I found another annoying one...

Last night, runners on 1st and 2nd, Dunn hits a ball to the outfield that may get caught. My runner on first stops halfway, as he should. But the runner on 2nd, unnoticed by me, is heading for home?!?!?! (I saw the "H" by his icon) He was around 3rd when the fielder caught the ball and threw it to second to double him off.

Now, this isn't the first time it's happened to me, and before I thought "maybe I hit the right stick by accident", but last night I know I didn't.......

sigh.... i guess you have to really babysit the runners now.

This game comes real close to NBA Live 07 (360) for it's comedy of glitches and bugs. The only reason to play this game is if you don't have a PS3. The commentary is outstanding. If you don't take this game too seriously there is fun to be had.

I wonder if 2K is second guessing handing this game over to Ben Brinkman then giving it to VC the following year? MLB 2K7 was no where this bad.

Yeah this has been a PITA for me also. I've had quite a few rallies stopped because of this. On the other had. Since the most recent roster download, I haven't seen the outfield or 1B glitches

Mizzourah, you should definitely try some of the sliders on 2kshare. Makes the game play a lot better

For fun I was on the 2k forums last night. There's a thread there where a mod basically is telling everyone to wait and judge the game after the patch, that will the the true test, etc etc.

People are complaining (and rightfully so) about why should we have to wait for a patch to judge a game.....

One quote that stuck out from the mod replying to cries of "this thing must not have been tested" was along the lines of "Sure the game had major flaws but no one in this community knows why the game shipped the way it did, nor will they ever really"

Now I'm sure modding a forum, especially one run by the game publishers can't be easy, but it's things like that that make me wonder if they really "get" how to communicate in today's age.

For the longest time, I thought EA games were POS's, but the past few years I've enjoyed NHL more then the 2k offering, and FIFA this year as well. And I'm impressed with their (apparent) transperncy with the blogs, etc. Plus, I find their forum to be less aggravating then 2k.

I think if someone from 2k came out and said "yes, we realize there are problems, we will attempt to fix this, this and this" instead of soliciting feedback and not replying, they'd have less PR problems.

Sorry, I realize this has turned into a bit of a speech... I'm doped up on drugs and home sick today, so I blame the Benilyn. ;)

I can't ever remember another sports game in history that shipped with this many bugs, glitches and weirdness.

that said, I'm still having fun with it :)

It is so frustrating though. I can't imagine anyone play tested this game for more than a few minutes. How can you ship a game where you can PICK OFF A BASERUNNER ON 2nd EVERY TIME??? The console version should also have been $19.99. The people would just accept the game with all it's shortcomings. At $59.99, its a tough pill to swallow.

That being said, I'll try BFJ's this weekend.

Why is it funny?

Some of us haven't seen glitches, but as we play more, they show up.

There is a thread on the show at another forum I frequent and it's gone from best game ever to people becoming frustrated with some of the bugs as well.

There are definitely issues with the Show...no one said there wasn't. There just aren't NEARLY as many as in 2k9. And it's funny because everyone says bugs/glitches don't bother them and now they do. So whatever. I still have the game on my PC and I play it when i can't play the Show. That doesn't mean it's a good game.

True, a lot of the glitches I either didn't notice or they just didn't bother me. But while I still have fun with it there are glitches that bug me.

The fielding needs to be fixed. It's not as bad as 2K6, but it's certainly trying to be. I've given up far too many hits because I try to adjust my fielder and he does the Ickey Shuffle and steps out of the way of the ball. (If they would just put in auto-fielding this would not be an issue at all, and it's probably my #1 beef with the game). I have still seen the 1B bug, although not as much. It has some goofy graphical glitches sometimes but they don't really bug me. In The Show, I had Ryan Howard up to bat, and he took his practice swings with no bat, as it was just floating in the air in front of him. After his swings he grabbed it and was ready to go. It was actually pretty funny.

I've also had times in The Show in my RTTS game where my pitcher just stands still even though I'm moving the stick to try to field a bunt. I know my guys stats are supposed to be low but to not move at all?

At any rate, yesterday I turned on both the PS3 and the 360, started identical games in both (Dodgers at St. Louis), and switched back and forth after every full inning.

After that experiment, the winner was The Show (and it was not an easy decision for me). It was just a much more polished game, and without any "why did the game do that!?!?" moments. (my frozen pitcher in RTTS not withstanding!) It's not perfect, and there are certainly parts of both games I prefer over the other. But with a PC version only $20 that is already getting modded, I just couldn't keep 2K9. I'll have it on the PC and The Show for my consoles. $60 is a lot of bones for a second baseball game, so I got a family game instead so I won't get as many nasty looks from my wife when I'm playing the PS3! (Hey, she approved the purchase!)

There are bugs that ruin the gaming experience (like being able to pickoff every runner) and there are bugs that are just stupid or visual (like the guy disappearing into the ground or weird clipping issues). Thankfully, the only problems, for me, that get a little in the way of the 2K9 experience are the pickoff problems, the AI over agressive hitting problem and SOMETIMES the non responsive fielders. Thankfully, the first two are supposed to be fixed in the next patch and the last one I can deal with. Other than that, the game is pretty good. The weirdness does happen, but not enough to really ruin anything.

lol.. there shouldn't be as many with the show as 2k9.. I mean, how many different hands has that game been through?

Some glitches do not bother me, but as you play any new game more, some will pop up that just piss you off to no end.

I was one that was glad Kush was taken off the project. Now i'm not so sure that was the right move. MLB 2K7 looks better and has less bugs than 2K9.

I've been playing online only, and it's been great (take that 'the show' !!). Not starting my franchise until the next patch comes out (which is supposed to be a doozy).

2k7 was "ok" It definitely looked the best.. but 2k9 could be much more fun if they fix some gameplay issues.

Agreed but 2K9 is a total bugfest at the moment. The natives are getting restless. The pressure is on for VC to deliver a stellar, almost glitch free product next year.

For those PC owners, Yankee Stadium is almost ready for download over at mvpmods.com :)

One of the mods at 2k thinks "before opening day", but no one is saying anything specific.

Thanks. I won't play the game until then. The Show is keeping me busy but I do like the way 2K9 plays...minus the aggressive CPU batter.

I ain't bitching...I still like it quite alot-but, I'm not one who knows or cares about the batting averages for the 1957 Yankees, or who had the best ERA last year, so I may not have an opinion worth having about a baseball game...

My sliders are set to be in between All Star and Legend for my own hitting, and I think the AI as well.

I'm still messing around though, so I haven't made them final yet. I think once the patch hits, everything will need to be tweaked anyway, so for now I'm just screwing around in a franchise and I'll restart post patch and post rosters with rookies.

Well, on e benefit to being home sick is I get to surf the web more then usual....

Apparently this isn't ALL the fixes, just the ones told to the 2k mod Ron so far:

Hey all from the cold United Kingdom,
I wanted to give you more details about Patch 2 as they have been passed to me. The patch is almost ready for submission as the final tweaks are being made. From there, it must go through the proper approvals which puts it a minimum of two weeks out. But I did want to share JUST A FEW (read NOT ALL) of the things it will address:

AI Agressiveness
Home Run Totals
Fly balls in the outfield tweaked so ghastly fielding errors will be a thing of the past
1st baseman stepping off bag has been tweaked
Issues with the pitch overlay hud
Fixed pickoffs, especially to 2nd base
Roster issues as it pertains to subsituting pitchers and bench

There is more news to come, but wanted to share at least these fixes with you. Thanks!

Someone over at OS posted this...apparently, this list is only some of the things that will be fixed by the patch:

"patch #2 details

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AI Agressiveness
Home Run Totals
Fly balls in the outfield tweaked so ghastly fielding errors will be a thing of the past
1st baseman stepping off bag has been tweaked
Issues with the pitch overlay hud
Fixed pickoffs, especially to 2nd base
Roster issues as it pertains to subsituting pitchers and bench

from Ron at 2k forum"

EDIT: Thanks Gangrel, beat me to it...

I'm surprised they bothered with a patch for such things. Automatic pickoffs on second? First basemen 'kinda' tagging the bag to get outs? *Ghastly* fielding errors?

I mean, only negative nancies with a psycopathically encyclopedic knowledge of baseball and too much time on their hands notice such things, right?
