NCAA 07 preview and vids
Hey guys,
I've been reading this forum for a while and just remembered that I'm actually registered here. So, I figured I would post. I'm a big college football and soccer fan. I know most of the guys here are Xbox guys. However, I'm a PS2er. Anywho, here's some NCAA 07 info at IGN.
Warning...the first page of the preview will make you puke. After that, it gets a little better. Enjoy.

At first, I thought EA included midget football as one of their new game modes. I was relieved to see better screenshots on pages 2,3, and 4.
I assume those are Xbox screen shots and videos going by the last paragraph in the preview. Tomorrow, hopefully we'll get to see some additional 360 screen shots and videos.

Yeah, the first page makes me sick...the trick plays and momentum are probably going to be as poorly implemented as HFA and Impact Players.Gamecocks625 wrote:Hey guys,

The revamped playbooks and defensive hot routes/playmaker shifts give some hope. The series is basically circling the drain in my book,as the gameplay is now non-stop scoring shootouts and unstoppable impact players and deep passes. It doesn't help that the sliders are largely useless now as well.
i don't know about everyone else, but after ncaa football 2004, my anticipation for each game in the series has dwindled off...ncaa 2005 was awful! and i couldn't get into ncaa 2006 because i could dominate with a scrambling qb and the deep ball by the computer was irritating...if only ea stayed with the same gameplay engine of 2004, made tweaks here and there, instead of implementing stupid s*** like iq tests, going to class and taking exams (didn't like it in college, will hate it in med school!), and the way momentum is implemented with the rating's decreasing like h*** is absolutely frustrating...
it sucks, because i love college football, but i don't get as hyped for these releases anymore...come on, trick plays is there gimmick this time...come on...

It will be interesting to see if the 360 game will have the same features or be a stripped down version of the game. Why do I get the feeling that I will be wishing I had a xbox or PS2 come July?
But on the bright side, maybe the new features will be overdone and break the game and I will be glad if they are not implemented on the 360. Or maybe EA will make the 360 with all the features of the last gen versions.

Exactly what I was thinking. I think it was silly gimicky features that ruined NCAA 2006 and that created some of that wonderful Xbox slow down.kevinpars wrote: But on the bright side, maybe the new features will be overdone and break the game and I will be glad if they are not implemented on the 360..
I am glad they are at least addressing blocking kicks. There was one version of Madden where you could block PAT/FGs occasionally if you came with the MLB (I think it was 2002 or 2003). But otherwise it has been almost impossible to block any kicks.
Scary thing is this game is only two and a half months away.

The 360 version sounds like it's going to be very nice. So what if the trick plays didn't make it in to this version? Weren't most of you complaining about it being in the Xbox version? Now, I know some people won't be happy that there are only 119 schools and that there are no classic teams.
It's a must buy for me.

I could care less about classic teams since the game's bread and butter is the fanchise mode.sportdan30 wrote:The 360 version sounds like it's going to be very nice. This pic of MSU looks like the real thing. Michigan State
I've said this all along but I think lightening in games does more for the visuals than seeing veins on a player. Other than PGR, games have been woefully inept in their ability to handle lighting.

Per LBzrule @ OS:
Just got an update on the playbooks fellas. Robinson made a poo poo. Here is what I was told. The playbooks in next gen are larger than the ones in current gen. But the next gen just has more basic plays because the focus of the game was on basic game play. The example given to me was that in current gen the game has 12 base formations but in next gen it will be up to 21 base formations for each playbook.
So no more playbook worries

I actually thought that the 360 version of Madden - while flawed - played a better game of football than the xbox version. I just hope that there is a way to block kicks and punts in NCAA 360.
Since the games are being marketed as different, you would think that MS would put some effort into making the xbox version work on the 360. Since the xbox version will undoubtably be the top selling xbox game in July, and since MS has claimed that top selling games would get preference in backward compatibility, you would think. But it won't happen.
I will miss the Division1AA teams, but maybe next year EA will not only add them to the 360/PS3 but give us the 1AA teams in a dynasty with the 1aa playoffs! That would be very cool. Hey, if it is in the game.......
