I have a couple of days off next Friday and Monday, so I picked this up tonight with a gift card I had. They had a used copy to boot.

I think you will be happy with it especially after you get through the tutorial segment.MizzouRah wrote:I have a couple of days off next Friday and Monday, so I picked this up tonight with a gift card I had. They had a used copy to boot.
Just a beautiful well executed game with so much to do.
The more I play , the more I appreciate the effort.

4 million copies sold already, that is fantastic for this studio.

There should be a next even better game in their future.

They are working on a Cyberpunk game but I think it is a few years off.

Re: OT: Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt
I actually got far enough in that I worried about the difficulty...so I started over on Death March because I'm masochistic. It's not nearly as hard as I feared it would be. You can still kill things relatively quickly--the main difference is they can kill you just as quickly. It's basically a "one hit from a sword is 3/4 of your life" mode, so you end up playing extremely defensively, leveling up the Quen shield and using blocks a ton more.
You also get less XP, and crafting requires additional components for everything. It's certainly a different experience, as the Griffon one-hit killed me a couple of times before I could finally beat it, but the further I progress (and better gear/signs I use or unlock), the more "normal" the game feels. I think it's one of the most well-balanced "hard" modes I've ever seen, honestly. It might be worth it to those of you slightly bored with the difficulty on Normal. It's not as bad or cheat-y as you'd think on Death March.

Excellent.. I did like W2 for a bit, but then got bored. Hoping this one grabs me. If not, there is always Batman AC in two weeks.XXXIV wrote:

Re: OT: Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt
I've been stuck in the same spot for over a week. I'm in the mission finding the elf mage in the dark tunnels. I'm out of food, out of potions, can't make more potions and have a sliver of health. After what felt like 100 tired i finally beat that golem, but now the Wild hunt mist with those dogs (?) is killing me. I'm almost convinced I need to go way back to an earlier save or start over.
It's very frustrating.

I got stuck an hour or two in and I haven't been back since. Games like this piss me off. I get stuck and then I quit, even though I liked everything up till that point.Danimal wrote:I've been stuck in the same spot for over a week. Re: OT: Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt
I hear you, in my instance I am in a place there is no way out of which is odd for an open world game. In other spots if I hit a wall I put the quest on hold. There is no way back, I slug through this or go back to an earlier save and lose 2 hours of progress at least.dbdynsty25 wrote: I got stuck an hour or two in and I haven't been back since. Re: OT: Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt
Dan are you talking about the quest with Keira Metz? You are at the spot where she makes the protective shield?
If I am remembering all this correctly...
I did that part a few times. I finally controlled the crazy sword swings as much as I could as to stay inside the safe zone long enough to survive.
I was almost ready to back to a save spot after the golem and mediate to get reset the swallow potion...or if it came to it to a spot before the golem where I would try that fight again using less stuff...
I save all the time and by that I mean all the time and now meditate often.
Im far along into the game now where I have enough food to survive any drought... Its like there was a point in the game where I started to feel comfortable. I still do die so its not on cruise like it was towards the end of Dragons Age.

34 exact spot, I feel like I came here at too low a level but yes the sword swing take me out of the circle and one hit by those things kills me I am so low on health. My fear is there is going to be a big bad ass after this that will destroy me LOL

Re: OT: Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt
That was sticky for me as well, but it was very much out of character for the game as far as I've seen. I've put in a ton more hours without anything similar happening. Feel like it's just a slightly unbalanced quest, made worse by the fact that they don't let you know how long a ride you're in for to allow you to stock up on Swallow potions and water.Danimal wrote:34 exact spot, I feel like I came here at too low a level but yes the sword swing take me out of the circle and one hit by those things kills me I am so low on health. Re: OT: Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt
Credits rolled just in time to feel England's pain.
This game was an experience. They put forth quite an effort and I enjoyed most of it most of the way.
Some stuff did feel unfinished or rushed as I guess is the way with pressure from publishers...Minor gripes are for example the way they handled your romance if you chose the one they didnt want you to choose...aka almost ignoring it.
There are a couple more problems I had that I could rag on but I think this game moved us in the right direction.
It entertained me.

Re: OT: Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt
I dont know ho many hours. Does it keep track somewhere? Ill have to check. As with Dragons Age when I start playing a game that sucks me in its all I play and I do have a lot of free time. It takes a lot to get me off of WoW.
Somewhere between level 20-25? I picked up speed as I stopped doing most side quests and went all in with the story. I was trying to get all the Gwent cards but that change in direction seems to have cost me that goal. I missed Lamberts card for sure as that side quest vanished somewhere along the line. I think I ended up at level 36? Maybe 37 if I dinged during the final boss fights.
Much like Dragons Age Im going to miss it as the disc is headed for the next trade in deal I find.

There is some good DLC in the future, one which adds a very large area.

Cool. Did some googling and I see there are two expansions coming.Danimal wrote:There is some good DLC in the future, one which adds a very large area.
Maybe I will keep it til then.
They have free DLC quests now. Maybe check them out this weekend.
Re: OT: Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt
OMG some of these are just right on the money. Well done.
Here are Momot's patch notes in full:
Here are Momot's patch notes in full:
A new, alternative (optional) movement response mode for Geralt.
A player stash for storing items, available in various locations throughout the game. Stash locations are marked on the player's map.
Crafting and alchemy components no longer add to the overall inventory weight.
Books are now placed in a dedicated tab in the Inventory and books that have already been read are properly grayed out.
Multiple sorting options are now available in the Inventory.
Alchemy formulas and crafting diagrams can be "pinned", meaning all components and ingredients required to make them will be conveniently marked in the Shop panel.
Dozens of fixes for quest related issues, both major and minor.
A few performance enhancements, including the optimization of FX, scenes and general gameplay.
Various improvements to horse behavior.

Good stuff that would have been great three weeks ago.
That patch whenever it comes out (Not out today) is one more reason to keep the game til the DLC

This game was special. Hard to sell.

Niceeeee....

Re: OT: Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt
Apart from the odd indie game and Rocket League this game is all I've been playing. I don't think I'm anywhere close to finishing it because I'm just d!cking around with all the side quests and Witcher contracts.
Great game (though I still think the combat in the original is my favorite).
