Battlefield 2 360, what say you?

Post by webdanzer »

I know there was some brief discussion about this when the demo came out, but I don't think there was ever an official impressions thread on the full game, though I've seen some of you playing it.

I know it's basically a jump in, run and gun type shooter, so I expect that.

But, how is it overall? People impressed? Not?

Yes, please offer some opinions.

Those of us with new lovely baseball coasters might want another game to consider to dull the pain and disappointment.

I have it, have not played more than 10 minutes yet though. I am 'checking it out' through my store. We actually have an officially game 'check out' structure now. Pretty cool.

Anyway, the game seems like a lot of fun but I have nothing different to offer from my initial demo impressions. If others have it and want to try and pay together some how (Clan mode maybe?) then I'm up for it.

I have it on the way from GameFly. I hope it doesn't come too late to get in on some sessions with DSPers. It should come in next week sometime.

I am bummed about no private rooms, but hey, I guess the really big rooms are what BF2 is all about.

Same.

There is some clan BS in the game from what I have heard, and you can have clan matches... but I am not 100% sure how it works.

Played the demo.....Thought it was pretty average myself. But if you love vehicles and 24 people running around like headless chickens.....

Played the demo and 5 minutes in a teammate of mine decided it would be fun to kill me and two others on his team. All i needed to see to leave this one in the store knowing there are no private rooms. I don't have the time or patience to seek out a room that isn't going to include those teenage (no offense Atx) punks who ruin a potentially good game.

But i'm not bitter.

I've played 15 or 20 random matches so far, and had a blast. Control is tight, but it's such a different experience from GRAW; that in and of itself may turn a lot of people here off. It's a definite run-and-gunner.

Vehicles control pretty well, and it seems to be pretty easy to get a good target on people, which could be good or bad. Still a lot of snipers and not enough team players, but such is life when playing random games.

Map variation is pretty cool, and some of the levels are rockin' (snowmobiles are nice and there's this little WASP helicopter on one of the levels that is just downright nasty).

Not sure what specifically to say, other than that it's a pretty fun arcadish shooter.

That's exactly the impression I got from the demo and the 5-10 minutes I spent with this so far. Looking forward to playing more but the DAMN servers are down and have been for 2 days as far as I can tell!?!?!? :x

Anyone else having trouble connecting? I know Scoop was having issues earlier today.

I've got it... think it's great. Looks great, sounds great, can get REALLY hectic, and there are a lot of approaches you can take in battle. I also like that it's arcade-ish, but not a twitch-fest like Halo. Maybe we should start a hapless clan of our own.

like the xbox version, but better graphically (see more detail), & the sounds of gunfire & explosions are louder, which sorta gives you a "your there" feel.. i liked the xbox one, so naturally had to pick up the 360 one.. i have heard that single player is fun too (havent tried it yet), which would be different than the xbox version..

I only own two 360 titles this and GRAW. My son and I both agree, there is only one game to play for MP, it is THIS!!!!

This game is GD Godly. No need to explain strategies, gameplay, etc...

This game just rules, no need to know more than that, me and my boy are in the OS Clan. This game for us (and this does not include anything OS) is the best MP experience shooter there is...period.

I flipped when my boy told me, that this game is better than Halo II, that was his favorite. He played that non stop. So I started playing, and I agree. This game is godly. Well,.... especially if you are good at FPS's we were killing damn near everyone in sight.

This game currently consumes us. It does not have a split online two GT's feature ala Halo II or GRAW. So we take turns on one anothers GT's upon deaths! Awesome fun.

Was finally able to get online with this one tonight and I had a lot of fun. I held off on the Xbox version for this one and I'm not disappointed I did. I ended up playing with a couple of guys on my friends list (isles and Cowboys59). Isles and I kept killing each other.

I was surprised by the single-player mode. I thought it would just be skirmishes on the maps but there's actual missions. It was a nice little bonus to what I thought would be multi-player only.

Played a bit more and I have to say that this game is a total blast online. It is the amount of total chaos that makes it so freakin' cool. Explosions everywhere from tanks, warhawks, missile launchers, ect... And what is even cooler is that it is all from other human players.

The maps are insanely cool as well. VERY well designed and have some many diverse areas.

My only major gripes at this point are the goddam voice that says the bases are captured in multiplayer is SO F*CKING LOUD!!!! And that there seems to be some issue with the lighting (or lack thereof) in dark areas like inside buildings. If I have to go inside somewhere to climb up stairs, I cannot see where the hell I am going for the life of me. Anyone else notice this? Is is so damn dark in certain areas.

I read somewhere that they now have a volume control for that ear-drum piercing "You have captiured base 3" voice.

C'mon GameFly, get that thing over here, I want to join in before everyone forgets they have the game!!

I assume there is no way to join two different clans? That would be a great way to do private rooms. Well maybe we could do some OS v. DSP nights, although those never turn out well for the DSP clan  , solely due to numbers, mind.

Just eventually get into the OS one, if it gets big enough, I read somwhere that we can then hold our own battles. Kinda split ourselves in two.

Scoop,
That was me (Cowboys59) that ran over you. I certainly didn't mean to. I got a warning that if I did it again, I would be kicked off the server.

I actually was trying to pull up beside you and let you in the truck so you could man the gun on top. I guess you didn't see me and just kind of ran in front of me. I don't know why, but stuff like that bothers me for some reason.

I started a clan called "**DSP**" just for fun. I sent out a few invites.

I figured that we could at least get a few folks playing on the same team against random other clans. I think that it doesn't really matter if we play against strangers, just with them is where it can get annoying.

LOL. I didn't know you were Cowboys59 Bad. I wasn't mad that you ran me over. In fact, I was laughing my ass off because that was the first online game I played and I was running around not knowing what to do when you ran me over. I was having a blast last night. It's a really fun game online and the single-player is surprisingly cool.

Those were some fun sessions last night. Does the voice chat work in this game?

Sometimes people seem to hear and speak and other times it seems like it is broken.

This game is just so much damn fun though. Very addicting. I can't wait to actually get into a group and be semi-strategic. (if that ever happens).

only if you want to play DSP'ers on the 360  .. j/k..

have never played the game on the CP, but i have heard that the version on the computer is more sim oriented while this is more "run & gun"...

Scoop - i've noticed either people are private chatting or not chatting at all..
