Congrats in Order: RobV, Newcastle Repeat As WE League Champ
Newcastle Repeat as Champions
Congratulations to Rob Varak and his Newcastle Utd. FC on their second straight Championship in the DSP WE League!!
This fourth season saw a tight race for the title, as Newcastle earned 21 pts. while Mobiggins's Lazio earned 20. In the end, there were four teams with a shot at the title as the season approached the stretch run: Newcastle, Lazio, Jared's AS Monaco, and pigpen's Middlesbrough. Although Newcaslte lost three games while both Lazio and Monaco lost only two, the Toon won seven while drawing none to take the title, their second in a row. It remains to be seen if Rob will stay with this squad to give everyone one more chance to knock them off their pedestal, or will switch to another side for Season Five.
In the Second Division, yours truly took Manchester City to the top of the table and back into the First Division without a loss, dropping only four points all season with two draws and six wins. City scored 16 goals but allowed only one through the season. As City goes up to the DSPremiership, they will be replaced in the DSPenultimate buy fsquid's Toulouse FC who had an historically frustrating season, unable to record a win.
In the Third Division, Azpaco's Werder Bremen side earned promotion with 24 pts. off ten games. Like Newcastle, Werder Bremen didn't draw a single game, winning eight and losing two. Fanatic's Fiorentina were a close second, as they also lost only two games but drew one, falling 2 pts. short of Werder Bremen for the Division III title.
I'd like to thank the league participants for yet another great season! And I'd like to especially thank Jason whose league module at SGN and whose attentive assistance throughout has been tremendous. Thanks!
Season Five Sign-Up
At this stage, I'd like to invite any interested newcomers (or old players who want to return) to sign up in this thread for Season Five. I'd like to remind everyone that this is a sim-style league, and it is expected that everyone take the game seriously, play fair, play hard and try to win.
Newcomers would enter the league in the lowest division, which at this point is Division III.
Also if current participants could post here, reiterating their interest and letting me know if they want to enter the random team draw for a new team, or stick with the squad they have now.
Once again, thanks to all for another excellent season as we move forward into Season Five!

I think Rob has the right idea. I am not very good at this game. I havent played the latest versions very much and Mobiggins(Luc) used to hand it to me when we used to play at my old place.RobVarak wrote:Au contraire...it's payback time!fsquid wrote:great, I have to lose to this guy on a console as well as the fantasy leagues.snate wrote:I'd like to join.

Guys,
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Thanks for making this league so enjoyable. At the end of the day, online leagues are succesful because of dedicated people who are enjoyable to game with. Having the worlds greatest sports game like WE is just an added bonus.
Thanks to those who came before us and greetings to those who are joining for season 5.

In part due to a discussion with Zeppo, I'm having second thoughts about dumping Newcastle.
Anyone care either way? I was trying to promote parity by dumping the juggernaut
but I'll happily run the Toon out for another title drive...

If you like them, I'd prefer you keep them. I'd like to try to give them a run this season.RobVarak wrote:In part due to a discussion with Zeppo, I'm having second thoughts about dumping Newcastle.
