Old-school XBL Revival: Anyone into GR:IT or RS:3?
Boys:
It seems we're having a very pleasant "old school" Xbox Live revival at DSP, with IndyCar Series 2005 and now NHL Rivals 2004 and Links 2004 getting some good Poker Night action.
All three games are less than $10 in the used bin at EB, and none has lost the fun that made them DSP XBL hits when they debuted.
JackB1 and I wondered last night if there was a shooter that could be added to the revival? We thought Ghost Recon: Island Thunder and Rainbow Six 3 were good candidates.
Both are available for $7 or less in the EB bargain bin. Both were HUGE XBL hits at EB. The only thing that may separate the two is that RS:3 is backward compatible with the 360; GR:IT is not.
Is anyone interested in a semi-regular Poker Night with either of these games? Let me know if you are, and which game you prefer!
Take care,
PK

Cool. RS3 would be cool. I'd love to blow out all the water coolers again in the (Hernan) Crespo Foundation level or pump Neck's carcass full of three clips of lead in the Alcatraz level.
Honestly, when BBReBozo and I stood over Neck's dead body that one night in co-op and put two clips apiece into him for no reason whatsover, that was the funniest thing I've ever done or seen on XBL. He was our teammate, for Christ's sake!

Take care,

Are you sh*tting me? I would LOVE to play MM3. I don't think there's ever been a more horrid offline game that was more fun to play on XBL.Slumberland wrote:On a similar note, I don't suppose I could drum up any interest in some Midtown Madness 3 online... I loved that game.[/i]
I LOVED that game online and pissed my pants almost nightly from laughter while playing it nightly for about three weeks after its release. The trash-talking in that game was fierce and fun, and the keepaway mode, when there are nine guys chasing after one dude through the streets of D.C., was a rush unlike few others on XBL.
Bring on some MM 3 if we get enough people, man! That game is $4 or $5 in the bargain bin.
Take care,
PK

RS: 3 is $3 or $4 at EB, I believe. The same cost of a rental, if that can be a tipping point if enough dudes around here show interest.

Damn you, Slumber: Looks like I'm making another trip to EB soon.
Did you ever play Keepaway with city buses, limos or garbage trucks? You better bring a Depends if you have a few drinks or intoxicant of your choice and play Keepaway with those pigs!
By the way, prices for those three games at EB:
MM 3: $4.99
Rivals: $5.99
Links: $6.99
Many hours of online -- and in the case of Links, offline -- fun there for the whopping sum of $18.
Take care,
PK

If we get enough interest, I'll check into picking it up this week.pk500 wrote:Sully:Sully wrote:I think I have Island Thunder around here somewhere. As for R6, I only have Black Arrow.

If you twats weren't so cheap, it wouldn't have to be retro night
Kidding, I still have my XBox but think I sold my copy of GR:IT. We had some awesome poker nights with that. The maps were incredible, plus they left in old favorites like The Embassy. I remember sitting on top of that building and running out of sniper ammo during a Hamburger Hill game because the opposing spawn point was right by the capture zone.
Wasn't GR:IT where teal killed an entire team single-handedly? Or maybe I'm thinking GR2?

It was GR2, and I didn't kill an entire team...I captured the base by myself with their team having still six or so on the map. Boy, I remember that well. That was about as much fun as I've ever had. I crawled through the tall grass all the way to the base, then rolled into a corner section with about 10 seconds left in the round, praying that they were just shooting everywhere but where I was. All my guys were dead, and in the lobby shouting when I won the match. It was tense!Brando70 wrote: Wasn't GR:IT where teal killed an entire team single-handedly? Or maybe I'm thinking GR2?
The guy who killed like 50 guys by himself was Mix. That was insane. He kept having to pick up dead guys weapons, if I remember right...
Oh, you've made me start missing gaming! Dammit!

One negative about RS:3 -- a maximum of four players in co-op, I think, and team play isn't as good as GR 2 or GR:IT.
Something to chew on, but I can go any way.

Damn you, bastards: Now you've got me thinking of the Bunkers and the River Bank missions in GR 2. I loved cutting down the North Korean dudes in the River Bank mission with my .50 cal.

No, I don't. Honestly. Too much money, not enough interesting games for me.SoMisss2000 wrote:because you want one.
I'm more interested in the Wii right now, frankly.
