Didn't they play FAU or FIU!!!

They shouldn't be fighting at all against anyone but against one of those bad football schools in the Miami area especially since they shoudl have killed them. (I have not seen the score yet)

That fight was weak. I don't know why everyone is making a huge deal about it. Bunch of pushing and shoving. Who cares. It happens every week.

If anyone needs to be suspended it's the announcer that was announcing the game. He was encouraging the entire thing...and even mentioned that they should meet at the park without pads to handle it like men. Yeah, that's great.

And it was 35-0...obviously that hyped miami more than FIU since it was 14-0 when it happened.

You're kidding, right? A five-minute melee that needs cops on the field to help break it up happens every week? Where, East L.A.? South Central? Bed-Stuy?

I saw at least four or five guys swinging helmets at opponents just in the ESPN highlights, which is ch*cken sh*t. I also saw at least two guys stomping on players on the ground, which is total chicken sh*t.

And you know what? That announcer may have shown bad taste, but he was right: Maybe these punks could fight like men instead of stomping and swinging helmets. Take off your helmet, drop it to the ground, square up and go.

Of course, if the U wasn't involved, you might take off your Hurricanes' glasses and see it for what it was -- an ugly melee that looked pretty f*cking stupid for BOTH teams.

Too bad the game couldn't have been called, and both teams be assessed with losses. That would maybe teach both some self-discipline if Coker and Strock can't do it themselves with their teams.

Take care,
PK

I agree 100%. Did you see the game Scott? It was sick. It was triple the s*** Hainsworth pulled against the Cowboys a couple of weeks back. Uncalled for and players need to be suspended.

Well I've already mentioned tha Coker doesn't have the team under control in the NCAA thread...so it's not about Hurricane glasses. The fight was weak...one helmet was thrown and yes, that is some chicken sh*t. The rest was a bunch of wrestling.

Of course I saw the game, I've got it on Tivo. The only guy that should get suspended in that was Anthony Reddick, the Cane who swing his helmet. And if that is worse than stomping on a guys head which was without a helmet, without provokation, then I must not know what is bad in this world.

I can't say that the Miami/FIU brawl was worse that the Hainsworth play...that was horrible. But it wasn't just a bunch of wrestling...lots of players were kicked while pinned/on the ground, there was the helmet throw, etc. It was pretty bad, and the coaches of both teams had no control.

Man I am not going to argue with you about this. I know what I saw. I saw #19 of the Cains stomping on the back of players legs when they were down. I am sure we will see it over and over again the next few days. Both teams acted like total asswipes. Cops had to go onto the field to restore order......20 mins later.

I understand that people hate the U...it's part of the team. I can't help it that I'm a fan. People like to find reasons to hate the Canes, that's fine, i accept it. There are fights like that all of the damn time. One helmet throw and all hell breaks loose in the world of sports. And you may wanted to look at the guy push Merriweather from behind and then down on top of his guy before you chastise him for stomping on the guy. Wouldn't you do that if some dude was on top of your buddy? That's not a cheap shot. The helmet, yes, that was f*cked up. The rest...wrestling. Oh yeah, and according to my Tivo counter...it lasted 3 min. and 55 seconds before both sides were spread apart by the coaches...not exactly 20 min. Now, it did take the refs another 10 to figure out who was ejected.

And Hainesworth was 10x worse.

No. I wouldn't have went running on the field like an undisaplined asshole. I don't recall another fight like that in any of the 15 plus games I watched today. It's not that common to see cops running on the field to get order.

I don't hate the Cains, but I do hate the bullshit unsportsmanlike celebrations they were doing against a creampuff team. The stupid ass that bowed in the endzone after scoring against that vaunted defense looked like an idiot. This team used to play like Champions. Now they just look like chumps. Coker has lost complete control.

You could see it brewing from the jump. Those teams were talking and getting extracurricular from the opening kick off.

It was an ugly, ugly brawl. Only one that I have seen that was worse that I can remember, was one we had when I was playing in junior college, in which the stands emptied and it got real ugly.

The NCAA really needs to put the clamps down on this and makes some people examples.

My first question was why UM was not penalized for taking that bow before the melee?

I have seen the fight and I believe Merriweather should be thrown off the team by Sunday evening for his actions. There is no way he shoudl be representing a university acting like that.

Oh there's no doubt about it...Coker has to go. He isn't a very good coach, first of all, and second, he can't control his team. Actually, if you read the post game comments, the FIU coaches and athletic directors said their team was at fault, hence the reason they lost 8 guys and miami lost 5. But that's neither here nor there really. It shouldn't have happened, but it's not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be...especially when it's the other team who caused it in the first place.

And yes, Bryant was penalized for bowing.

If he was, Why was the kick on the 3 yard line then?

Who do you want to be the next coach of that team? They need a strong leader to get them back on track. Hell they have the talent at every position except QB. Should be no problem getting a great coach to rescue that program.

Because you can decide to take the penalty on the extra point or the kickoff. Plus, didn't you notice that they announced the penalty at the end of the whole brawl? It was the only one that stuck...everything else offset.

I would actually like Butch Davis to come back. He was the guy who turned the program around from the thug-life mentality of the mid-90s. He's the guy who turned them into the #1 team in the nation in 01 (and 02, lol)...and then left for the greener pastures of the NFL (where he flopped of course). The only time Coker did a damn thing was the year after Davis left...of course with all of Davis' recruits. Now we're getting into Cokers recruits and all hell has broken loose. Losing to creampuff teams and getting into fights. Davis was a hardass, and that's what the team needs.

Same thing happened in Clemson/USC a couple of years ago during the last game of the year for the tigers. Bobby Bowden then told his team there would be no bowl for them. This was a class move by Bobby that cost his school millions but it worked. They are doing pretty good now.....

Db, I actually was at a College Hockey game and was not watching the blowout as it is not on up here in Red Sox country. Thus, I was just going from the highlights.

Well it was only 14-0 at the time, lol. Plus, it wasn't televised anywhere from what I can tell (Dade County?)...I just have the Gameplan package so I can get most of the games.

I don't understand why people are getting on Brandon Merriweather. At least he didn't have his glock this time while defending his buddies!
