like Dead Rising and (blatant ripoff that it may be) Saint's Row.

No kidding about Operation Flashpoint....best online game ever.

Flying the copter while trying to pick up that darn pilot was as tense as anything.

That and ICS 2005 are my favs ever on Live by far.

I keep waiting for OP Flashpoint to go BC....

1. A good baseball game
2. More multiplayer maps for GOW

That's pretty much it for me. I've been pretty happy with the selection so far. The genres represented on the 360 are all generally right up my alley.

I would like to see Rugby made BC just so i can try it out. I never knew OP Flashpoint was ported to xbox. I'd like to try that online as well. Played the PC version for two seconds, kept getting killed and gave up.

1.Solid Baseball Title

2.Not just a Killer Racing game, but a library of racing games that make the 360 the 'racing console' like Xbox was.

3.Internet Browser on XBL.

1. Guitar Hero
2. Karoke Game
3. Baseball Game worth a damm
4. Club / Clan Support over XBL
5. Personal Pages on XBL
6. More organized tournaments on XBL
7. DTV Blade for 360 and XBL
8. A much bigger Hard Drive

Finally for the Love of all that is holy, will someone make a GD lacrosse game!

Agree with the baseball and GOW maps, and maybe a Siege type of mode for GOW.

A Madden that's not a spraypainted update of last year. Really disappointed EA didn't make more progress and that NCAA in its first year was a better game.

MS allowing people to make wireless controllers for Guitar Hero II

And I agree with PK needing to get on there. GOW is tailor-made for him.

In one word: VARIETY

It seems like the vast majority of 360 games are either shooters or sports (this includes racing). Where are games for kids under 14? Where are the creative titles like Oddworld?

It's been over a year now and I still can't see the 360 as good for anything more than FPS and watered down sports titles. Sure, there is the Live Arcade, but consumers don't see those in stores, so its reach is limited.

Oh, and how about better BC? I can still count a dozen games in our familys Xbox library that are not BC.
