Xbox 360 Keynote

Post by Arkin710 »

Apparently, they mentioned Pro Evolution coming to the 360. And GTA IV in October 2007, along with episodic content from Rockstar.

Didn't he say you will only to be able to play Madden on the 360? That can't be right....

Kinda confusing. Is it true GTA 4 will be 360 exclusive? If that's true, that's unbelieveable.

Not clear if GTA4 is exclusive forever or it's a time-exclusive.

I believe they will have exclusive downloadable content though to extend the GTA4 game.

There's just a ton of arcade titles coming to the Marketplace. I realize a lot of these titles can be played on the computer, but I like the idea of kicking back on the couch and playing Contra, or Galaga, or Paperboy.

Seems to be a lot of "in 2007" announcements.

But MS easily held their own compared to Sony and Nintendo for the pre-E3 presentations.

I was hoping we'd hear something about being able to play a game while downloading something off the marketplace. Even if it's just an arcade title, that'd be sweet. Oh well.

Looking forward to this feature from this link:

In another amazing example, Major Nelson e-mailed a Forza 2 car to Scott's cellphone. Scott tuned the car on his phone, painted it on his Vista PC, and then raced it on his Xbox 360!

Here's my fear: Compatibility with all of these "gee-whiz!" new features will become more important than quality, deep gameplay with new titles. It's already bad enough that graphics have supplanted gameplay, but there's a real threat that gameplay will fall to No. 3 on the totem pole.

After all, who cares if the game plays like sh*t if it looks pretty and you can send new features to buddies with your cell phone?

Call me an anachronist or Luddite, but I have genuine concerns.

Take care,
PK

I enjoyed the press conference. Peter Moore is one smooth cat. Nothing unbelievable came out of the keynote but some nice footage of upcoming games. MS seems to be doing things correctly. Their plan looks great. I'm looking forward to Bros. In Arms.
