Marv Albert - Live 2003

Post by NoJoke »

I read on OS that NBA Live 2003 is getting Marv Albert and Mike Frantello to do commentary. It seems like EA gets the right people to do commentary - Costas and Harold Reynolds for Triple Play - but they are wasted in mediocre (poor) games. I´d love NBA 2K3 to have these guys.

I am pretty happy with the guys sega uses on nba2k series. The one guy who goes as ´Rod West´ is in real life Rod Brooks and he has his own radio show in the SF bay area. As for albert, I never liked him in videogames but I guess that its not his fualt he was chosen to do Accliam´s QB club series for that year. I don´t think it´s really the annoucers that matter but more the atmosphere the game applies. For instance, everyone thought adding miceals to madden and taking out summerall would be a big improvment but it has only been a minor improvement. At times madden´s commentary still gets boring w/ madden/micheals since the surrounding sounds do not add to the atmosphere.
Well, it all depends on if Live 2003 is good or not. If it´s a solid game, then you might not have to worry about their announcing being wasted.
Agreed. It kinda sounds like EA is really getting it together in terms of this title. I think they got the message that Live hasn´t been as good as it could have been for a coulpla years. They have a lot to prove in this category, and from what i´ve seen they´re gonna do it. You´ve got the freestyle thing, new music and improved defensive AI - it looks like it could be a pretty fine game.

And as for Marv, i´m a fan of anything that puts more distance between him and all that mess a few years back.

i think live will be fun for awhile, but i don´t see from the movies ( iknow its just a movie) any strategy elements besides use some(very nice) dribble moves and then dunk.

with as long as all of us have been playing this series i think the game will be too easy and get repetitive after awhile. it will just take longer for us to get to that point because we will all be so amazed with the new control scheme,

Live has lagged the last couple years but from what i´ve read the freestyle control is a real improvement. which is about time because the category was ready for a shake up. it´s nice the graphics keep improving every year but i was definitely ready for a big new step.
